Passing between two major continents from the Atlantic to the Pacific ocean is an iconic experience. It's hard to believe the engineering feat that is the Panama canal is now over 100 years old and still in perfect working order, the amount of marine traffic passing through here is astounding. We used an agent to facilitate our experience here and I've got to say I'm so glad we did, it just made everything very relaxed and easy, these guys are pros and the benefit of having a canal advisor aboard is great also. Enjoy journeying with us through the canal! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! This video is about Sailing New Zealand, Trampoline and Haul Out, Ep 56, Off the Starboard Hull in the South Pacific in a Lagoon 400 S2 Catamaran. A Canadian Couple from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada left from Parksville July 21, 2016 to sail around the world in their Lagoon 400 S2 catamaran. See how they get along, who they meet and where they end up going. They have a 10 year estimated time line, but a very open agenda. On August 4th, 2018, we arrived in Swarrow, a nature reserve with 2 resident rangers in the Cook Islands. Then we went to the island country of Niue (our 2nd favourite place after Maupiti) with unlimited underwater visibility, pristine coral, baby humpback whales, caverns and chasms. Breathtaking! From there, we traveled to Neiafu (with dozens of protected anchorages), Pangai in the Haipai region and Nuku’alofa, all 3 regions in Tonga. Next was Minerva Reef for 20 hours before we embarked on the notorious passage to NZ. Since Nov 12 2018, we have been in Opua New Zealand and are loving the friendly people, the lovely Bay of Islands and the access to materials and shops to do some boat projects. Update: Laurie was ejected from the boat in late April 2019 after almost 3 glorious years of exploring and discovery. She is now back in BC with family and friends.

We took a three day, two night cruise on Halong Bay. If you want to see the activities of the first day/night, view the previous video. This is Day 2 & Day 3 on the cruise. It was well worth spending three days on the Bay. We were able to visit two magnificent caves (Hang Tien Ong and Sung Sot) with Sung Sot being the biggest in the region. It was massive. This week I leave Vancouver and head back to Family Circus in New Zealand. I learn the best way to pick her up is to just go for it and come in hot. It's almost time to set sail for New Cal and there's a lot to get done to get her ready to sail 6000 miles over the next year. First up, picking her up out of the water! Learn how to tie the Diamond Knot with two strands of rope in less than 3 minutes. The Diamond Knot creates a ball that can be used at the end of ropes as a handle or stopper, more recently the Diamond Knot has been used in the creation of soft shackles. The Diamond Knot is easy to tie and uses minimal rope once you have learnt how to do it. We use two different colours of rope to help you see how the knot is constructed. If you are going to use the diamond knot in your soft shackles you should tension the knot into the tightest ball possible. This will increase the overall strength of your soft shackle. The diamond knot can be tied with varying strands of ropes be sure to subscribe to our channel so you are notified of all the new content created by Bottom up Boats. Wir sind happy, dass alle Dinge am Schiff getan sind und die ORIZON kommt ins Wasser. Wir legen ab und gehen in der nahegelegenen Bucht vor Anker. Schön das Boot wieder auf dem Wasser zu spüren.
