What a great day of flying above beautiful Lake Walchensee, the top sailing spot in southern Germany, where we usually love to fly our fast catamarans. Perfect thermal lift. Ideal high cloud base. Flying up to 3.300m.

A period of southerly winds is on tap, bringing with it the infamous Miami heat (and humidity). But that also means good sailing weather for heading north to the Chesapeake Bay. First, however, we need to work our way out of the Old Florida Channel, and with east-to-southeast winds that means a two mile long tacking drill dead up wind. Our first full day at sea turns out to be Saturday, June 1, which is the official start of the hurricane season and wouldn't you know there's an area of low pressure down in the Gulf of Mexico with a 30% chance of developing into a tropical cyclone. Nice. The only weather we need to contend with is a cold front coming off the east coast early the following week, which will bring brisk northeasterly winds, prompting me to exit the favorable Gulf Stream current. We planned to complete TWO big projects while in Mobile, AL: 1) upgrading our battery bank & 2) fabricating a solar arch with dinghy davits. After much deliberation, we decided to DIY the batteries and hire out the arch fabrication. The battery bank and electrical system upgrade was nothing to sneeze at. But Kirk took it on with his characteristic analytical approach, meticulously planning out the new wiring in a digital diagram first before making any cuts to our costly large-gauge battery cables. Unfortunately, the fabrication of our arch doesn’t go as smoothly. The metal fabricator told us he needed only a couple of weeks to complete the project and assured us of his prior experience building arches just like ours. As the days go by, we become less and less sure of either of his claims. Decisions about our electrical project and solar panels rest on the completion of the arch, and as each promised date of completion slides by on the calendar, our faith in the project dries up. After 72 days on the hard stand, Nandji is ready to float again!!!! Will everything work??? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, the final task of boatyard boatwork gets done as we sand back and re antifoul the hull of Nandji. This is a filthy and tiring job but lucky for us we have spent many hours previously preparing the hull and sanding back and fixing areas meaning this time around, the task was kind of easy! Then after a few little dramas before lifting time, we manage to get everything in order and be put back in the water. Will everything work? I HOPE SO!!!! Thank you to everyone who has watched our videos and contributed to our new engine. It is all because of you legends we have been able to install this brand new engine and re-power Nandji. With all this boat work being complete our vessel is becoming indestructible as we get her ready for our next big trip across the Indian Ocean. With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papuea New Guinea and Indonesia and finally arrived to the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the next big adventure. Currently on the hard stand, we are re-powering and completing a major refit! The work is now complete and Indonesia here we come! We departed Australia in July 2017 and have since explored some amazing countries, met some beautiful people and experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our life doing it! Ryan is still sore from hurting his ribs avoiding a collision with a drunk boater, but we made plans with friends to go on our first sail and overnight getaway anyways! We head down to the southern part of Malta to Ras Il-Fniek to a secluded bay! it was gorgeous and quiet with only a few other cruisers the first night! The next day we said goodbye to our friends, sailed up and down the coast to get the feel for the new boat and practice our sailing while potentially looking for a different anchorage for the night. We then decided to go back to our original anchorage as others we found to be too public which made it difficult to let Jackson run around and have some freedom (they don't really allow dogs on the beaches here) we ended up being the only boat the second night which was both amazing and a little scary all at the same time haha! We had an amazing time and enjoyed having our own little paradise...... Now we are back at the yacht club getting our solar panels installed and any last minute jobs we need, in a couple weeks we will be finished here at the yacht club and done with marinas for a while!! The day before launching, Elements is lifted up into the sling to give us a full afternoon of painting while we reach the spots previously covered by jackstands and straps. Come 9 am the next morning though, we're ready to go! Conditions, although rainy, stayed fair enough for us to get in the water and to our slip the next morning, but then it turned quite windy and we didn't get much done for the rest of the day. The next morning was beautiful though...so time to put on our sails! As an extra bonus, in the fall Precision Sails had taken measurements for us to get a brand new main, and when we returned from Asia it was at the marina waiting for us. Since we couldn't raise it while on the hard, this was our first opportunity to get it up and see what it looked like. Enough time on the hard, let's get this boat back in the water!! Die teilweise grobe Aufnahmequalität ist der mangelnden Tele - Fähigkeit der Kamera geschuldet, der Abstand zu den Akteuren war einfach zu gross!

Our plan was to hang out in Bequia, an island the makes up part of St Vincent and the Grenadines for a few weeks. But we got restless. Also, we have friends in St Martin that we really wanted to see. After looking at the weather and planning a passage we discovered that we could make it all the way up to St Martin’s within 48 hours. A two day non-stop passage passing 11 countries/islands. We cover the lead up to the passage, what it was like sailing north non-stop for a couple days and nights. In this episode we sail from Christiansø to Kristianopel and then onto Kalmar. Along the way we spot a robin that is in need of rest and he flies in and lands right on top of Tanja! Never seen that before! As usual things don’t go to plan and we end up in a very scary docking situation in 20+ knots winds in a very tight harbour. We try to share the lessons we learn’t so you maybe someone else can learn from our mistakes. From Chris: Sailing doom and gloom is back, really tempted to change the channelI name after watching myself. I think you can probably tell in the video we are pretty tired after a few early mornings and a couple of all nighters in some tough cold conditions so apologies that I might be just as “entertaining” as ever :) Hope you enjoy, thanks for watching
