In this video I show you how we veganized a classic family favorite of mine. My Oma makes this potato salad with real bacon, beef broth and Salad Supreme seasoning (which has cheese). s/v Cloudy Bay (Hallberg-Rassy 54) sailing adventure continues with the next stage of sailing Massachusetts. After sailing Gloucester and Cape Cod canal, in this video we are sailing Martha's Vineyard. Which consists of two sailing trips: First trip - sailing from Onset and arriving in Edgartown - where we took a mooring buoy. The weather was a bit dull and we only had a short visit in town. Nevertheless, we were very impressed with our finding. Good wind made us decide to make a move in search of brighter weather, so sailing Nantucket we went! After few days in Nantucket (see next video), we sailed back to Martha's Vineyard. Hence the second sailing trip - sailing Nantucket to Martha's Vineyard. During our second stop, we anchored in Vineyard Haven Harbor, by Tisbury village. From there we had two days biking Martha's Vineyard. Along east coast, from Oak Bluffs to Edgartown, and next day towards east, all the way to Menemsha fishing village. This sailing video contains both sailing trips, and all our travel adventures ashore. It turns out you don't need a lot of money to be able to enjoy St. Barth's. You just need a scooter to take full advantage of all its beaches. Having spent much of our time centered in Gustavia, we wanted to see what else the tropical paradise of St. Barthelemy had to offer. And prior to this, when we asked other travelers what there was to see and do on the island, their answer was always 'So and so beach'...and of course the airport. Heading out in the morning we had a list of beaches to tackle, although really the main goal was just to drive and stop when something looked good. And it turns out...a lot of the beaches looked pretty good! First was Anse de Colombier, which was a great hike leading to a beach and anchorage that left us drooling...and then back on the bike to Anse de Lorient which was fairly empty and had a laid back vibe. Anse Marechal was the next stop for us...a popular beach with the kiteboarders. From the air, it was a spectacular view. Our fourth beach for the day we knew we needed to make a visit to. Anse de Grande Saline, or the nude beach. In French islands, all the beaches are topless, but usually they have one or two nude beaches also. And well....we kind of wanted the chance to go skinny dipping without getting a fine. The water here was amazing and we could have stayed all day. There was a late lunch at JoJo's Burger Shack before watching the planes come in to land at the airport...the 3rd most dangerous in the world. We took a break from the motor compartment stuff to work on our galley refit. This video outlines all the prep work we've been doing prior to installing our solid surface counter tops and new galley sink and faucet. The goal is to have a functional and clean-looking galley that is up to date with modern fixtures and appliances, but nothing to complicated. Simpler is always better so we're only going to have a fridge/freezer, microwave, sink, and gimbaled induction cooktop. We feel we can cook just about anything with those things, and use zero fossil fuels while doing so.
