In this episode, we begin clearing the east 'family' entrance of our 150 year old abandoned school. Beneath years of dust and neglect, we uncovered something that connected us to the people who once filled these halls. Discoveries like this are why restoring historic places matters. Every room has a story, and with each step we’re uncovering more of the past hidden inside these walls.

Here in Solo Sailor Atlantic Circuit Part 4, Mark and his modified Cape Dory 36 Swan continue their circle cruise of the Atlantic, sailing in November 2025 from Agadir, Morocco to Mindelo, Cape Verde. The next leg will be his return trans-Atlantic passage to the West Indies. A unique aspect of his voyage is that for auxiliary propulsion he is using a tilt-up 6kw electric outboard in a custom built well in the lazarette locker. Since it has very limited range he mainly uses it only to depart and enter harbor. On this passage he had persistent trade winds behind him and only a few hours of light winds so he did not need to motor at all once he cleared the harbor. For more videos on preparing his boat for this voyage, check out the Cape Dory 36 Refit Playlist on this channel.

The Numbus C11 is an outstanding hull and in a previous video I was able to experience this in NZ on an inboard diesel version. In this video we had outboards and some lumpy offshore conditions which was just awesome to be able to triel the boat in. If you're in a warmer climate and plan on using a boat like this as a commuter for the whole family then this video could be a sensible use of your time. This is a serious boat that is best suited to the boater who know's exactly what he/she enjoys doing on the water. But if you have that clear mission in mind and that mission involves big ocean, cold winds or harsh sun/heat then you will appreciate the C11. I'm going to say this was one of the most enjoyable rides i've had in lumpy conditions this year.
For the last 7 years we have been sailing and exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest waters of the San Juan Islands and British Columbia! We have loads of unseen footage from past years that we are excited to share and our future involves more sailing than we've ever been able to do! Each episode will be a story of its own, a glimpse into our lives aboard sailing Kist as we explore and document wild and secluded fjords to charming little coastal towns! We hope you enjoy a taste of cruising in this beautiful part of the world! Cheers, Lindsey and George
