My stay in a little corner of Paradise had to come to an end. I had to sail from La Gomera to Tenerife Island to pick up a package and some friends. And to get from one island to the other you often are faced with the locally well known acceleration zones. And this one was up to its notorious reputation. “Never cross with a north wind!” Can you hear it? Pam Wall’s little energetic voice? She repeated this warning many times when we first saw, heard and met her at the Miami Boat Show back in February, 2015. I had no idea that amazing little enthusiastic woman would soon thereafter change my life, by encouraging me and Phillip to sail our boat to the Bahamas. But we did! This past December (Merry late Christmas!) And it was amazing. While crossing the Gulf Stream (that wicked current that rips up the east coast) was definitely one of our biggest obstacles in getting to the Bahamas, and we approached it with a healthy fear, we were thrilled to make it safely across when we checked into West End and realized we had just done it. All the work and prep and planning and we had done it. Sailed our boat to the Bahamas. Fun video for you all here from our crossing along with a blog post and photos to boot -- https://havewindwilltravel.com/2018/01/29/bv4-video-across-the-gulf-stream-to-west-end/ Enjoy!

There have only been 6 of our boats made in the world, so imagine the surprise when we wake up in the morning and find out that our sister ship has anchored right next to us! This channel is made possible by viewers like you. Please help us keep this channel creating great content by becoming a patron for as little as $1 an episode. Visit: https://www.patreon.com/mjsailing We get the chance to make our way over to Loiret, meet the owner, Phillipe, and tour what another version of our boat looked like. Even with the two being sisters, there were some major differences. With all of our tasks in Florida completed, it was time to get back to the Bahamas! We made a 135 mile sail from Palm Beach to Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands. The sail was comfortable and uneventful, and we tucked ourselves into a harbour just in time to wait out a strong northern coming through. With our first full day in Great Harbour Cay, we walked around town to see what it had to offer, but since it was the weekend it was like the entire town was taking a siesta. We did manage to grab a few cold Kaliks at the liquor store, and happily wandered the streets to take in the town. Cheers from the Bahamas! Thank you SO MUCH to our Patrons. Fellow boaters - I'm thrilled to share my latest project with you: MaintenanceROS! Seamlessly manage your boat's upkeep – let's embark on this journey together! ***** After a rough passage from Fiji, we were looking forward to exploring a new country. We only ended up staying for 5 days, but Port Resolution in Vanuatu definitely didn't disappoint. The big reason for visiting was the chance to hike Mt. Yasur. Oh, and did I mention that it is an ACTIVE volcano?! Standing along the rim, listening to the eruptions and watching molten hot lava and ash spewing out in front us, did cause me to rethink a few of my life priorities. In addition to the volcano, we also managed to find a couple unique Vanuatu cultural experiences. The first was thank to a local woman by the name of Mawi who was starting a business that demonstrated to cruisers the traditional way of making laplap, a dietary staple. The second was a real kava ceremony, complete with the more powerful Vanuatu kava. And these villagers don't take the easy way out and pound it to prepare it. No, no... They chewed it for us. The resulting drink was much stronger than what I'd tasted before and I was glad that there were a few other friends to experience it with me. Thanks for watching! Hi Folks - hope you saw Ep. 1 of this series. In this video Catamaran Impi has arrived in Pittwater Australia and is destined for Tasmania. Here we share some more unexpected challenges we face as we rush to be early enough in the sailing season for Tasmania and crossing the Bass Strait. Circumstances turn Impi around and see us flying back to South Africa for 7 days - so we share some of the footage spent with family and friends back home in South Africa, before continuing south. Many people are asking us to share some technical aspects around our sailing life and I share one or two things here, however, I aim to share some of the things we do around weather and other passage planning principals in Ep.3 to follow. We realise people do not have the same taste in music, we felt the pain by some in our previous video and the pre delight by others, so we decided to open each video in this series with the same scene, a different style and different music - we are trying to do something for everyone but obviously not always possible. We hope you enjoy this one - we love folks to engage with us if they enjoy the life we share so please if you feel a positive resonance with us, do subscribe. #VanMorrison #IntoTheMystic #Dolphins #RoaringForties Our Social Media links can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/cat.impi Website: http://www.catamaranimpi.com https://www.instagram.com/cat_impi For those who wish to help support our animal welfare program - please see this link: www.gofundme.com/help-us-to-help-animals Down Under Rally is a sailors rally group who apart from offering sailors great opportunities in causing the waters of Australia, New Caledonia and beyond, also sponsor our animal welfare program in New Caledonia. Buon vento a tutti. solo sailing across the Tirrenian Sea.

Like this video? Please click the thumbs up icon and leave a comment! In this video, we take a 'baby step' and briefly sail our first salt water! The ocean air smells so unique....we didn't go out of sight of land but we 'dipped our toe' in the the unique energy of the ocean's water. Both the Captain, the First Mate, and Yab-Yum's rigging arent ready for more than that today. But we are headed back out for more exposure to the ocean's unique feel in upcoming episodes...This was a big step for us and we are excited about taking things in 'small steps' to meet our goals effectively and safely. Figured while we had the engine torn down in our inboard outboard boat, it was the best time to replace the bilge pump on this sterndrive Bayliner. The bilge pump started smoking when we were washing the boat out and filled the bilge with water. It was a scramble to get it unplugged so it would not damage any wiring more than it was. This is a dirty job, but a must to keep water out of the boat when it is in the ocean. If you want to see the new bilge pump in action stay tuned for the next video. We will install and run a larger bilge pump because we really don't want to sink. Follow along as we breath new life into this 2004 Bayliner Bowrider. This was the most amazing sail - or should I say motoring, - from Cartagena to Melilla, the Spanish enclave in Morocco. I had dolphins visiting me twice on the way over and I enjoyed a breath taking sunset before the moon rised from the ocean with all it's glory. I also lost a tooth filling on the way over and needed to see the dentist once I got to Melilla... San Jose is absolutely one off the most beautifull towns I've seen. Very small but with so much to see. Mountains, diving, sea. I love it! I was very looking forward to have a shower after 20 rough hours at sea but the warm water was not working. Shit all over the toilets and no working wifi to upload my movies. So the harbor was a bit disappointing but the beautiful city made up for it :) And it is very nice to anchor in front so no worries there. Defenately worth a top with the boat.

Following Simon Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/finding_simon/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/findingsimon Website: http://simonstiles.com/ Asking Simon - Who are you? I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

After a drunken late night visitor, we head out sailing and find an abandon village. We hang out there for the weekend and play with the locals https://www.sailingnandji.com In this episode of Sailing Nandji, after a week of having land living with Yosh's parents, we head back through the Diamond Narrows to Noro to prepare for our next adventure. Whilst at anchor we have an uninvited drunken guest in the middle of the night to Nandji... We tie up to a barge to get fuel, then head out sailing. With a nice breeze on our back, we sail a quick 30nm to a beautiful anchorage. Only to be awaken in the middle of the night with some terrible weather, we rise early and move on down the coast as it is too rough to cross the passage to Isabel island, our wanted destination. We hide away in a protected cove and discover an abandon village. We tie up to the old wharf outside the village and spend a weekend hanging with the local people. We check out what village life would be like and have a look at the huts and the way of life for many Solomon Islander's. We trade for fruit and veg, home made fishing lures and songs! We also get busy whilst moored up and fix a few things on Nandji. Patrons! Be sure to head over to the treasure chest for this weeks feature video. Packed with the all the extra bits from this episode. Some raw sailing footage, fixing a few things and Bonita does a whoopsy! http://www.patreon.com/Nandji We are a young couple with a dog, who with no sailing experience, bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing around the Pacific! 5000nm down and many more to go!
