Just as the wood stove and choice of composting head are very personal decisions, so too is the under-mount galley sink that Steve has chosen for Arabella. He plans to hunt and fish wherever he roams, and because he loves making and eating home-cooked food, the galley that's coming together is rightfully taking up a good amount of real estate, space-wise. Steve has heard from trusted cruising friends about the convenience and practicality of the sink as a provider of convertible/flexible stowage and working surfaces, and so he's chosen a work station sink for the job. Bulkheads are sanded, faired, sanded, coated, sanded, coated, sanded.... You get the idea. There's a lot of that around here. On my latest trip to the extraordinary ICON shipyard I took a good look at the incredible 68m explorer yacht "Ragnar". The shipyard is making amazing progress, and although much of the finished cabinetry was under protective covering it was clear that the yacht will soon be ready for launch, sea trials, and then delivery to her owner!

We have been working on sending tools down to SAILCARGO for a while now and we finally are getting to the point of actually shipping things! With everything we gathered, we had to figure out how to get it down there and not lose anything in the process... so, we built crates to keep everything together while it was shipped down to the in a container. The best part about this is that we got the crew together to help us put this all together! But even better than that was that I, Alix, got to spend my birthday doing something great for an amazing project, with a crew of people I care about. With that done and ready for the shipping container we got to get back to work, but we thought we would do something a little bit different for this video. We invited our editor extraordinaire, Ben Fundis, over to also do some shooting and get a little behind the scenes look for you all to see how we go about making the videos share with you. How did we turn our sailing yacht into a canal boat for our journey through the french canals? This week we demonstrate the process of preparing our Southerly 38 for the french canals. We had to build a frame for transporting the mast, take down the boom, sails and wind generator, and make everything ready for unstepping the mast on the Mediterranean side of France, in preparation for entering the Canal du Midi.
