Ruster Yachts 33. While we made the Rustler name producing high-quality go-anywhere offshore cruisers, we love our pretty weekender cruiser the Ruster 33. She's as easy to sail as she is on the eye. The loads are light and the responsiveness of her helm is a delight that everyone should experience. When the sun is out and there's an afternoon sea breeze, there are few better places to be. Ever wondered how an Englishman ended up aboard a cruise in the Bay of Islands? Here is Jonny's story about how he arrived in the Bay of Islands. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/
Here aboard The Rock we love what we do. Timo talks about why that's important to him & how he found out that working and living on the water makes him happy. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/
A Kiwi Kid from way back Sarah managed to drag Jonny back to the Bay of Islands to spend their time doing what they love. Sharing the ocean (in the water, on the water & around the water) with people from New Zealand and all over the world. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/
Behind the scenes we always have an amazing team making sure everything flows smoothly. Katja is one of those team members. Organised & passionate about the Bay of Islands you couldn't ask for anyone better to help you with your trip to the Bay of Islands. https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/
Another Kiwi Kid this time from Rotorua. Nic can often be spotted skateboarding down the wharf with a load of laundry or provisions for the ship. Or deep below the water freediving for some kai moana https://www.rocktheboat.co.nz/
In June 2017 the All Wales Boat Show was held in Conwy, North Wales - an area we know because we have sailed there - so we decided to go and have a look. It was a small show, nothing like Southampton, but it was still an enjoyable day out even though the weather was not the kindest. ----- Links ----- Jethros Marinades and Sauces - http://www.jethros.co.uk 3D Nautical Charts - http://www.nautical3dcharts.co.uk Welsh Government - Marine and Fisheries http://gov.wales/topics/environmentcountryside/marineandfisheries?lang=en ----- Music ----- Artist: Nicolai Heidlas Title: Modern Title: Sunny Holidays https://soundcloud.com/nicolai-heidlas "Music for Manatees" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com) Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0 License http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/

Being in Mallorca we could not miss its capital, so we took a bus to Palma de Mallorca. It was my dream to see it, I was super happy to walk those tiny streets and see carriages all over. The day after we left "that best anchorage so far" and headed directly to France. Music by Andrew Rothschild (https://soundcloud.com/aroths) Really appreciate the support, check out the Patreon for more access and perks: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon If Patreon isn't your thing, I also have a Paypal.me link: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel to world. I make travel vlogs about my Vanlife, sharing vanlife ideas, vanlife tips, and travel diaries. Instagram: @Finding_Simon Snapchat: Finding_Simon Twitter: @FindingSimon Donations: paypal.me/ShelbyandSimon Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/FindingSimon Merchandise: http://simonstiles.com/finding-simon/ :::::::FAQ::::::: - How do you afford to travel constantly? A: I live in a van, which certainly cuts costs down but still I need to make some money in order to afford to continue, currently I make 90% of my income through working as a photographer/videographer. I regularly work for Airbnb as a real estate photographer and I also take on bigger commercial contracts whenever I get the chance. - How much does it cost? I spend on average $2000 travelling, most of which is gas, some repairs, food, and on average less than $200 on any eating out, shopping or extra curricular expenditures. I make $200 a month from YouTube and $400 from Patreon. The rest I make from my work. - What camera do you use? Sony A7ii, Nikon D810, Sony RX100 iii, DJI Phantom 3 Advanced, Rode Videomic with Deadcat, Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, Underwater Housing, tripods and lights. - What is your van? 1992 Dodge B350 Travelhome with the 5.9L TBI gas engine. I spent $3500 buying it and so far another $9000 in repairs upgrades and maintenance. - What're your plans? Travel forever. The Arctic this summer, Asia next winter, Sailboat the world after. I want to see this whole world, and I'm playing it all by ear. - How do you find all these cool places? To gain access to my complete research you need to hit me up on Patreon, but here's a few sites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/ https://www.campendium.com/ http://www.atlasobscura.com/ https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - What do you do for Internet? I use coffeeshops and libraries to upload episodes a few at a time, I also use my wifi antenna (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5T9lNM8Mukk&t=2s) and a data package on my phone (10GB) - How do you live in a van with a dog? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with my dog anyways, especially if it's warm out in the middle of the day. If I have to leave him inside the van I cover the front seats so he can't climb up and stare out the window and bark. I cover all the windows with reflectix panels I made for insulation, I turn my fantastic sucking air out on max (replaces all the air in the van every 90 seconds). I crack one window in a shaddy lower part of the van to create a consistent airflow. Other than that the fiberglass roof and insulation do a fantastic job of keeping the heat out. In colder climates I set the furnace on at minimum and close down all the windows same as for heat minus venting. - What happened to the girl? We decided to go seperate ways (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPgxDIXxCjY&t=4s) - Are you rich or something? definitely not. I've spent some quality time homeless, I've struggled financially most of my life, and although I'm blessed with great friends and family as well as being able bodied white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to travel the world. You need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, time with family, and often your career but it is possible. - Why don't you have 10x more subscribers? My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharring my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time.

(Forgive the different format, this was going to be for us only but i decided it is part of our life story and all refits and living aboard life styles need a little variety. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. Building a Jay Benford designed, 32ft junk schooner dory. In this video, I talk about resources, choices and plans with respect to the build. In particular, I show the books that have inspired me most in this choice of boatbuild - Voyaging On A Small Income; The Gougeon Brothers On Boat Construction; Practical Junk Rig; Buehler's Backyard Boatbuilding and Building Badger. All music from these videos is available from: https://ynotb.bandcamp.com/album/the-sv-tapatya-tracks Follow the build, along with the story of my first cruising adventure (The Miss Molly I Adventures) on my website; http://www.svtapatya.com Support the build, the vlog, the blog and the writing on; https://www.patreon.com/sv_tapatya Or follow me on Instagram for various shots of my boating life; https://www.instagram.com/sv.tapatya This is the story of my building of a Jay Benford designed, 31.8ft, junk-rigged, schooner dory. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Lately, there have been a handful of setbacks and some successes! The Boat Life has been busy making videos in an effort to put out a video a week! We know this has been an ongoing request and we are gearing up to release more frequent vlogs about moving onto the sailboat! In addition to making more sailing videos, we are in the process of making a new website. The new site is going to look awesome and have more information about life on a sailboat that we will publish as we liveaboard. Also, we will be creating more expanded content that elaborates on the videos for our blog. On top of all that, we are making all new cushions for our sailboat. There are 14 cushions in total to make, which makes for a lot of sewing. This is The Boat Life. Nic Morganti and Melissa Auman are moving onto a sailboat. The plan was sell everything, buy a boat, live on the boat, and travel and explore the Caribbean and the world while living aboard! Simple plan, but lots to learn and do along the way. Join our adventure as we sail away, live on a sailboat, and explore life aboard. Thanks for watching! Subscribe to get onboard! Don't forget to click the little red bell to be notified of new videos. Our main focus is on growing woody ornamental shrubs, ground covers, vines, and trees as well as indigenous palms: the “staple” plants of Florida’s commercial and residential landscapes. A wholesale supplier and grower, we offer prices that are consistently 30-50% lower than Home Depots or Lowe’s. Come to us for all your plant material needs to design your landscape. Florida friendly landscapes We grow hundreds of plants that do well in the Tampa Bay area and particularly, in its Northern parts, such as Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties: these plants are heat and drought tolerant, cold hardy, and well suited for local soil quality and alkalinity. Our own home-grown inventory of cold-sensitive plants like Arboricola, Ruella, Plumbago, etc… is ready for the summer, and we are able to offer these plants for sale even at a greater discount. Colorful tropical landscapes Shortly after the winter cold has passed and the demand for color and “tropical looks” increases, we begin to offer a variety of tropical plants which we bring in from nurseries in Miami and Homestead. Part one in a series of videos for the purists out there, or those simply looking to go ocean cruising on the cheap. For those who choose to have inboard power, which is most of you, I hope these vids will inspire you to hone your sailing skills to the point where you know that you can handle the boat without any help from the engine if need be. In this video I illustrate sailing off anchor in a congested, narrow harbor.
We've had a survey done on a great boat - an Amel Super Maramu - but it's far from perfect and there's a lot of work to do on it. Nevertheless, we've put a deposit down and are steaming ahead! Even so, preparing to live the dream is stressful - we have to sell the car, pack up a house and rent it out.. all during the kids summer holidays! Transcript Woody went to Greece for a sea trial and survey of the boat that we're really interested in and the guy that was with him - who’s a surveyor - they were working long hours so he didn't get much time to do too much drinking this time which is good! Greece is a good place to start for sailing because it's often flat seas and it's going to be nice and warm. On a sea trial you take a boat out, you get the sails up the engine on and you test everything to see if it works and you also see if you actually like the way the boat sails. This is the Amel Super Maramu, 53 Foot. We're doing the sea trials.. just off the coast of Lefkas So I'm really glad we got the survey done by someone who we really trust and yeah, i's a good 27 pages and all the things that highlighted - stuff that we probably weren't aware of actually. Loads of things need changing, lots repairs, some things need replacing the generator needs a lot of work on it. Engine’s okay but needs a good overhaul. It's basically like to doer upper. Obviously there's a lot of money we've got to put into it to fix it up. So I'm really excited that we finally got that stage - we found a really good sea worthy, strong boat and that's the main thing for me really. So I'm kind of excited about finding that boats and I’m also really excited about going but I know at the moment the excitement isn’t really there because I'm just trying to get the thing done. We've put a deposit down and we hope the deposit is secure because the last deposit we put down on a boat the money got lost for about 10 weeks and we thought we'd never get it back again. That was a very stressful time. We’ve advertised the house now so it’s available for four weeks from today and it's not very long really. We've had viewings already, someone came around yesterday unexpectedly, the house was a tip and I think they were quite surprised it didn't like it did in the photos. So I’ve got a long list of things that he doing in the house from painting various bits and pieces and clearing it out - there's still other things that need clearing really. So we've got the car that needs selling, the house that needs doing up in places and clearing out, we need to pack and we've also got the kids holiday. I'd rather they're out there being active than just hanging around me not being able to do stuff with them. I'm fine, I’ve just got a millions of things I've got to. I don't feel like I'm really spend time the kids enough, but they quite like being at home don't you kids? Yeah! I've got lots of friends, I'd like to see them all before we go but at the moment I'm just finding that hard as well, to fit that in. We need to get away by September because the boat is in the yard until the 18th of September so we've got to get there a few weeks before to paint the bottom and do various job before we even launch it in the water, so it is quite kind of stressful - like even doing this at the moment. We last left you with a beautiful sunset snorkel off the sugar scoops of our catamaran. We're well rested and ready to take the next leg of our sail to Panama. Join our crew on Patreon and become a BIGGER part of the adventure: http://bit.ly/patreon-wynn Get all the Details of our trip here: http://gonewiththewynns.com/ Subscribe and Keep in touch: http://gonewiththewynns.com/join-us We made it across the stream and we tucked into Old Fort Bay near Nassau Bahamas for a quick night of rest...and to wait for the winds to build again. Thankfully we're up early and the winds are too. As we pull up the anchor we follow the winds south to Staniel Cay instead of east towards Nassau (as we originally planned), but when you're in a sailboat it's best to follow mother nature's lead. Unfortuneately we're hit with a little snafu in Staniel Cay and we have to rush off to George Town. It's all good though, we're just stoked to have wind and good weather for our trip. I hope this part two of our Mission Panamania series gets you excited for the next adventure...cause we're stoked! See ya on the water. - Jason, Nikki, Cleo and Singa Enjoy our vids?
