World Oceans Day takes place every 8th of June. It is a unique opportunity to celebrate the ocean, our connections and make a real difference. Together with an international team and the help of Biologist, Scientist, Olympic Sailors, Champion Bodyboarder, Adventurer, Model we want to transmit our passion for this cause and our belief that, step by step, we will make a real difference. The result is a short interview with captivating characters – Simon Nessman, founder and director of Cedar Coast but also Biologist – Mariasole, ocean conversationist – Alex Bellini, Italian explorer and adventurer – Francesca Clapcich, Italian sailor and world Champion – Andrea Fornaro, Olympic Sailor – Gotzon Mantuliz, Spanish natural adventurer – Joana Schenker, professional Bodyboard Athlete who became world champion – Dee Caffari, professional sailor that have sailed solo and nonstop around the world in both directions – Alena Blohm, international model and York Hovest, eco-activist and passionate photographer. All fascinated about the ocean and finding solutions. Every breath you take and every drop of water you drink comes from the sea. The ocean generates 50% of the oxygen we breathe, regulates the climate and is an essential source of food, energy and life. We produce nearly 300 million tons of plastic every year, half of which is single-use. We have developed a “disposable” lifestyle. Estimates are that around 50% of plastic is used just once and thrown away. Annually approximately 500 billion plastic bags are used worldwide. More than one million bags are used every minute. It is estimated that 8 million tons of plastic pollute the Ocean each year – that’s a truck full of plastic produced every minute. We cannot deny that something is changing. If we continue this way, by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish (in weight). But, today, help protect the ocean for the future. It’s. up to each one of us to help ensure that our ocean is healthy for future generations: - Change perspective: encourage individuals to think about what the ocean means to them - Learn: Discover how daily actions affect them and how we are all interconnected - Change our ways: Make small modifications to your everyday habits for a better blue planet - Celebrate: Participate in any activities that celebrate our ocean (beach cleaning, workshop….) Speak up for the planet! We have to protect the ocean as protecting oceans means protecting life. What about you? Happy World Ocean Day! The World Under Sails: In episode 13 we "conquer" the Strait of Gibraltar and sail out on the Atlantic for the first time. Join us through the "Strait of Gibraltar" to Cadiz and Seville, our last mainland stations before heading to new shores .... http://annamera.de Seit sechs Jahren leben wir unseren Traum von einer Weltreise unter Segeln. In this episode of Sailing A B Sea we are one of five lucky yachts chosen by Green Yachting to receive a Solar Green package which is a 12 volt hot water heater for boats. In exchange for the 12 volt hot water heater for boats we were asked to make a video about our complete installation process. If we'd had the right tools on board and discounting the time taken to have the electrical cables cut and connections fitted we estimate that the complete installation of the 12 volt hot water heater for boats would have taken approximately 4 hours. This week we share the general plans of sailing to Florida as well as show how we make GREAT coffee on board our boat. If you are new to our channel, my wife and I make videos every Friday about our lifestyle living aboard our classic sailboat with our two grandsquids. Years ago, we planned to sail our way around to Florida and weren't staying in any one location for more than six months. As we went through the process of helping out our grandchildren and going through that effort, we stayed in one place for stability and family reasons. We continued to work on the boat and prep for this move east, knowing that we would eventually make it. The time is getting close, and I share candidly what our plans are and how we are thinking about our modified cruising life with a 13 and five-year-old in our Sequel of life. I also share with you how I make coffee on board our boat (and frankly when I travel, or we are in the RV as well) This is a great way to make delicious coffee that is easy, cost-effective and uses little to no electricity (none of you have a gas stove). I use the following products, manual burr grinder, gooseneck tea kettle, and either a french press or pour over. I like to mix it up and a bit and do both. Don't forget to like and share this video Please check out our other videos as well and click on the playlist below for a couple we think you may enjoy. Join us on our journey as we continue to rebuild, refit and prepare our Formosa 51 Sailboat for our continued cruising journey. We have always loved the Formosa, bought one (on a bit of a whim) late in 2014, moved aboard this one right away and started to do our refit while living board. We are avid fans of Cruising Outpost and Good Ole Boat (Good Old Boat) magazines and love the ideas we get from them. The boat utilises a hard-chined, plywood construction and this design of boat is a proven, capable, ocean-going vessel. Boat building with plywood is a relatively easy and cost-effective way to produce a strong, monocoque-style boat hull. These videos aim to show the way in which I go about it. Thank you! Tony

Looking at these Suncast Panels to hide our air conditioner "AC" from the view of our pain in the butt HOA. If you like this one, get it here: https://amzn.to/2MwDlgj We had one before and either the wind or a neighbor got it! These are great to hide things from view, really easy to install, durable, and look great. During the install of this one, we beat the top of the fence with a hammer sinking it into our sandy soil and it did not break. I wish the stakes were longer for places with sandy soil and a chance for hurricanes, but it does what we need it to. Sometimes you want to charter with a smaller crew or just own a nice cozy sailboat for your family. This is where the Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 319 comes in. For a sailboat this size it is comfortable and sleeps 4+2 people. Add the shoal keel option for reduced draft and this yacht can go, where many larger ones can't. A welcome sight at the boat shows. P.S.: The cockpit is semi-straight and open to the back, so long enough to sleep in! We manage to finish our final fresh provisioning and grab a couple of special beers for the important parts of the passage. We actually leave sight of land and start the epic journey across the South Pacific from Cabo San Lucas to Hiva Oa in French Polynesia. As usual, we do a few boat jobs along the way, making the bimini cover more waterproof with a few stitches here and there with our Speedy Stitcher. Magnus does a quick review of our passage plans giving information on which way we intend to go. He makes a start on adapting the main sail cover into a stack pack. A huge thank you to those who help keep our boat afloat by supporting our creative process via Patreon. You can be part of the crew for less than the price of a coffee. https://www.patreon.com/CruisingKiwis Sailing into a nightmare - Abducted by Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge This one’s a bit different and, for several reasons, was difficult to produce. We meet people along our journey who inspire, motivate and educate us. We are planning to bring you some of those stories in future vlogs, but after a recent invitation to retell his story for Becky Aud -Jennison’s ‘Death Dialogues’ podcast series we thought we would kick off this section with our Captain himself? Rob’s family story is moving. Death has had a significant presence over his life since his teens. In 1978 his eldest brother Kerry was captured, tortured and executed by Pol Pot’s Khmer Rouge regime. Shortly after this he lost his second eldest brother, John, to suicide leaving his parents, Miles and Esther, and remaining family reeling. Rob’s resilience proves there is life after death. Thank you to Annie Goldson – Occasional Productions for supplementary from documentary “Brother Number One” To see the film trailer or watch the full movie go to www.brothernumberone.co.nz to get the DVD or to stream online. Bia hơi ("hơi" means gas, "bia" is from French bière, "beer"), is a type of draught beer popular in Vietnam. ... It is a very light (~3% alcohol) refreshing lager at a fraction of the cost of draft or bottled beer in the Western-style bars. In the early 1800s, the French brought beer to Vietnam; however, beer was expensive and for only a few. But that all changed in the late 1950s when the Hanoi Brewing Factory began producing a cheap, refreshing beer so EVERYONE could cool down with a cold glass after a hard day’s work. Bia Hơi is available throughout Vietnam and is found in small bars and on street corners. The beer is brewed daily, then matured for a short period and once ready, each bar gets a fresh batch delivered every day in steel barrels. Bia hơi is a simple beer and production is not monitored by any health agency which makes it a fraction of the cost of draft or bottled beer in the Western-style bars..It is typically priced between 3000vnd and 5000vnd which is equivalent to 16 US cents to 21 US cents per 12oz serving. Open throughout the day and late into the night is the ever-bustling beer corner in the Hanoi Old Quarter, where you can see hundreds of westerners and local people sitting on plastic stools bonding over cups of Bia Hoi. #china #chinalifestyle #chinalife #qingdao #hanoi #vietnam #BIAHOI #beer NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? We are Eileen and Brown Councill. Welcome to our channel and a glimpse into our life adventure! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and change (for all of us, right?), but we overcame the challenges and decided it was time to chase our dream, to sail around the world! Did I mention that we had very NO sailing experience? Before leaving Qingdao, China, our home of 4 years, we sold almost all of our earthly possessions and started our international search to find the right sailboat that we would call "home." After 5 months of unanticipated twists and turns, we found what we were looking for, a used Leopard 44' Catamaran located in St. Lucia. So, here begins our journey, filled with unmatched excitement and honestly, a bit of trepidation as well. We have much to learn as we travel the world on our floating home and we intend to document that journey and share it with you. We are so glad you have decided to join us, and we hope that you will find our story so compelling that it will inspire you to chase your dreams too! As a viewer, we consider you to be part of our family and look forward to getting to know you. Don't hesitate to comment on our videos and ask questions. We will do our best to answer every correspondence! All we ask is that you have patience with us as we work really hard to improve our camera/video techniques and ability to tell a story. Hopefully, you will be as BLOWN AWAY from watching, as we are in experiencing and producing our adventures! HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT US? If you wish to support our video efforts, all we ask is that you SUBSCRIBE, give a THUMBS UP, SHARE our videos with your friends, AND COMMENT! WOULD YOU LIKE TO GET TO KNOW US MORE DEEPLY? The tiny island of Culebra packs a big punch - From the incredibly clear and beautiful greeny-blue water full of sea life to the numerous chill bars with easy dinghy access, we couldn't have asked for more from our very first Puerto Rican experience. While there, we also paid a visit to the fabulous and highly recommended Zaco's Tacos, and to be sure they weren't just having a good day we dutifully returned two more times - solely for research purposes only - And we can say with confidence that it's as good as everyone claims 😜. This episode starts out with our fast, 300 mile sail from Guadeloupe, a beautiful passage made in record time. Then we dive and eat our way through Culebra - With the former turning out to be unexpectedly gorgeous. And finally, we make a surprising discovery that causes us to totally rethink our provisioning strategy for our upcoming cruise in the Bahamas. -~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Thanks to our Patrons!
