It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

Well this is unexpected. The first big storm to make landfall has Honu dead in it's sights. This is predicted to be the largest storm ever to make landfall this far north. This is part of the reason why we brought Honu north in the first place. The good news is that we are already hauled out on dry land and had the boat hurricane prepped for just this eventuality, even though we thought at the time that we were just being paranoid. If there is one thing the steady north winds in the Bahamas are good for, it’s flying the chute, headed south to Little Harbour! Ahoy followers! In Bahamas vlog time, we are just wrapping our stay at beautiful Hope Town, Bahamas (where we got lucky enough to snag a ball inside the harbor our first night there!) and sail this badass boat south to Little Harbour. Under spinnaker! I mention in this video another video we put out last year showing exactly how we rig and hoist the spinnaker on our boat for any of you just launching yours (don’t worry, it took us years before we were brave enough). Little Harbour turned out to be a fascinating little hurricane hole at the south end of the Bahamas. Pete is the son of Randolph Johnston, an American teacher and bronze sculptor who first settled with his family in Little Harbour in the 1950’s. Some fascinating history there. Join us for some bad weather in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Not much fun punching into 35+ knots for the 4 inexperienced sailors onboard. We then say goodbye to our guests and sit down to have a chat to you about the most recent series of unfortunate events and how everything led up to us running aground and an accident onboard. As cruisers, most people we meet suggest to us that we move rather quickly around the world. We never really spend too long in one place before we either start getting itchy feet or as in this case are forced to keep moving to meet people in a certain location. This is a good lesson for others who've just set off or plan to. Try and avoid meeting people in places, when you can, make them come to you. It'll be one heck of a sweeter ride. I decided to throw in a project video for all my subscribers that prefer these over the adventure videos, We will continue my Åland series next week but first.... I made one of the videos a while back showing how to (incorrectly) service a bronze winch... and boy did I get roasted in the comments. Most everyone was nice and a number of viewers explained to me what I got wrong and acknowledged what I got right. Not wanting to spread misinformation I took the video down and finally got around to making a replacement video. On this video I show you how I disassemble the bronze winch on my 1965 Alberg 30. This model of winch is entirely bronze and single speed so it doesn't get much easier. There are no bearings on my winches just bronze on bronze action (that sounds like the title of a porno). I cleaned all the parts with diesel fuel and used "Harken Pawl Oil" on the Pawls and used "Harken Winch Grease" lightly on the shaft. Thanks to my viewers who were kind to me on the last video and explained how I should be doing it. We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it.

A family of fishermen are stranded with no working engine on a pontoon boat. After I demonstrate a heave-to, I float near them to see if they want my assistance. I tow them safely to a dock, but to get them to their final destination, I flag down another motor boat and ask if they will tow the family under the low bridge.
