Diesel filters. In Your Sailboat.Marine Diesel filters. How they work, How to change them on your sailing boat? We look at the things you need to know if your going to sail away! Welcome to our channel. We are now in season 6 In 2018 we left the UK to sail around the world slowly. This boat surprised me in a positive way. The Cranchi A46 Luxury Tender is so much more than a tender I don't think that name is actually being fair to the design. You could operate it as a tender, an overnighter and a party boat for 20 people! Join me while I discover how she performs and then take a detailed into the layout and high build quality Cranchi have put into this boat. This is a brand I do not have any experience with and now I want to learn more about these guys! In today's episode, we'll look into some of the most affordable cruising or sailing catamarans on the market. This is an update on our past video on multihull sailing yachts, and we’ll talk about design features, performance numbers, and the ideal price range, so be sure to watch until the end to see our top pick! Catamarans come in a wide range of sizes and styles. However, when you're on a budget, it's recommended to stick with the average price of around 250,000 to 500,000 US dollars brand new. Cruising catamarans, in particular, can reach up to 45 or 50 feet as they are designed for long-distance travel. Known for their safety and stability, an average cat can last up to 25 years, or perhaps even more if well-maintained, and these vessels can sail through rough waters and oceans. Each catamaran can offer a long list of amenities and features to choose from, which is precisely what we'll try to cover in this video. ⛵️ Leave a LIKE, write a COMMENT, and SHARE this video if you enjoyed it! ⛵️ SUBSCRIBE and click the notification BELL to be updated with new episodes! With Ruggero Tita and Vittorio Bissaro both away sailing Nacra 17 ‘s in Palma it was the turn of Jacopo Plazzi, the 49er ace, to partner with Francesco Bruni on the first day back on the water for Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli’s LEQ12 after an extensive ten-day period of maintenance, refit, and upgrade. Immediately out of the shed the newly declared port foil could be seen and offered, perhaps, a distinct clue as to the design direction that the Italians are pursuing. The day was all about early foil evaluation with long runs extracting both the performance and media data that the designers and engineers will be comparing against their computer modelling. Speaking about the process to bring the new foil into commission, design chief Horacio Carabelli commented: “It's a long process, the design of these wings, not only from the hydro point of view but from the manufacturing point of view, it's pretty long. So this month we have worked pretty hard from the engineering point of view and putting things together and today was more a commissioning day for it so we have a lot to learn about it for the next weeks. It’s pretty important that it’s coming along as the ‘last card’ that we have to play on it so pretty happy with today. I think it was very, very, efficient and we got the numbers and expectations. We had all the engineers onboard also taking a look at it, so pretty happy overall.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

Our favorite thing about this lifestyle is the ability to live in wild and remote parts of the planet. The feeling of waking up in our own home and yet surrounded by wilderness is indescribable, and has been the main driving force behind all of our efforts. But in order for us to release weekly episodes we need to be in a place that has relatively fast and reliable internet, something that is hard to come by when sailing in remote areas. So heading off grid and then rushing back to civilization has always been a challenging balancing act for us. But all of that is about to change... There’s something in the air around INEOS Britannia at the moment as the team push ever harder with ‘T6’ their LEQ12 prototype and just look better and better, oozing confidence in the platform and thoroughly enjoying the process. Today (Wednesday) the sailors had a mammoth, productive session flying around to the east of the Bay of Palma, seeking waves and wind to really get to grips with the new rig set-up, modes and of course, the much talked about W-Foil. Speaking afterwards, Bleddyn Mon who is such a vital link between the sailors and engineers, gave a terrific interview with the recon team and summed the day up brilliantly saying: “It was a perfect day out there, kind of medium-strong sea breeze and great conditions for us testing and actually able to get a variety of sea states across the Bay…we had a few design related tests to do in the first part of the session, kind of testing at various boat speeds and pitch angles and cant angles and then later in the day it was more kind of VMG sailing and exploring sailing the boat in a bit more sea state so we headed out to the east of the Bay.” Section 41. Ep 41 – Testing the Batteries / Sailing Free Spirit This was taken over the course of 2 very cold weekends over Christmas and New Year’s. We tested out the batteries and Victron system to see what our actual usage is with the boat running as full capacity with heater, coffeepot, cooking and TV on. We lasted about 2.5 hours before we needed to plug back into the dock and keep our sealed lead acid batteries at 50%. The Nimbus T9 is the result of more than 50 years of boat building experience from this Swedish builder, and it shows! Great quality, intelligent design and excellent sea keeping qualities make it a boat that is equally suited to maritime adventures as it is to lazy G&T's at anchor. We were impressed by this sub 30 footer but tell us what you think as Finn takes on a full walkthrough! Thanks to the team at Nimbus for giving The Marine Channel access to the boat. Emirates Team New Zealand completed a vital day of light airs training out in Auckland with ‘Te Rehutai’, the team’s much modified AC75, seeking down-range maximum power in a breeze that struggled to get above 8 knots all throughout the afternoon. After sailing, a stoked Scott Barnes talked to the recon team specifically about his area of hydraulics and speaking about the pump system he said: “It's a one design component for all the teams, the pump for the cyclors, so all the teams will have the same kit…we have got a different setup of cylinders on the boat because now the boats don’t have runners, you’re moving different displacements around, but you know it's all the same sort of principle…There are different displacements you can choose…there’s a huge range that you can cater for your own design. (Higher volume lower pressure and vice versa – as noted by the recon team). The rule is 600 BAR in the sailing circuit, which is quite high as a maximum so all the teams will be pushing that I guess???there’s a class accumulator which is titanium and yeah that’s pushing the boundaries too.” Section 41.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe was on the water in Palma today to witness a sensational training session of ‘T6’, the British team’s LEQ12 test platform, as Ben Ainslie and Giles Scott pushed it to the outer limits. At times, T6 looked almost supersonic as they rocketed around the Bay hitting mid-30 knots upwind and well into 40 knot barrier downwind and had the innovative W-Foil really performing to its profile. Luke Parkinson is one of the key flight controllers for INEOS Britannia who brings a wealth of foiling talent and long experience to this America’s Cup campaign. Speaking afterwards he gave a terrific interview with the recon team who dug into the differences that he can feel between the foil designs: “It's definitely an interesting concept and there's a lot of pros and cons to it. It's something that we looked at last Cup and the designers wanted to look at it again. I guess it's just different junction heights that’s really the big thing but there's different angles and forces going on so there’s a fair bit of interesting things…Each foil is always different depending on a T or a W or the albatross like the Team New Zealand one. They all have different little features to refine the window of where you fly them to get their performance.” Section 41. Setting out into dense Pensacola midday fog, the NYYC American Magic Team had a clear focus today (Tuesday) to push their new starboard foil outside of the comfort zone and start imagining real-life race scenarios that the team will face in the upcoming pre-regattas later this year. Much attention was being paid, in relatively marginal conditions, to stalling out ‘America’ by dropping to the bustle and then re-powering on quickly and that transition from low to high power was perhaps more of a sail trim and crew positioning exercise than anything foil driven. Late in the afternoon, ‘America’ stopped and sent a diver down to inspect the starboard foil arm with crew members seen pointing at and inspecting the patch where it’s presumed the innovative actuator is housed and speaking afterward David Oliver a member of the American Magic design team gave little away but did say: “We were just assessing the condition of the boat, you know they're complex machines and we have to be sure we're on top of all the maintenance, everything going on inside the boat and outside and so if anything potentially looks out of the ordinary we always want to make sure we're doing a full assessment to avoid any bigger problems down the road .” Section 41. If there’s one thing we are learning this week from recon units all over the world, it’s that AC40’s in big swell require a huge amount of technique and skill to keep upright and flying fast. Today out in Barcelona with wave heights estimated at around 1.5 metres, Alinghi Red Bull Racing had the AC40 rocking and rolling with a new crew formation onboard, especially downwind, where they wrestled with ride height to keep the foils immersed. They did a brilliant job. After sailing, the recon team caught up with double America’s Cup winner Nils Frei who is such a calming influence on the team and brimming with experience. It’s a rare interview and Nils is happy with how Alinghi Red Bull Racing have progressed in eight short months saying: “Time is flying and we're flying better and better as well so that's good. A lot of things going on, obviously first we learned to sail the AC75 and so we had really good months last year in the Autumn and then now since a couple of weeks or a couple of months already sailing with the first AC40, so yes, it's been really interesting. So many things have happened - the crew has evolved a lot too, we had a lot of crew swaps as well, doing a lot of rotations, so I think it's coming together nicely.” Section 41. This GS34 PERFORMANCE VERSION has been lightly raced and also fine-tuned and tweaked by an experienced owner who has done well in a few races with podium finishes. Recent PHRF and ORC rating certificates available. The design and naval architecture process have been realized with great attention. The aim was to create an offshore racing boat that is both easy to sail at maximum performance and a very comfortable fast cruiser. The GS 34 Performance, with an improved sail plan and appendages, has been designed for IRC handicap rating in offshore races and for ORC and PHRF. This way, the boat can be competitive in both offshore and inshore International regulations with a better rating. An unspecified and highly unusual below-decks gear breakage curtailed Emirates Team New Zealand’s second day of training this week aboard ‘Te Rehutai’ in Auckland on Tuesday. The team were out for just under an hour before calling it a day but some superb footage came back from the recon unit up close on flat water and highlighting just how comfortable the Kiwis are getting with the boat that they nickname “the big school bus.” Simon van Velthooven, one of the super-fit power group of Emirates Team New Zealand summed it up brilliantly after sailing saying: “Yeah we’re starting throw it around a bit more now and probably the G-forces feel like it was pre-racing here in Auckland. Everyone is getting more comfortable in the ‘big school bus’ and yeah I'm just obviously excited for the further upgrades and further refinement and really starting to rip into it.” Section 41. Determined to extract the absolute maximum from their remaining time in Pensacola, NYYC American Magic ventured offshore to find a challenging sea state with a short period to rifle through a variety of cant angles and aero set ups and extract the vital foil data that will determine the final design direction for the team’s soon-to-be-built AC75. Speaking afterwards, Lucas Calabrese offered a brilliant insight into just how cool this team is and, talking about the capsize, he almost made it sound fun: “Yeah obviously it's pretty challenging, you have the bustle that is hanging down on the boat and then you have the foil that is coming in and out of the waves so it's hard to manage the balance between keeping the bustle out of the water and the foil not coming out of the water. It was just one of those days, pretty tough conditions and…we stuffed the bow and then got slow and ended up in a pretty fun capsize.” Section 41. Riding high above an, at times, two metre swell out on a pitch-perfect Barcelona afternoon, Alinghi Red Bull Racing had their AC40 in a new performance mode, keeping the bow up and the hull very level. Arnaud Psarofaghis and Maxime Bachelin, who had swapped pods in an interesting bit of A/B test sailing, were noticeably dialled into the mode, relentlessly pursuing a very high flight downwind and absolutely nailing laylines over a short course. Bear-aways were flat and fast, gybes were super-high and pre-start circling practice was co-ordinated and slick between the pair. With the design team now far down the road of finalising their one-build AC75 that will challenge next year for the America’s Cup, the recon team managed to grab a fascinating interview with Nico Bailey, formerly an aeronautical engineer for Airbus, who was corralled into the American Magic programme for the 36th America’s Cup before joining Alinghi Red Bull Racing for this cycle. With some wide variations in foil design being trialled on LEQ12 prototypes by all the teams, Nico gave an insight into the Swiss programme saying: “I guess all the teams are the same, we try to model with as high a fidelity as possible. All the foils we model in all our setup tools that we have, so Simulator, CFD, all kinds of calculations and we try to understand what are the weakness of the opponents and what are the good points to try to make the best possible.” Section 41. Such is the talent coursing through the whole INEOS Britannia organisation that the complex challenge of the new W-Foil that the team are sporting on the short starboard arm, is being taken head-on and, whisper it quietly, is beginning to look like the early foothills of a game-changer. Always the model of professionalism and brilliant in interview, Giles Scott gave such a good, calm insight into how the INEOS Britannia programme is progressing, covering a wide waterfront in interview with yachting journalist and recon supremo Justin Chisholm. Talking about the foil testing today, Giles contextualised the day saying: “We were just looking at various states of the new foil, how it acts and basically providing a lot of data for the guys back in Brackley to dig through with that new foil…we like it, it's certainly different. It's certainly no secret that it's very different to the one on the other side and, you know, really at this stage we're exploring the design space and hopefully it'll all just help us make the right call for the race wing.” Section 41. Marcus Hansen talks through his first day back on Te Rehutai since winning the Cup in 2021. There are many valid reasons for Emirates Team New Zealand re-launching ‘Te Rehutai’ and operating at scale on Auckland waters in the run-in to the team de-camping to Barcelona for the European summer and sailing AC40’s both at the venue and the September pre-regatta in Vilanova I la Geltru. Section 41.

They call themselves ‘American Magic’ and after a thrilling 1st April session there was simply no doubt that technical sorcery and sailing craft of the highest order were on display out on an initially foggy, misty, spooky Pensacola Bay. No April Fools, when the mist cleared, this was top drawer sailing from two of the finest foiling sailors of a generation in Paul Goodison and Tom Slingsby who both transitioned so effortlessly to flight from a thorough and decorated schooling in displacement dinghies. Today they put everything into a session where the memo clearly stated: ‘push this to the limits.’ Paul Goodison, always a peerless interviewee, spoke to Mike Pedersen of the recon unit after sailing and contextualised the day, saying: “We wanted to push the new foil wing pretty hard and see how fast we could go, so we chose to take it on today and we’ve seen some pretty high gusts up there and doing some really nice speeds. It was really good just to get a feel for the difference between the two boards how they accelerate and their top speeds …We were seeing over 20 knots (of breeze) and we came pretty close to 50 knots just at the end there on the new foil which is pretty impressive.” Section 41. I had a brief opportunity to sea trial the Majesty 111 on her way back to the factory following the Dubai Boat Show so we took this opportunity to see what we could discover about her speed, revs, fuel consumption and any other general observations we could make in the brief time we had available. As drones are heavily restricted in the UAE I have to thank Gulf Craft for providing these aerials do to me not being allowed to fly my drone. I hope this video answers some questions you may have about the performance of the 111 and as soon as I get an opportunity to join for a real sea trial I will do that and bring it to you here on the channel.
