Ever wondered how to paint the bottom of a sailboat with antifouling?? After 5 weeks of back breaking work we’re on the home stretch. We start off by sandblasting Delos’s bottom to take her back to the gel coat. After applying 3 coats of epoxy primer it’s time to spray on our new silicon based experimental antifouling paint- SeaSpeed VX 10. It takes about 2 gallons of paint and an airless sprayer to get the job done. 88 days of our Cape Town summer compressed into one megasode! Our friend Ian lends us his Pajero, which we immediately start using to go on missions around Cape Town. First up- we head to the Boss 400 to explore the freezing ass water around Cape Town. Shortly after Brian fixes the turbo charger on Delos's main engine. We then take a road trip to Up The Creek and soak in a real Afrikans Festival in the middle of a floaty party in a river. We sail 100nm overnight to our first stop in the Bahamas, Acklins Island. Being pregnant on a boat, you can imagine it can make any slight feelings of morning sickness or nausea amplify. So on this trip, I was feeling very nauseous the whole time and basically didn't leave my little sleeping spot in the saloon other than to make a mad dash to the back of the boat. I've had a pretty sweet ride so far, but sometimes when it gets tough it makes you not so keen for the next trip and you wonder how you will ever continue. The second Trimester is supposed to be easier, right? The weather has settled and we have a very small window to sail to the tiny island of Niue. Our seas are stunning, the down wind sail is perfect and the cats are loving the smooth ride. Until Mother Nature decides to throw us a curve ball: 30+ knots of wind for 24 hours straight. There's a massive weather system blowing 60+ just south of us, so the waves build in no time! The waves don't look huge from the video but believe me when we tell you they were crashing over the hard top. That means they were at least 15 feet tall! Explored a bit of beautiful (but crazily windy) Gibraltar, but couldn't wait to get back out on the water again.. We couldn't have asked for a better exit out the Gib Strait, with the wind and waves behind us we sat on an average of 7 knots with just the head sail out (plus catching two tuna..). Apart from being becalmed for two days and Riley mentioning how he 'wished he had an asymmetrical spinnaker' over 452,899 times, the 6 day passage went rather well. I have wanted to video one of their yachts for a long time, so when the opportunity to produce a video of the 111’ “Hyhma” presented itself I jumped at the chance, even though the yacht is not for sale at the moment. It is impossible to tell the story of “Hyhma” though without also referencing the shipyard that built her. This video opens the window on both the yacht…and the yacht builder. Many Italian shipyards claim to achieve the same excellence as their Northern European counterparts, Cantiere delle Marche never make such claims...they just let their yachts speak on their behalf.

In February 2020 we moved aboard our new floating home having purchased her only 6 months before sight unseen and proceeded to live in a trawler harbour for 2 years. We spent the next 2 years upgrading vital systems and electrics, treating rust and trying to learn as much as we could about sailing and sailboats whilst working full time. Josh worked at a sugar mill as an Electrician and instrumentation technician and Phoebe worked an online business and as a Librarian’s Assistant. In March of 2023 we set sail from our home port of Ballina, NSW, to embark on our first season of cruising up the East Coast of Queensland having only sailed Innerbloom a handful of times. It sounded insane…and it was! We were taking a chance on a dream having little to no control over its outcome. But we’re now at the tail end of our first season of sailing with no plans of stopping any time soon! We strive for transparency on our channel which means that we quite literally share all of the ebbs and floods of our novice sailing journey.It is our immense pleasure to share our story and adventures with you on the tube! We found a natural rock pool below a cliff and did some cliff diving into the pool. One of the locals did a really couple scary dives and made it look good. Of course the ladies looked fantastic in their bikinis! Then we had our final sail in the Lagoon 450 catamaran before turning it in at the charter base and saying good ye to the crew.
