In this episode, we'll dive into the latest Mako Boats for your fishing adventures. These are some of the best inshore and offshore boats you can find on the market, so we'll check out their most essential features along with their current asking prices. Be sure to stick around until the end of the video for our top pick! Since 1967, MAKO Boats quickly gained a reputation for their durable, innovative designs built for saltwater fishing. This can be traced to its founder, Robert Schewbke, who began the development of MAKO boats by building boats for his friends, capable of accommodating the needs of quote, "everyman". Now, as part of White River Marine Group (WMRG), the world's largest boat builder by sheer volume, MAKO Boats continues to command the respect of saltwater anglers. Available for both inshore and offshore models, we'll be tackling five of the best MAKO Boats in this video. ⛵️ Leave a LIKE, write a COMMENT, and SHARE this video if you enjoyed it! ⛵️ SUBSCRIBE and click the notification BELL to be updated with new episodes! This episode is a wee bit different from the previous, it doesn’t so much tell the story of our adventure (which we will continue with in a fortnight), but gives you an in-site into our which equipment we are using and what we think about it. As novice cyclists it was pretty difficult to choose equipment - this involved doing lots of reserch on different set ups and looking at the pros and cons of each. I hope that this video will make this selection process easier for someone else looking to do a similar trip! All of the equipment (excluding bikes) was purchased from @wildearthaustralia who are suuuper experienced in the outdoors and very helpful with assisting us. The Mayor of Pensacola was treated to an afternoon on the NYYC American Magic chase boat as the team rounded out the month of March with yet another scintillating, high flying session full of technique sailing from Paul Goodison, Tom Slingsby and Riley Gibbs. Speaking afterwards, Trevor gave a superb interview, summing up what American Magic are seeking to achieve on a daily basis: “We’re going through our matrix of different sail setups, different foil setups, looking at the difference between the One Design foil from Team New Zealand and the foil that we've made and how it performs in different conditions… we're going through all the different iterations of windward heel, flat boat with more cant or fully leaned over to windward with the foils a little more under the boat and just seeing what it does for our speed, our VMG in different conditions, different wind speeds, different wave heights all those different variables that go into making the boat go fast.” Section 41. Reconnaissance a) As a campaign cost reduction measure, COR/D has mutually agreed to cooperatively implement a centralised reconnaissance programme for all teams for the reconnaissance of all Competitors’ AC75 Yachts, AC40 Yachts and LEQ12 yachts including both on-land and on-water imagery (the “Joint Recon Programme”). b) Each team is assigned a two-person Recon Unit to follow their every on-water move, but it's not that simple. The cameras are supplied and identical for all Recon Units. Drones are not allowed, and they can't get that close, plus following a boat and keeping a camera steady at 45 knots isn't that easy to begin with. c) A three minute interview follows each on water day, and teams must answer the Recon Unit's questions while trying not to give too much away. It's a raw, unedited view of the never before seen behind-the-scenes development of a team and their boat to win the oldest trophy in international sports. #AC37Recon #AmericasCup #Barcelona2024

The hours on the water are clocking up for Alinghi Red Bull Racing in the AC40 and the translation to sailing performance and dynamite technique was much in evidence on a thrilling session on Thursday that offered a huge insight into what the America’s Cup world can expect when these exciting foilers get racing in September. All credit to the sailors who have responded to coaching superbly but the guidance that Sailing Team Advisors Pietro Sibello and Dean Barker have imparted to this young, keen team has been invaluable. In interview afterwards Pietro gave a brilliant insight into how they’ve approached this block of pre-start training saying: “Our focus this week is to use the AC40 to practise the pre starts and the laps around marks, mark roundings and manoeuvres as well. In the pre-start the boats are really fast and the time of the pre-start is two minutes in the box - the box where you can sail is not really big, so you need to practise on how to use, in the best way, the time you have after the entry and of course there are different schemes you can use and to slow down there are different techniques you have seen, for sure us sailing with two boards down that's a technique to slow down the boat and being a bit more precise on where to position the boat and then kill the time… when the wind is super light, like today at the end of the session, you don't want to slow down too much because then you cannot manoeuvre. So it's a bit more critical to use this technique but when the wind is a bit higher and the boat speed is higher as well then you need somehow to slow down the boat and bringing the second board down (increase) the drag and reduce the righting moment so the speed goes down and it’s easier to go around the box.” Section 41. It was a big day of foil evaluation for New York Yacht Club American Magic offshore from Pensacola Bay as the team brought more new technology to the party on the beautifully sculpted starboard foil in the form of a covering plate high up on their foil arm, similar to what we are seeing (and have seen) with Emirates Team New Zealand on their AC75 ‘Te Rehutai.’ With a long-span foil to control on ‘America’ thoughts turn towards what’s called the ’actuator’ system which controls the trim of the foil flap as an explanation for the new covering. It’s certainly hiding something. Andrew Campbell, one of the best interviewees in the Cup, gave some great, honest insight into the programme which has another month to run before the team trip over to Barcelona and take charge of their second AC40 on arrival. Talking about the foil development, he commented: “We're just doing a lot of experiments with these foils trying to understand what types of modifications we can be looking at moving forward and it's all part of our appendage exploration here trying to get a feel for what shapes are going to be right long term… these boats are a handful to sail when the sea state is such that the T-sync you know where the foil, the bulb in the water and the bottom of the hull and the waves get bigger than that distance - you can find yourself in trouble pretty quick.” Section 41. Ray Davies describes Emirates Team New Zealand’s re-built America’s Cup winning platform as being “almost a new boat” and as such, the Kiwis are revelling in their new toy and today (Wednesday) put in a mammoth session covering 120 nautical miles in just four hours with plenty of breaks for changes and crew rotations. Astonishing speed was witnessed for a while until ‘Te Rehutai’ dropped the Recon Unit as they found a 1 metre waveform far offshore and distanced the RIB that has a top speed of around 46-47 knots. If you want to find proof as to why the AC40 is the world’s most exciting new class of foiling monohull, look no further than the video of Alinghi Red Bull Racing sailing in swell on the America’s Cup racecourse on Tuesday. Sensational stuff from the young Swiss team who looked masterful in the 1m waveforms with occasional white-tops over a delicious 12-14 knots of late afternoon ‘Garbi’ south-south-westerly. Speaking afterwards, the vastly experienced double America’s Cup winner Yves Detrey gave a great insight into the day saying: “We are still in the process of trying out things and we're trying the ride height and pitch trim and also the cant angles. We play with all these parameters at the moment so that's why sometimes we are changing the behaviour of our boat on the water because we don't have all the answers yet.” Section 41. Minimising downtime in an America’s Cup programme is a golden elixir, rarely achieved but always strived for and with such technically advanced boats being built, re-built, tested, and modified, the gremlins do, on occasion, creep in. For INEOS Britannia it was just one of those days after a scintillating foil data session on Tuesday, with sunshine and a perfect 6-10 knot breeze that looked set to build into the late afternoon, greeting the sailors on Wednesday. Speaking afterwards, Jeff Causey the Shore Team Manager for INEOS Britannia was understandably giving few specifics away but put the situation in perspective saying: “We've just come out of the shed from being through this upgrade period for last few weeks so there's quite a lot of new kit on the boat and some of the new bits that we’re trying out didn't work as well today as we would have liked and that's part of what we're doing out there, so short day for us." Section 41. Calm efficiency pervades Emirates Team New Zealand at the moment as they quietly go about their sailing programme in Auckland shorn of razzmatazz but high on output with Te Rehutai simply looking better and better as the days go on. The recon unit even commented that the team seemed ‘mellow’ with everyone dialled into their jobs and roles – there’s no tall poppies, that’s the Kiwi way. And what this efficiency translates into is performance with their AC75 looking dynamite fast and leaving the following RIBs way in their wake and having to cut gybe corners to get close again. The area they call the ‘Back Paddock’ was the testing ground today and Tony Rae, the seven-time Cup specialist and veteran of the legendary 1995 ‘Black Magic’ team who is now the team’s highly respected Chase Boat driver saw it as another good day, saying: “It worked out really well. It was kind of what Ray (Davies) said the breeze was going to do. It took a little while to get going but we managed to sort of tow down the harbour and it ended up nothing. Then we got out to the Bean Rock area and off we went but yeah it was super flat water and it was strange patches because it took a while for that breeze to fill in down to the Back Paddock. We sort of followed it down as Pete (Burling) was saying on the radio you know just do a few gybes and just sort of inch our way down there towards Maraetai, set up a course and did a few laps and it all looked pretty good to me.” Section 41. There’s an air of change around Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli as their LEQ12 rolled into the shed for what is expected to be up to a ten-day break as the team brings in the next level of design and systems changes in their quest to win the America’s Cup. There’s also the news that the Italian AC40 will be arriving within the next few weeks and the whole programme looks set to go up another level – from a very high base. Much credit for the enhancement of the sailing technique can be claimed by the extensive coaching team that the Italians have hired for this America’s Cup cycle and Jocopo Plazzi, the former 49er ace (sailing with Andrea Tesei) gave a good insight into the team’s development approach saying: “Every team is improving a lot in this month, we can see it from the recon and every team is doing a very good progression on the technical side and testing a bunch of different things and yeah we're looking closely and for sure when we see a good idea on the side we tried to understand why everybody is doing it and then try to do our own.” Section 41. Alinghi Red Bull Racing were stratospheric on Monday, honing and perfecting a high flight mode on their AC40 in lumpy, choppy conditions that called for accuracy from the Flight Controllers as the Swiss stayed high and clear in the 10-knot breeze. It was a devastating training performance, showing right where this team is at with quiet confidence coursing through the sailors and an effortless style being displayed. It was different in style to what we see elsewhere around the world as the other teams sail in both their AC40’s and LEQ12’s but this is Barcelona, the venue for the 37th America’s Cup, and the value in training onsite is not to be underestimated. Nicolas Charbonnier is one of the key helmsmen for Alinghi Red Bull Racing and is proving to be an excellent, complementary helm to Arnaud Psarofaghis in both the AC75 and AC40. Nicolas is looking forward to hitting that start-line against all the other America’s Cup teams, saying: “I mean when you see these boats sailing it's amazing, so when you can see six boats together racing each other it will be…amazing. I think it will be really, really good fun. We are looking forward to being on the starting line.” Section 41. The SS Île de France launched on March 14th, 1926 was one of the most successful ocean liners to ever sail the Atlantic. Her luxury and glamour kept her popular even through the depths of the Great Depression. Over the course of her over 30-year career she hosted numerous celebrities, played a critical role in World War 2, rescued 753 passengers from the sinking Andrea Doria, and starred in a cheesy action film called the last voyage. She was truly one of a kind. Check out this Bayliner VR4 complete with convertible top. The latest in our VR Series of highly evolved bowriders, the VR4 is easy to tow, launch and store—and really fun to use. The smallest VR Series model delivers plenty of interior space thanks to our BeamForward™ design, which carries the full beam further forward for more comfort and capacity than traditional pointed bows. Our AftAdvantage™ design increases the rear seating area by shifting it to the aft-most point of the running surface, allowing the swim platform to extend beyond that. Emirates Team New Zealand put on quite a show out on the Hauraki Gulf on Saturday with ‘Te Rehutai’ the team’s much modified AC75 at full bore with the recon unit struggling to keep pace. Initial estimates suggest that speeds in excess of 50 knots were recorded but the team kept tight lipped about the performance with Elise Beavis, the team’s Performance Engineer, only confirming that it was “the fastest we've gone this campaign.” Section 41. New York Yacht Club American Magic made the absolute best of a light-weather training day in Pensacola on Friday with the sailors working hard on technique whilst also gathering crucial foil data as the testing programme continues with their new starboard anhedral on the AC40 that is now in full-on LEQ12 development mode. The team also declared a new mainsail and number 2 jib as they seek to scale-test ahead of their new AC75 that will go into build in the next few months. Andrew Campbell, one of the team’s key Flight Controllers gave a superb interview after sailing on Friday and is more than keen to get racing the AC40, saying: “I've never sailed in Vilanova before but I'm definitely excited to be there. There are a lot of great spots on that South Coast of Spain facing the Mediterranean that we've all sailed before, but this will be a new one for many of us and you know we're excited about a new venue. Expectations are that it will be similar to Barcelona in a lot of ways, it's not that far away and now we're looking forward to making the most of it…any time we can get the team into a racing format it puts us under pressure and that gives us a better chance to be ready on race day when we get the AC75 on the water so looking to get this team racing in any way we can but you know in a format that looks like the AC75 in the AC40, that's the greatest opportunity we could possibly ask for.” Section 41. World Cat created two new flagship models, one a center console (our 400CC-X test model) and one a dual console (the 400DC-X), to sit at the top of the food chain. At 39’8” (12.09m) these models are quite a leap above the next smaller 32’ (9.75m) models, and the builder spared nothing when equipping these new cats. With a host of modular options, this large catamaran can manage to fit the bill for a host of tasks, be it fishing, entertaining, diving or cruising. Ben Ainslie was back in Palma on Saturday for INEOS Britannia’s first proper test sail of their much-modified and upgraded LEQ12 prototype, codenamed ‘T6’, and what a session it was. The British were keen to get foiling on the starboard W-foil that has divided opinion in the America’s Cup community but on first showing, it looked rapid and stable in a straight-line whilst tacks appeared to be razor sharp upwind. This is a design direction they pursued in AC36 with wings that didn’t end up making the raceboat but with some tweaks to the rule that have opened up this direction, this highly technical team could well be on to something very interesting.
