► In Amsterdam, we met up with Stephen Weatherley, CEO and founder of Archipelago Yachts, and he presented the shipyard’s current direction and unveiled their current projects. His vision is based on an approach that places engineering, design, and propulsion systems at the forefront, applied to the demanding market sector of aluminum powercats. ► Based in Hampshire, on the south coast of England, Archipelago Yachts designs and builds motor catamarans from 40 to 80 feet in length, with construction on the Isle of Wight. This organization allows for strong continuity between design, engineering, and manufacturing, in an industrial environment with a long maritime tradition. ► From the outset, Weatherley was keen to emphasize the fundamental choice of aluminum: “We exclusively build aluminum catamarans. The entire range is designed around this material because it allows us to work on the structure, durability, and integration of systems right from the start.” ► He also champions the material for its structural qualities, longevity, and recyclability. The platforms are designed from a global perspective, with particular attention being paid to the architecture of the hulls, weight distribution, and systems’ installation. ►Propulsion is one of the shipyard’s major areas of development. Archipelago now offers several configurations to suit different uses. “We offer conventional diesel, diesel-electric hybrid, and we are about to launch a fully electric model,” Weatherley told us. Massive gusts forced some athletes to retire, while others embraced the challenge and delivered outstanding performances. iQFOiL Men completed three races. 🇮🇱 Peleg Rajuan (ISR) kept his cool under pressure, finishing the day with a race win and moving into the overall lead. 🇮🇹 Mattia Saoncella (ITA) followed closely after a strong performance that included a bullet of his own. 🇸🇮 Val Erzen (SLO) claimed the second win of the day and sits third overall. iQFOiL Women completed two races, and it was a day of Italian dominance. 🇮🇹 Medea Falcioni, the 2025 U19 World and European Champion, was unstoppable, taking two bullets to lead the fleet. 🇺🇦 Taisia Stopchenko posted two second-place finishes, while 🇹🇷 Nurhayat Guven holds a strong third overall. ⸻ ⛵ ILCA Fleets The ILCA sailors faced the same survival-style conditions. ILCA 6 Boys 🇮🇹 Alessandro Cirinei retains the overall lead through consistency. 🇧🇷 Francisco Dal Ri climbed into second overall with two third-place finishes. 🇨🇿 Jiri Tomes completes the top three. ILCA 6 Girls The leaderboard remains incredibly tight. 🇩🇪 Mirja Dolhe leads overall, with 🇪🇸 Irene de Tomas and 🇮🇹 Marina Murri tied for second — just two points back, setting up a high-stakes battle going forward. ⸻ 🌊 Multihulls & Skiffs Offshore winds created survival conditions for the Nacra 15 and 29er Female fleets, with many teams unable to finish. •⁠ ⁠Nacra 15: Only one race was completed, won by 🇫🇷 Marius Praud and Emilie Mansouri, extending their overall lead. •⁠ ⁠29er Female: One brutal race was sailed, claimed by 🇬🇧 Lila Edwards and Amelie Hiscocks. •⁠ ⁠420 Female: 🇫🇷 Emy Combet and Juliette Peyre dominated the fleet, winning both races of the day. ⸻ 🚩 Cancellations The extreme conditions sparked intense debate in the Formula Kite areas. Day 9 of our Atlantic crossing tested everyone on board. The wind couldn’t decide what it wanted to do, the swell stayed big and confused, and the boat rolled relentlessly from every direction. We improvised a headsail pole using the boom, dealt with broken jars and flying cabinets, bruises, cuts, and a galley that fought back all day. Simple tasks took hours, emotions ran high, and exhaustion crept in. Despite the chaos, Eva kept moving. Fully reefed, surfing waves, and holding steady as we adjusted course north in search of better conditions. Dingo’s ear continues to heal, the dogs remain endlessly adaptable, and somehow dinner still got made. This is the reality of life offshore when the ocean turns into a blender—no drama added, just day-to-day survival, problem solving, and trying to keep morale afloat. This video started with a simple idea from Carly — using what we already have around us in the woodland to create something genuinely useful. We won’t say what it is at the start, because half the fun was working it out as we went along… but by the end of the video we test it properly and the results honestly surprised us. As we settle into life in the forest, we’re trying to find small, natural ways to support ourselves — especially coming up to Christmas — using traditional materials, simple methods, and a lot of trial and error. This isn’t mass production, it isn’t perfect, and it certainly isn’t factory-made — but it is honest, natural, and something we’re proud to try. If you enjoy woodland living, simple self-reliance, traditional skills, and watching ideas turn into real-world experiments, you’ll probably enjoy this one.
