Our family of six head into the Czech Republic and visit a few towns including Prague, Cesky Krumlov and Telc on our way towards Slovakia. We are a New Zealand family of six who are taking some time out of normal life to travel and live in confined spaces. We’ve pulled the kids from school and are home schooling while on the road and the water. We spend time aboard our 34ft sailing boat in NZ and have bought a camper in Europe so as to tour the other side of the world. We’re keeping our memories on video here and the kids write narration and play guitars so we have music to use in the videos.

Dollar weeds are at bay, but at what cost? We have the cost of TruGreen, plus now we have Sod that may have to be replaced and broken sprinkler heads. Not happy that TruGreen aerating our new sod even after we called and told them there was new sod. When the tech came out they didn't talk to me just my son who didn't know how to instruct them when here. 2:48 Fixing a sprinkler head. Link for sprinkler heads used. https://amzn.to/33yOYaf 5:43 How to adjust sprinkler head. 1:46 New sod damaged. 0:33 K -Rain Pro-S 4 we used. We have to fix our sprinkler system and choose to use the K-Rain Pro-S 4. 6 of these sprinkler heads only cost $19 and are pretty easy to adjust, and we do just that right after we install the new sprinkler heads. We sail to Manjack Cay and swim with giant myliobatoidei... also known as stingrays. I love the days when we can move the boat from point A to point B under sail power alone. It's a great accomplishment and it always feels good when we work as a team to get it done. Manjack Cay is a pretty cool place! It's uninhabited, but there is abundant wildlife there. Sharks, rays, sea turtles, fish, and loads more. Oddly, much of the wildlife is almost tame from the frequent and regular interactions with humans. Lastly we experience a surprise thunderstorm. Thankfully our Mantus anchor did not drag. We were worried since we didn't set the anchor with the engine when we sailed in - plus the bottom is pretty bad at the Northern anchorage of Manjack Cay. In preparation for spiling the planking on the Haven I build a pair of compass dividers. In boat building there's a method called spiling and it is the process of determining the shape of a plank that goes on your boat. In order to do this you need a good pair of compass dividers. Those old-school compass dividers we all had in grammar school just isn't gonna cut it. So, I made a pair that is accurate and will lock in place. In this episode of tool making I'll show you how I made pair of compass dividers worthy of passing down to your heirs! “If you’re going to make it, make it beautiful.” -Bob Emser- Plans for the Compass/Dividers https://www.patreon.com/posts/plans-for-pair-72080020?utm_medium=clipboard_copy&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=postshare_creator Subscribe for more Boat Building from The Art of Boat Building: https://www.youtube.com/user/bobemser/featured?sub_confirmation=1 Share this video with a friend: https://youtu.be/8IFeqx-GBaI How to support The Art of Boat Building. "Living The Dream!" with LTD sailing school. Testing, testing 103 - the crew takes their ASA 103 exam in the crystal blue waters off PSV. How distracting! Everyone gets their fix of cross bearing fixes then it's off to Petite Marintique to get water, Water is a valuable resource on a boat and it has to be monitored carefully. Practicing MOB's near Sandy Island on the cat then Tom & Shayla talk about their experience and the excitement of planning new adventures sailing. But wait there's more - Tim's BBQ and crab races! What?

Exceptionally well sorted member of the Oyster sisterhood which enjoyed a total nautical makeover in 2016 - including paint, decks, interior, electronics, rig, AV and so much more. However, the nub of this Oyster 72 is that she is quite simply ferociously quick, of carbon with a carbon rig and super light yet very strong fit out for express mile munching and would be great for some regattas along the way. We leave the tranquil anchorage in the Bay of Prony and make our way back to the island, Ile Ouen. We head ashore and check out the beautiful beach with its abundance of natural wonders and spot small schools of blue bone fish swimming in the shallow, coral filled waters. Magnus collects and husks a few coconuts, including a young embryo one which we both try for the first time. A little game of beach cricket, because we can, and we then head back to Nutshell to process the coconuts into desiccated coconut and coconut milk. It’s then a short sail back to Noumea to get ready to check out and head back to Australia, but not before we try a beer at the local restaurant. Thanks for watching and following along with our adventures. Upsi, my sailboat is sitting aground on a sandbank in a river. But no worries, I did this on purpose...to clean my hull. My sailboat has one speciality: TWIN KEELS. This enables me to dryfall with my boat in tidal water bodies to inspect my hull, to clean it and to do some repairs without having to spend a lot of money for a haul out. Once Karl's butt was nice and clean again, Maria and I took off on a coastal sail some 20nm down south to Jaramijo. On the way there, we traweld for micro plastic and found 13 plastic items, 8 of them being micro plastic, during a trawl of half an hour. We wanted to see how much trash we would find if we "trawled" on the beach in a straight line for the same amount of time. We only picked up what was in the reach of our arms and collected 248 items in half an hour. If you would like to help us fight plastic pollution, here are five easy way to reduce single use plastic in your daily life: 1. bring your own reusable shopping bags 2. use a reusable water bottle 3. say no to plastic straws 4. carry a reusable coffee mug 5. use reusable containers to store / transport food Thank you for being IN MOCEAN for clean oceans. While we take a break from the prop shaft assembly to let Joe finish milling the Delrin liner and the other components, we get back to some planking. As soon as the prop shaft assembly is installed in the stern post, we will be able to hopefully get moving on installing the rest of the planking. In order to get set up for this, we head out to the cedar rack we recently built and sort through the lumber to see what we really have to work with. As we mentioned in the previous video, cedar can have a significant amount of knots and although many of these are not an issue, they are still to be avoided. Therefore, we still need to determine how many boards we have with minimal knots. The other aspect of planking we need to tackle is lining off the hull. There are many ways to plank a wooden boat but it is generally accepted that it should also be done in a way that is aesthetically pleasing. In the manner we are doing it, we need to line off in order to figure out how to diminish each plank to fill the different amount of space at stern, midship and bow. If you are a bit lost, no worries, we were too until we got walked through the process, which we will be relaying in this video. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a boat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve and Alix started as amateur boat builders building their own 38' wooden boat in their backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. This ultimate DIY project will continue well past launch, when they will travel and learn to cruise aboard the boat that they've built. At 3 in the morning whilst at sea a vessel charges at us... Pirates? What do you do? https://www.sailingnandji.com/ In this episode of Sailing Nandji, we are faced with every sailors worst nightmare. We are under sail on passage miles off the coast when a vessel charges straight at us. We gybe, change course and the vessel does the same thing and continually charges straight at us... What do you do? Pirates? We have been sailing in Indonesian waters for the past 5 months and have now over the last 2 years sailed all the way through the Indonesian islands from East to West. We have not feared pirate attack, but should we have? At the end of the last episode https://youtu.be/ecqjs5fN-a0 whilst happily sailing at 4 knots a boat charges at us and puts us under their spot light. What do we do? Lets discuss this situation and we would love to hear what you would do if in the same situation... With no sailing experience, we bought a yacht, got it blue water cruising ready and set off sailing to the Pacific! We have since cruised through New Caledonia, Vanuatu, the Solomon islands, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia and then onto the boat yard in Malaysia to prepare for the years to come. With a new engine, we continued onto Thailand, then back down into Indonesia and specifically West Sumatra where we are living the island life and chasing the surf. With our Sailing plans changing, we are returning to Thailand in the coming months and then taking the northern route of the Indian Ocean to the Andaman islands and onto Sri Lanka before heading south to Chagos and across the Indian Ocean once cyclone season has finished and the trades begin again! The adventure is just beginning! We departed the east coast of Australia in July 2017 and have since sailed over 10000nm. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. We have experienced so many different and diverse cultures, dived pristine reefs, surfed solo in the middle of nowhere, spent weeks at sea, dealt with storms, big waves, strong winds and had the time of our lives doing it! The adventure is just beginning as we sail West with the trades around the World! Safe sailing. Boat: White Shadow is a Van De Stadt ‘Seal’ 36 (11 metres). She is hand made in steel, 2004, with a round bilge (hull) and a modified coach roof. This makes her a ‘one off’ and in my opinion the most beautiful Van De Stadt 36 ever built. The camera gear: Main camera is a Panasonic Hc- V770 with a Rode External mic. My old camera is now my number 2 is a Panasonic Hc-v700. Most shots are done with an external mic (Shenggu sg 108) with a sponge and dead kitten attached. Action stuff and small blogging is done with a Sony Hdr-as30v. Underwater video Gopro3plus. Editing: Final cut pro on a Macbook. Most of the material for each video is filmed over a period of several weeks or so and the editing of each episode is normally done over a day. This process can take longer if original music is used or permissions are needed for copyrighted materials etc. Much time is spent sorting out technical problems. In this case I normally get the help of a younger person who understands computerie stuff! There are also times when filming, editing and uploading is not possible due to being at sea or in locations with no internet access. Content: I have found that filming and releasing material over a period of time is better than doing ‘vlog’ style videos and trying to make episodes out of whats happened in a week, regardless if it’s good content or not. By filming over a period of time I can be more selective in what goes into each video. My aim is to avoid ‘bland and mundane’ and have at least one or two exciting and interesting events in every video. Every video has to be entertaining. Comments and being at sea: I love reading your comments. Most weeks Im able to read everyone. I cant reply to everybody but I do read and enjoy them. Keep them coming! There are times that It might seem I'm not on the internet for certain periods, this is normally when Im at sea on passage. While Im out on the Ocean I have completely no communications with the outside World.
