It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

I disconnect the saildrive from the engine, move the engine forward, then remove the saildrive assembly from the boat. I then split the saildrive leg from the transmission and replace the diaphragm seal along with some associated gaskets and o-rings. While I'm at it I replace the prop shaft seals and lower bearing housing o-rings on our Volvo Penta saildrive. Thunderstorm Laundry, Strolling New Plymouth, SWIMMING NAKED, and Anchoring at NIGHT in a LIGHTNING STORM!! It's a full episode this week as we learn when NOT to hang out our laundry to dry - right before a thunderstorm with 30 knot winds! ;-) Not much was lost so we made our way in to explore New Plymouth on Green Turtle Cay in the Abacos, Bahamas. This was the start of our journey back toward the US, so we did some provisioning and started making our way. It was tough keeping cool, so we did some dipping the only way cruisers can - skinny. Why get a swimsuit wet if you can just swim naked? Lol. Eventually we were pointed toward Great Sale Cay...in the dark...surrounded by thunderstorms and lightning...very, very frightening...mama mia!! Enjoy!! We get a quick day or two in Tonga after clearing in with our guests Louis and Mercedes. It’s a action packed few days with windsurfing, snorkelling, cave exploring and exploring the natural beauty of Vava’u. We are then left on our own as they continue their travels around the world: Next stop, New Zealand. Over the next few days, with the weather forecast showing strong winds and miserable weather, we decide to hang around the main town of Neiafu for the Blue Water Sailing Festival. We are invited to sail on ‘Desiderata’, a 66' classic ketch, in the festival’s fun race. We had an absolute ball, apologies for abundance of footage!! It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience and we are so glad to be able to share it with you all. See the Rolex film of the 50th anniversary edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race. A record 130 yachts competed, including the 35-metre (115-feet) Nikita, the largest boat to have participated to date. Cannon fire from Valletta’s Saluting Battery announced the start of the 606-nm offshore race from Malta’s Grand Harbour, taking in the Strait of Messina, Stromboli’s active volcano and the islands of Favignana, Pantelleria and Lampedusa. Organized by the Royal Malta Yacht Club with the support of Rolex, the Rolex Middle Sea Race marked a festive finale to the Mediterranean yachting season.
