This 1978 Endeavor 32 we picked up has a 2004 Westerbeke 20B Two engine in it with 270 hours, newer rigging, sails, and in-mast furling, new bronze thru-hulls, seacocks, and a recent full bottom job that repaired blisters and applied a barrier coat, and new anti-fouling. How can you get your own free boat? Well, there's no secret to it. We sail to Chaguramus Bay - Trinidad from Grenada to install a watermaker we had ordered. The mail arrives and we get started with the installation straight away in the marina. We decided it would be a smart idea to install one before we head into the Pacific, after one to many close calls of nearly running out of water on longer passages we've had in the past... We get the job done, and finally have some free time to go and checkout Trinidad. It's a pretty cool little spot! He comes from a long line of sea fearing people and even his father and grandfather were sailors. Yet, Gener didn't learn to sail from his father or grandfather. Because right about the time he was old enough to take to sea, most mariners had already traded their sails for engines. In 2008 Gener crewed on a sailing yacht from Palawan to Africa. He witnessed thriving traditional sailing cultures in the Indian Ocean and Middle East and began questioning why ancient Filipino sailing traditions were in danger of extinction. Gener was inspired to revive native sailing, natural navigation and boat building techniques in his home province of Palawan. The paraw project was launched to revive Palawan’s ancient sailing traditions and bring back the local art of sailing, natural navigation and paraw building. “A return to sailing makes sense – our marine environment is under threat and fuel prices are rising. Proceeding forward to starboard is the Master or VIP stateroom on this main deck with a beautiful en-suite head with bath and large hanging lockers. Across the hall through an electric hidden pocket door is the access to the Main Galley the size and equipment as you would expect on any large superyacht (much larger than any Sport Fishing Yachts) with three private double crew staterooms for up to six crew (as you would expect to see in a superyacht). Proceeding up from the Main Salon you enter the Sky Lounge/Helm area. This area gives you a second salon with excellent panoramic views at anchor or underway. Forward is the main helm area complete with all the navigations electronics your captain could ask for. The aft electric doors lead to upper deck lounging and a dining area for alfresco dining in the open air (similar feel to a large motor yacht). Up easy steps to the upper Flying Bridge complete with hard top and lounging area (like on a large Motoryacht) as well as a forward command station for full operation and an aft command station for operating the vessel for landing large fish or deep dropping for bottom fishing. On the foredeck is a large sun area complete with a six person Jacuzzi tub also the perfect area for entertaining larger groups.
