It's almost 900 nautical miles from Panama to the Galapagos, there can be huge ocean currents (we had 4 knots with us at one stage then mostly 2 against us the rest of the way), you have to cross the infamous doldrums, there are frequent squalls of torrential rain, massive fish to be caught plus the momentous countdown from North to South as we cross the equator and are transformed by nautical folklore from pollywogs to proper shellbacks! We risk putting up our unicorn sail - the genneka who we have ripped 4 times to date. We also land a giant mahi, see whales, and are visited by the famous red footed boobie. All in all it's an action packed 6 day passage to arrive at the fabulous Galapagos islands. We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures! We would love to hear from you. Especially if you are interested in doing something crazy like we are! Maybe we can help answer some questions you have? Thanks and enjoy.

This November 2018 crazy storm on Lake Erie will be remembered. We experience some intense flooding with the storm surge and 50-60 knots wind. Who knew waves could get that big on a lake. And after the storm it's time for our sailboat to haul out. And it's not the nicest day as we wake up to a wet and cold day. We're hauling out in the snow. The end of the season came way too quickly and now we have to winterize the boat. If you like what you see don't forget to give us the thumbs up! #lakeEriestorm #haulout #wildlyintrepidsailing ***************************************** Help the videos stay alive by becoming a patron or donating. We are just sitting at the airport in Union Island to clear into the Grenadines when we see on Instagram a post of SV Delos with a treasure hunt. The few hints are enough for Nina to know where he should be. We change our plans and go to the island to look for the treasure... unfortunately unsuccessfully. But the frustration can't last long with such a beautiful island landscape like the Tobago Cays, can it? A few more relaxed days around the Cays and we forget the time a bit, we have to leave for Antigua soon... If you like this video, please give us a thumb up and leave a comment. To continue to learn more about sailing, we take an offshore sailing course with a few friends through Northern Breezes Sailing School in Bayfield, Wisconsin. We sailed on Lake Superior, took our ASA 103-104 course, and spent nearly a week staying on a sailboat. This crazy adventure started in early 2018 as we started researching how to learn to sail, buy a boat, outfit her, and take off for a life on the open seas! There has been a huge learning curve trying to make all of this happen and we want to share with you everything that we have learned and have some fun along the way. We are excited (and a little nervous!) to share this journey with you. I'm a Canadian photographer from Ottawa who got rid of everything to travel the world. I make vlogs sharing my ups and downs, and my adventures in vans, on motorbikes, and on sailboats. - Who is Champ? Champ is my handsome 14-year-old Labrador, who travelled almost everywhere with me for his whole life. He loves chin scratches, fetching sticks, and scarfing down cheeseburgers and pizza. - What camera equipment do you use? I use a Panasonic FZ2500, a DJI Mavic Pro, a Rode video micro with Deadcat, a Zihyun Crane 3 Axis Gimbal, as well as DIY tripods and lights. - What are your vehicles? I drove a 1992 Dodge Ram B350 camper van all over North America for about two years. Travelling by motorcycle made for some unique trips. I explored the Canadian Maritimes (and deserts and backroads all over the continent) on a 2002 Kawasaki KL250 Super Sherpa dual sport bike, and also rode my 1999 Yamaha V-Star XVS1100 cruiser with a Champion Escort sidecar across my home country twice. From land to water travels: I currently live and work on a 1979 Wharram Oro 47 catamaran. - What are your plans with the boat? I will fix it up, run it on nothing but green electric power, and sail off into the sunset. Stay tuned for the growing build and the adventures to come! - How do you find all these cool places we see in the videos? To gain access to my complete research and the world traveller’s map I curate during my explorations off the beaten path, you need to hit me up on Patreon. Here are a few websites I frequent: https://freecampsites.net/, https://www.campendium.com/, http://www.atlasobscura.com/, https://www.couchsurfing.com/ - How do you afford your lifestyle? I live and travel economical by using free camping and mooring, cooking my own meals, thoroughly researching products and how-to’s online, practicing a DIY approach, and being as efficient as possible with my resources. I've struggled financially for most of my life, and although I'm blessed with helpful friends and family as well as being able-bodied, white and male, I don't subscribe to the belief that you need someone footing your bills in order to pursue your passion. So, I learned that you DO need to sacrifice comfort, consistency, safety, and a traditional career but that it IS possible, worth it, and the only lifestyle that makes me happy. I make my income almost entirely by creating content for YouTube, but it's a tight budget. Ad revenue, business sponsors, affiliate links, Patreon, Paypal donations, and merchandise sales bring in about as much as a part-time job, and I'm able to make that work. When it isn't enough, I go back to regular work such as photography, videography or construction, but that takes the focus away from my own projects. - How does your dog fit into this lifestyle? It's really not as difficult as people seem to think. I spend most of the day with Champ anyways, since we enjoy similar things, like eating food and being outdoors. I let the constraint of bringing my dog with me help me make decisions about where I go and what I do, so I avoid places that ban dogs, and therefore spend more time in nature instead of in cities. - How do you make it work as a digital nomad? My electrical power set-up allows charging my camera and laptop to film and edit almost daily. For Internet access quick and reliable enough to upload my episodes a few at a time, I use coffee shops and libraries. I also use a data package on my phone (10GB), a WiFi antenna, and a WiFi booster.

Navigation Station build out part 2: Hello Friends, On this episode we are back onboard Triteia getting everything started on the big rewire and installation of the new Navigation Station. Last week we looked at certain aspects of building the custom panels and now its time to unwire the old switch panel, label everything and get all the wires out of the way. After the old chaos was dealt with we dry fit the panels and get everything fastened down. In the next episode we wire up the AC system from the shore power inlet to the switch, battery charger and 120v socket. Planning is one of the most important aspects of sailing around the world. We often spend days or weeks researching new countries and the Philippines was no exception. Most round-the-world cruisers pass through Indonesia. It's safe. There is lots of information from previous sailors. But that doesn't necessarily make it the best route. After reading all we could about the Philippines we made a map and plotted where all the recent pirate attacks happened. Turns out they are all in the southern Sulu Sea. The central Philippines hosts some of the most spectacular and safe cruising we have seen to date. Long sandy beaches. Sunny skies and funnelling winds excellent for Kitesurfing. Perhaps the point is boldness and Bravery combined with research and safety pays off in spades. We are so excited to share all the stories we have experienced here in the Philippines. It is hands down the best country we have visited to date. In this episode the Parlay Revival crew take on their longest and most dangerous passage to date, the infamous crossing from Aruba to Colombia. Here the winds and seas meet in an unpredictable manner, putting many sailors to the test. It is somewhat of a luck of the draw situation, slightly minimised by selecting the right time of year to do it, which we had going for us. This passage is rated in the top 5 worst sails you can do when circumnavigating along the milk run. Watch as we hit patches of absolutely zero wind, then get hit by squall after squall trying to get the last part of the passage done down to Cartagena, Colombia. SV Parlay is a hurricane damaged 2012 Lagoon 450 Catamaran bought in Tortola, BVI at the beginning of 2018. Colin and his friend spent 4 months getting her seaworthy, before setting sail across the Caribbean. Follow our journey as we continue to fix her and eventually circumnavigate the globe! #boatproblems #boatjobs We arrive in St Barts and for a walk in town. We finally discovered why our solar panels were not charging and fix the problem. More hurricane damage boats to look st in St Martin. We provision the boat as much as we can as in the BVIs it won’t be as easy and probably more expensive. Going to the Dutch side of St Martin give us a completely different perspective of the island. We set sail to the BVIs. Would you like to become our Patron and support us on this adventure? We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, fifteen months after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. But for these people it's a dream, or may not even be a dream. We will look around and when the opportunity to help comes we will put our hands and hearts in to it. Much love Carla and Simon

Brilliant sunshine, solid trade winds and Caribbean surf made for the perfect start for the 52nd edition of Antigua Sailing Week. The cocktail of heaven-sent conditions was very apt for English Harbour Rum Race Day. The six CSA racing classes were on the Windward Course enjoying some epic downwind legs straight off the front of the brochure! Ker 46 Lady Mariposa won today’s race in CSA 2. British Lombard 46 Pata Negra, skippered by Adrian Fisk was second, and Vittorio Biscarini’s Italian Mylius 15E25 Ars Una was third. “We are a mixture of professionals and corinthian sailors, but everyone has an important role to play – there are no passengers,” commented two-time Olympic Gold Medallist, Jesper Bank, skipper of Lady Mariposa. “We had excellent conditions today and close competition and the last downwind leg was a big part of our race win. When you are going at full speed in a high performance boat, it is a fantastic feeling for everyone on board.” Sir Peter Harrison’s Farr 115 Sojana, holder of the Lord Nelson Trophy, started their campaign with a win in CSA 1. Fully powered-up, the British supermaxi completed the 20-nautical mile course in under two hours. TP52 Zingara (Conviction) with Canadian Richard Reid at the helm, was second. Lithuanian Volvo 65 Ambersail, skippered by Simonas Steponavicius was third. In CSA 3, Ondeck Antigua’s Farr 65 Spirit of Juno, skippered by Arran Chapman won today’s race and celebrated loud and proud at the English Harbour Rum Race Day prize giving! Adrian Lee’s Irish Swan 60 Lee Overlay Partners II was just 20 seconds behind Spirit of Juno after over two hours of racing. Mark Jagger’s British Bordeaux 60 Theia of London, skippered by James Richman was third. In CSA 4, British Oyster 48 Scarlet Oyster won today’s hotly contested race by just 16 seconds on corrected time from Pamala Baldwin’s Antiguan J/122 Liquid. Diego Aguirre’s J/122 Team Inka from Peru, was third by just 18 seconds from the Canadian Reflex 38 Touch2Play Racing, skippered by Rob Butler. Part 19 of a series: Sailing Miami to Key West. After our most epic sail to date, we motor to 20 knots with our water ballast trailer sail boat. Adams Key in the Biscayne Bay is a beautiful location to anchor for the night. United States military fighter jets fly by. Perfectly still, glassy water presents itself in the early morning.

(Portugues abaixo) This is it! After all this work, we think (and hope) Latitude is ready enough for the deep blue ocean, so we finally break the umbilical cord to Sydney and sail North on our summer holidays. First stop Port Stephens. Along the way, we have our first surf off the boat, Mari pretty much pats some Dolphins... and the apprentice fisherman goes head to head with the Troublesome Tuna of Terrigal.... Bons Ventos!
