In this episode I practice with the new transmission and the old propellor! However, i really don't like revving up the engine like what is shown. Am I being too delicate? The engine is 35 years old....and only 34 hp. I know diesel engines like to run high....carbon buildup is produced when they don't go all out. However, I just feel like the engine revving is too much. In fact, the engine temp did rise with the intense maneuvering at short bursts of rpm. Is that normal? I guess I need to take the prop off and adjust the pitch. What do you think? Please watch and comment! Here's the story of how I survived a Bull Shark attack while spearfishing in the Bahamas. I made some stupid mistakes that contributed to the shark attack. I was alone, and I didn't have the dinghy close by. FOLLOW THES RULES WHILE SPEARFISHING: 1) ALWAYS spear with a buddy. 2) ALWAYS keep the dinghy / boat very close by. 3) ALWAYS move on after spearing a fish. 4) NEVER spear after spotting a shark nearby. *** For a different perspective on this SHARK ATTACK, check out this video from our friends at Wind Over Water: https://youtu.be/ZQfFjiI96FE

Warning - none sailing episode! Welcome to Ghana, in this one I do some exploring in the jungle, explore a slavery castle and get to go on a ride out with the boys at Harley Davidson in Accra…. and what a ride it was! Ended up with some great food and drag racing at the end but that’s what happens when you give the boys some toys :) In the next episode we get back to the sailing topic, talking about our preparations to pick the boat up and the exams we have undertaken. On the weekend we are heading down to Copenhagen and then to Germany next week. Things are super exciting for us right now, looking forward to sharing that with you. Let me know in the comments if you want me to do these travel videos or not, any input from you guys helps! Cheers

When did the progressives decide the citizenry was the enemy? Adding some comments: I received some interesting feedback off of youtube that was mostly amusing enough to paste over here. Most of it has nothing to do with the actual video, but is fun: response: "I think the problem here is that there are actually gun nuts and white supremacists and the South Will Rise Again prepper/militia types who are actually racist and crazy...or at least heavily adjacent to it, so he's pretty disingenuous to just talk about himself as some stable veteran who knows how to use weapons and not place the existence of what is actually concerning people on the left. " Rebuttal: Most "militia types" are not racist, southern, do not want to recreate the CSA, and ARE NOT "adjacent to it". (I suspect anyone with a gun and a associative group that she dislikes is automatically racist and militia, since she uses these things in her comment as poorly defined trigger words) I cannot respond to the rest of her comment until she starts making some sense. quote: "Guns are a fundamental aspect of American individuality, but I agree that we as people need to work out the issues between the stigma and the responsibility." The stigma is manufactured. I'm not sure what else to say, here. the issues of stigma are largely the product of social engineering. The issues of responsibility are never- NEVER- accurately stated, framed, modeled, or understood by people who advocate for gun control. Quote: "one of his core arguments has no baseline in any kind of reality."I should have more and better weapons than the government agencies" "I don't care for gun control because I distrust the government, and I should be better armed."" That's not one argument. Okay, mea culpa, I should have MUCH more simply stated that when I referred to government agency police forces that I was, specifically, referring to government agency POLICE FORCES. In general terms, I should be better armed, or at LEAST have access to equivalent arms, as any domestic police agency. I was wrong to not spell that out in clearer, C A T spells cat, terms. second- Nope. MY concern with gun control is not primarily that I distrust government. That's a factor, yes, but not the basis of what I am talking about in the video. As it happens, gun control legislation is always racist, classist, and almost always (95% plus) intended as a "step towards" complete eradication of the second amendment. I HAVE second amendment rights in PART because governments are not trustworthy, yes. and that's a big part. But that is also not the "core argument" (and even if it was, it could easily argue that it does have a baseline in reality) Quote: "it's an icon of the enemy for the democrats" == pure hilarity. Time for someone to get out and maybe talk to the coastal people. Yet, it is. Guns have become psychological and magickal icons for many groups of people. You can laugh, and suggest that because you assume I'm not "coastal people" I'm a dumb hick. But I have spent a large part of my life in California, NoVa, Washington- to some extent I AM coastal people and I know and am related to quite a few others. I base a lot of what I say on...coastal people. To a large extent they drive the discourse. Quote: "Yeah, the sovereign citizen thing made me squint hard." didn't say sovereign citizen. Back in the 1880's C.C. Filson designed workwear geared towards the working man, hunter, and fishermen. Today they still produce the same style clothing made the same way they were 100+ years ago. As a blue collar worker in the heavy diesel field, I put my clothing to the test and Filson has met those demands. I do a quick review of my double tin pants, and tin cloth vest that I wear almost daily and why I choose to wear them vs. other brands.

We check out a few of the anchorages in the Sea of Cortez. We visit a lovely little place called Honeymoon Cove with its three cute beaches and then head over to Puerto Escondido just in time to shelter from a few days of bad weather which are hitting the area. A day out in Loreto is wonderful. It’s a truly gorgeous place with its abundant of colour and plenty of historical buildings. Then its back into the Sea and we head south again, making our way back to La Paz. This is the furtherest north that we will go in the Sea of Cortez! If you like tweaking sails, sailing drone shots, and MacGyver like mechanical repairs while bashing upwind this video is made for you!!! With our shakedown cruise complete it’s time for Delos and her crew to leave Grenada behind and begin our exploration of the Grenadines. The guys from Precision Sails in Canada join us for a day sail and we set off towards Carriacou. Delos gets her new mizzen hoisted and we spend a few hours tweaking the leach, halyard, and foot tensions until we get it just right and she is flying along, bashing to windward at good speed. Nearly to our destination the conditions become unfavorable for sailing and we crank up the “iron genny” to make our anchorage before sunset. After a few minutes of motoring steam starts spewing form the engine room and we’re forced to shut down the engine. A quick inspection reveals the engine has overheated due to a faulty raw water impeller. Brian springs into action using spare parts aboard to overhaul the pump as Delos bashes her way upwind, tacking towards Carriaou. We arrive just in the knick of time and find a very sweet anchorage in Carriacou. Ahoy, now that Fay is back aboard ZERO we untied the lines, hoisted our sails and crossed the northern tip of the Sea of Cortez to Puerto Penasco. We wanted to check out the lively place and pay a visit to Cabrales Boatyard over there. We heard good things about it and wanted to get a first hand impression. But Penasco is a little like Cabo San Lucas, the tourism industry is booming and therefor super busy and loud. Not exactly what we were looking for, so anchor up and go.. In the charts I found a bay with 1 feet depth. A huge bay. It looked very inviting for us and with a 20ft tide we slowly made our way into the bay. Sounding our own channel to an anchorage where we had sufficient depth even at low tide. BINGO! The next days we learned that the wind comes up at around 10 am and blows with perfect kitesurf and windsurf force until 4pm. YEAH! That's our spot. so our intended stopover for a few days only lasted for over 3 weeks with perfect wind every day.. The only person who lives there welcomed us heartly and told us that we were the first boat ever who anchored there.. This 44-meter displacement yacht draws on the core features of the Benetti Displacement Class across its entire history. Expert owners will be struck by a yacht that can be an integral part of their finest moments with unparalleled style, comfort and safety. The elegant design suggests the proportions and details of a large yacht and conveys a feeling of sturdiness and power. The discreet but tangible sense of refinement will strike a chord with owners who love to combine glamour with credible practicality. The seamless design of the huge glazed surfaces accentuates the length of the yacht and its brightly-lit interiors. The exterior styling, which stands out for its remarkable continuity of lines and surfaces, is the work of Giorgio M. Cassetta: “The Diamond 44M represents yet another step in the evolution of the Benetti Class Displacement range. The clean, smooth lines embrace the proportions of a big yacht. The high hull sides and extremely long reverse sheer line suggest leisure cruises in complete safety, while the sculpted masses of the superstructure define a refined and dynamic style. The distribution of the settings and layout is based on meticulous optimization of the available space. My team and I have researched each detail for three years to create a yacht that is both extremely luxurious and immediately practical. The beach club in the stern, located right above the sea surface, is the most obvious novelty on the yacht, offering an independent, highly flexible and visually striking space”. The interior design is based on roomy, welcoming settings, where the choice of light colour shades underscores the wealth of natural light. In the words of the designer, Achille Salvagni: “I want to sculpt space, giving it character, dignity and strength. I’m looking for curved lines that come together and flow. The interiors of this yacht are timeless, because they unite vintage concepts with contemporary ideas. True refinement is cosmopolitan, telling stories and recollecting memories. The settings should therefore be interpreted as a story”. Discover more: http://www.benettiyachts.it/benetti-unveils-the-shipyards-new-products-at-the-cannes-yachting-festival-2018/

The first model was the Benetti Classic, and over 160 yachts have been built since 1985. A complete category of four different models has been built on the success of this experience: Delfino 95, Mediterraneo 116, Fast 125 and Diamond 145. They have all been designed and developed by famous architects, including Righini, Zuretti, Cassetta and RWD, and by Benetti’s own team of in-house engineers, architects and designers, whose skills have ensured the perfect integration of every product. The Fast 125 model, which made its debut in 2015, is equipped with Azipull Carbon AZP C65, an innovative propulsion system developed by Rolls Royce exclusively for this model. With the Fast 125 model, the shipyard has entered the yet relatively-unexplored market for sporty yachts. These vessels are extremely versatile thanks to the D2P Displacement to Planing® hull form with wave piercer bow to combine a low speed displacement yacht with a planning mode yacht at higher speeds. Specially managed by Pierluigi Ausonio with the Azimut|Benetti R&D department this technology ensures low consumption at cruising speed and high performances at maximum speeds over 20 knots. Their dynamism is the perfect foil for the pure pleasure of life on board, without forgetting their construction quality and potential for customization, both features for which Benetti has a global reputation. B.NOW concept is composed of four different models of varying sizes, ranging from 50-metre, to 55, 63 and 68-metres. Benetti’s advanced construction technology ensures short delivery times. The BNow yachts, designed in collaboration with RWD, all feature a highly customizable layout and external lines defined by renovated geometries. The outdoor-indoor living area has been developed with a seamless continuity of internal and external spaces, in response to the market evolution that calls for new solutions to a request from a very specific kind of owner, a particular client who loves a contemporary atmosphere, without compromising on comfort and privacy. These megayachts from 45 to over 100 meters in length are made to measure for the most demanding owners. Benetti’s unparalleled expertise and experience in yacht styling and project planning resulted in the creation of 2 product families: Mega and Giga. Beside Benetti naval architects, the world’s best-known designers have contributed to individual Benetti Custom yachts, working both on the exterior lines and the interior design. Over 60 Custom yachts have been built since 1985. Mega. Steel and aluminium yachts from 45 to 80 meters, designed together with the owner, starting from a blank canvas. Giga. The yachts in the Giga collection are full-custom yachts over 80 meters in length. In 2018, Benetti delivered FB277, its first 107 meter, the largest yacht ever built in Italy by a private shipyard, and is currently at work on three more GIGA yachts more than 100 meters in length. The development of the construction programme for GIGA yachts has required the creation of a special team to work exclusively on these extremely complex projects. Benetti is the only private shipyard today in Italy, and one of very few globally, with the extraordinary technical, production, design and financial capabilities to build Giga yachts. The FB701 M/Y “Domani” is a 45 meters of steel and aluminium that reflect the Owner’s strong personality and determination, who had very clear ideas right from the start of the project. The strong character and determination of M/Y “Domani” is clear at first sight in the yacht’s styling, where curved elements alternate with far more angular lines. Nothing is left to chance, with even the tiniest detail researched and discussed with the Owner to achieve the maximum possible livability and functionality onboard, in addition to optimising the yacht’s interior and exterior spaces. The Studio Galeazzi, together with architect Paola Asaro, has designed the yacht’s interiors with the precise intention of creating a boat that reflects the Owner’s personality and showcases ‘Made in Italy’ excellence, by featuring world famous Italian brands including Cassina, Minotti, Flos, Collezione Privata De Lucchi, Rimadesio, Vittoria, Flexform, B&B and Maxalto, to name just a few. The innovative concept introduced on M/Y “Domani” is the use of loose furniture. The beds, for example, which are usually built-in on other boats, are customised on M/Y “Domani”, creating both the feeling of being “at home”, as well as providing more space for onboard storage. Turning to performance, M/Y “Domani” has a top speed of 15 knots and a range of 4,000 miles at 10.5 knots. It is fitted with Caterpillar CAT C32 ACERT engines rated 1,081 kW at 2,100 rpm and two 125 kW Kohler generators. Discover more: http://www.benettiyachts.it/my-domani/
