We're really excited to bring you this week's episode where we start our journey through the Caledonian Canal, and get to do more traveling through the Scottish Highlands. We think our morning is going to begin by jumping right into the Lion's Den of Neptune's Staircase (an 8 lock staircase), but luckily there is a set of two just past Corpatch to get us familiar with the system. But..then we are thrown into the lion's den where I have quite a rough go of keeping our boat in place as we sit right in front of the flooding gate. But...we're soon rewarded with a beautiful sail through Loch Lochy and picturesque green hills completely surrounding us. We do a load of hand washing while underway and head toward Baie De Prony in Southern New Caledonia, where the coral meets the bush. This contrast of bush and red dirt after just being on white beaches with coral was such a spin out. It’s amazing the places you can explore on the boat. We hike through the bush to Twin Falls and have a fresh water frolic. It was a refreshing change from the salty swims we usually have. Enjoy! Nu skulle Balladen seglas från Umeå till sin nya adress i Göteborg. Vi gav oss iväg 30 augusti 2019 kl 13.00. Vi hade hård motvind hela vägen med rejäla vågor, sedan seglade vi dygnet runt för att hinna ner innan söndag kväll, 1 sept. Vi stannade i Barsta hamn 5 timmar samt 3 timmar i Söderhamn för att tanka. Resan tog totalt 51 timmar och vi gjorde 270nm. Voici le deuxième épisode d'une modeste présentation de nos 50 jours consécutifs passés à naviguer sur le Lac Champlain en 2019. Nous répétons le même scénario depuis plusieurs années, mais nous n'avions jamais pris le temps de documenter et surtout, de présenter notre expérience. Nous naviguons à 4 (2 adultes, 2 enfants en bas âge) sur un Hunter 30 Cherubini 1980 que nous avons remis à notre goût ces dernières années. Nous tenons habituellement de 8 à 9 jours avec notre réservoir d'eau et le réservoir d'eaux noires. Cette année, nous avons hissé les voiles chaque jour pour lesquels nous avons navigué. Nous avons parcouru une distance totale de 610 miles nautiques sur le fond et consommé 32 litres de diesel en 7 semaines. la plus grande distance parcourue sur le fond fut de 35,2 miles nautiques en près de 7 hrs 30. Il n'y a eu qu'une seule journée complète de pluie... notre vitesse de croisière se situe aux alentours de 5 noeuds. Nous espérons inspirer ceux qui doutent du plaisir que l'on peut avoir à naviguer sur le Lac Champlain avec une jeune famille et partager quelques'uns de nos mouillages et des quelques moments de bonheurs passés sur l'eau.
