This is our 5th attempt to leave for our epic adventure to the Bahamas! After yesterdays let down we thought we would be stuck in Coos Bay, Oregon for at least another week! We woke up early today to check the weather and found that we COULD make it through the canyon before the next snow fall, if we left right away! About an hour into the trip, while driving down a straight, but bumpy section of road, (in Coquille, Oregon) we LOST THE TRAILER OFF THE HITCH!! After getting the trailer hooked back up we made it through the canyon with only 1 small mishap with the brakes....lets just say we didn't stop at a stop sign like we tried to and...had to make a 90 degree turn all at the same time! We were so lucky there weren't any cars around for us to hit! The brakes had locked up b/c of sand left on the road from yesterday's snow. We soon made it to our first mountain pass to get to California, but broke down before we could make it to the top of the first hill.... :( Going up the mountain we were only going about 15mph if even that! While driving up the mountain Kenzie started smelling a burnt smell and asked what it was. Randall replied with "It's the smell from the diesel trucks brakes, coming down the mountain" soon after Kenzie's bum and back started to feel REALLY HOT. She reached down and felt the seat and found that it was like someone had turned on the heated seat feature in a newer vehicle. Kenzie glanced at the back of the seat and could see SMOKE rising from behind from the floor! She was freaking out and started telling Randall to PULL OVER NOW!! We weren't in a spot on the road where we could pull over and were already driving in the "slow trucks lane". Randall decided to roll down the windows to let the smoke out and try to cool down Kenzie's seat. Kenzie saw smoke rising from the front of the seats by our legs and began to pile everything she could onto her lap. The computer case and our G-drive were behind the seat and had melted carpet stuck to the case. We finally couldn't take it anymore and pulled over on the "slow trucks lane" the best we could and got out to check to engine. We couldn't find anything wrong and decided to let the truck cool down for a bit...only to find that THE TRUCK NOW WON'T START BACK UP! Now we are stuck on the mountain...oh and did we mention, it's now getting dark too! Long story short, it took us 8 hours to get back down the mountain and to a place where we could sleep...COULD ANYTHING ELSE GO WRONG???? Prepare for an episode with lots of boat work! We’re back in the boatyard to do some work on RAN. We take her to Curacao Marine in Willemstad and after hauling out we spend a couple of days prepping and then painting new antifouling, changing the batteries and the anodes while melting away in the 35-40 C heat. We also prepare to leave RAN in storage for a few weeks as we’re taking off in an airplane! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. Seascape 27 "PURE" sailing with Genua. The Genua is a good allround sail for most wind conditions and directions, from close hauled to reach. Our boat is using 4 sheets for different wind directions.

There’s no end to summer here in Mexico, and we have some perfect sailing days along with the summer days. Sailing from Isla Coronado north to Punta Pulpito, we check out a sea cave, the blue footed boobies and do some awesome spear fishing. The splash did not go as planned we are not sailing. We have a leak which mean no sailing, a delaying our travel vlog launch. We will have to wait a little long till we will be living on a yacht. Before we can fix it we have to find it. This job seemed like a good one to call in the professionals. Hopefully it won't send us way off budget or schedule, but knowing how boat projects can be it could get pricey. This is what it is like living on a sailboat. The good news is it can be fixed. We should be on the water in no time. Then we can actually start living on the boat, which will make all the frustration of downsizing seem worth it. This is The Boat Life. We anchor the boat at Spanish Wells and take the dinghy to Papa Scoops to get icecream cones. Whew - Getting a late release on this one. Internet issues almost made us miss this Friday release, but we've pulled it off! Behold... Spanish Wells! Land of fishing boats, golf carts, Papa's Scoops, and bad anchorages. We spent exactly 1 day exploring Spanish Wells. It's a pretty chill place. Yeah, golf carts are the primary mode of transportation around the island. They're everywhere! How to install a windgenerator yourself. It is actually very basic and anyone can do this to provide him/herself with free energy for the coming years :) Here I am installing a 300 watt Windkenetic windgenerator on my sailing boat that can generate 25 amps an hour. My channel isn't that old, many of the bigger channels you can compare mine to started putting out videos a couple years before I began. I could always use your help sharing my videos, spreading the word, and connecting with cross promotional opportunities. Editing and travelling tend to take up all my time. - Where are you now? She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘blar bar mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. We arrived to Martinique and had to fix broken genoa halyard, as well as windless (anchor chain motor) and service main Volvo Penta engine. All went well and we rented a car and visited the island - St. Anne beach, where we witnessed world record and local unique boat launch; visited capital Fort de France; dramatic St. Pierre and Mountain Pele itself.
