Welcome back to Sailing Seakat! This is Part 2 of our biggest trip yet – our adventure to the Solent and the long journey home. Before attempting our monster passage back, we spent a couple of incredible days in Cowes, Isle of Wight – easily our favourite place we’ve visited so far. From the marina atmosphere to the sailing culture, Cowes completely won us over. We also squeezed in a day out at the historic dockyard in Portsmouth, exploring ships and maritime history… all while it absolutely poured with rain. Not the weather we hoped for, but definitely memorable & Prim LOVED IT! Then came the big challenge: We planned a massive 28-hour straight sail home with no stops. But the sea had other plans… In this episode we push Seakat harder than ever before, riding tides, dodging traffic, and fighting fatigue as we attempt our longest passage yet. Eventually conditions change and we’re forced to make an unplanned stop in Dover. Join us for: ⛵ Our longest single-leg attempt ever 🌧 A soggy but fascinating Portsmouth history day 🏝 Chilled Cowes moments ⚓ The exact moment we realise we can’t continue 🌌 Night sailing & honest decision-making 🌅 Beautiful sailing mixed with real challenges If you enjoy real, unscripted cruising life as a family, hit LIKE, subscribe, and ring the bell so you don’t miss Part 3! #SailingSeakat #Sailing #SailingLifestyle #Solent #Cowes #Portsmouth #Dover #CruisingLife

DAY 3 — and the emotional weather might be stronger than the Gulf of Alaska. Today we sat down in the wheelhouse to give you a real update… and things got real real. Between Scott wiring up Autopilot 2.0 (and now 3.0), the new Simrad radar system, a wheelhouse full of black boxes and broken wires, and Audrey trying to figure out if Christmas in Prince William Sound is actually possible… let’s just say the “18 Day Challenge” is officially in plot-twist territory. Are we making it north? Is Plan A still Plan A? Did Plan B just become the favorite?? …And why do we accidentally keep talking when the camera is “off”? 😅 This video includes: • Raw honesty about the crossing • Real conversations about safety, timing, weather, and family • The hilarious tension of two people who REALLY want the same thing… but not in the same way • Updates on the new navigation system, radar, and autopilot • Big questions about winter storms, kids, Christmas, and timelines • A growing mountain of boat projects • And YOU GUYS voting in the comments on which plan makes sense This is boat life. Not curated. Not polished. Just two humans trying to pull off something big with an 80ft steel motor sailor, five kids, winter weather, and a deadline that’s coming fast. Stick around. Things are getting interesting. 📍 CHAPTERS 00:00 Welcome to Day 3 — Wheelhouse chaos 00:39 The beard, the boat, and the tension 01:20 Autopilot 2.0 & the new Simrad system 02:30 Radar upgrades + Dave’s Welding shoutout 03:40 Autopilot 3.0 arrives 04:15 Talking about crossing the Gulf in December 05:20 Audrey’s love for Prince William Sound 06:40 Did we tell EVERYONE the plan already? 07:30 Realizing the timeline might be impossible 09:00 Emotional updates + nervous system truths 10:30 What’s more important: the crossing or Christmas with kids? 12:20 Safety, weather windows, and the growing list 13:40 Is Plan B actually… better? 15:00 Forecasting, miracles, and the 18-day pressure 17:00 Plan A vs Plan B — which one even is which? 20:00 The emotional storm intensifies 22:00 Boat life vs boat stress 24:00 Why the heart wants certainty 26:00 Could the universe still open the window? 27:00 Supporting each other through the stress 28:30 Reading your comments + kid updates 29:40 Wrapping up — and what we still don’t know
In this episode of Sailing and Cruising the East Coast of the United States, Bela Musits and fellow sailor Mike Malekoff reflect on their successful voyage relocating Mike’s Hunter 44 Deck Salon from Brunswick, Georgia to Burlington, Vermont. What began as a plan in early April turned into a two-month adventure filled with challenges, discoveries, and memorable sailing experiences along the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and beyond. Bela and Mike share what it was like to manage long stretches of coastal cruising, the realities of anchoring and docking after long days on the water, and how sailing often becomes less of a vacation and more of an adventure filled with problem-solving. They discuss highlights of the trip, including navigating tricky currents, enjoying beautiful anchorages, and adapting to life aboard while moving steadily north. Listeners will hear firsthand what it’s like to bring a cruising sailboat up the East Coast, through a variety of weather conditions, and ultimately into Lake Champlain. From technical sailing details to the camaraderie of life onboard, this conversation captures both the challenges and the rewards of extended cruising. Whether you’re a seasoned cruiser, an aspiring liveaboard, or simply curious about coastal sailing, this episode offers insights into route planning, boat handling, and the unique satisfaction of arriving safely at your destination after a long passage. Join Bela and Mike as they recount their journey to Burlington, celebrate the milestones along the way, and share why sailing continues to be an adventure worth taking. During a recent drone aerial survey, it was a rare opportunity to capture beautiful vision of Michaelmas Cay and the stunning surrounding reef that Ocean Spirit visits each day. With special permission from the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority, the aerial survey work will form part of a comprehensive Site Stewardship Plan. Together with ongoing site-specific research, monitoring programs, and innovative initiatives like this aerial work, these efforts not only strengthen the resilience of our reef sites but also provide valuable insights to the Reef Authority for informed management strategies across the Marine Park. Join me aboard Mirage, our Amel 50, for a pure and immersive 440-mile passage from Le Marin, Martinique to Puerto Real, Puerto Rico. No music. Little narration. Just the sound of the waves, the wind, and the boat slicing through the Caribbean Sea. Day 1 delivered perfect sailing conditions - the best I’ve ever had on this route. With our Code 0 flying, Mirage surged forward at a 125° true wind angle and 23–24 knots of breeze, covering an incredible 200 nautical miles in the first 24 hours. The Code 0 proved once again to be a mighty sail. Day 2 brought calmer winds at 12–14 knots, a peaceful change of pace… But on Day 3, the wind returned and carried us straight into Puerto Real, right on schedule. I was joined by an old friend - recently retired and now discovering the joy of Caribbean sailing. He kept watch with me at night and shared every sunrise, sunset, and mile of this crossing. We end the passage with a well-deserved dinner in Puerto Real to celebrate a journey well sailed. What you’ll see in this video: - Fast offshore sailing with Code 0 - Stunning sunsets and sunrises - Quiet, meditative moments at sea - The natural rhythm of wind, waves, and boat - A relaxed arrival and dinner in Puerto Rico If you enjoy pure sailing , consider subscribing to Sailing Mirage for more ocean passages, island explorations, and life aboard.

Alright, listen up—because there’s a secret, legal loophole in maritime law that is letting people flip abandoned boats for massive profit—no auctions, no mechanics, just paperwork. Across the U.S., six-figure yachts and cruisers are changing hands for the price of a used jet ski. This isn't piracy; it's a legitimate, decades-old legal process. In this video, we expose the Boat Flipping Loophole and the mechanism making people rich: Possessory Liens: How paying a few thousand dollars in unpaid marina fees can grant you legal title. The Ghost Boat Crisis: Why the post-pandemic economic pressure has left marinas full of abandoned vessels. From Liability to Asset: The step-by-step process of filing for ownership and turning defaulted boats into clean-titled cash. This window won’t stay open forever. After 3.5 months of nonstop work, countless 8–14 hour days, busted knuckles, late nights, and fixing everything imaginable… We finally left the dock. This is the story of our first real crossing, from Fort Lauderdale to Bimini — a 16-hour overnight run that brought every emotion possible: excitement, fear, exhaustion, gratitude, and that surreal “we actually did it” moment. We had perfect weather, glass-flat seas… until our Genaker halyard snapped 60ft up the mast and nearly destroyed our deck. Somehow, it landed in the only spot that wouldn’t have killed one of us. After that? Pure magic. ✨ Bioluminescence. Aliens? Weather buoys? Crystal blue water in 150ft of depth. Our first breakfast at anchor. Nick’s monster mutton. Our first Goombay Punch in years. Hogfish double-up. A dream waterfront villa. Sunsets that didn’t feel real. This video is the beginning of the next chapter for us — living the life we’ve worked for, exploring the Bahamas with our dogs, spearfishing, cooking, adventuring, and trying to soak in every moment. If you’re new here, welcome to the crew. If you’ve been here, thanks for riding with us since day one. We’re exactly where we want to be — it is where we are. 🔥 Chapters (optional — boosts retention) 00:00 Leaving the dock (emotional) 01:10 Perfect weather window 02:20 Genaker disaster at sunset 05:00 Night crossing + bioluminescence 06:20 Land Ho! PAGORA With its design focused on open living spaces, Bali 4.8 brings together the most appreciated innovations of the Bali Catamarans brand.⛵️🌊 With its design focusing on open living spaces, Bali 4.8 brings together the most popular innovations of Bali Catamarans brand. It offers a unique open space among catamarans in its class with its fixed front platform that transforms the foredeck into a comfortable living space, the ‘garage door’ system that allows the saloon to be used both indoors and outdoors, the door that provides passage between the back and foredecks and the spacious upper deck plan. Bali 4.8 has a door that provides direct access from the saloon and galley to the foredeck. This door facilitates mobility and communication inside the boat, while providing safe passage to the foredeck, especially during sailing. It also makes it practical to provide service from the galley to the foredeck. This door and the large window next to it, together with the garage door at the rear of the boat, create an air corridor when opened and provide strong air circulation in the interior. Thus, Bali 4.8’s saloon maintains a spacious environment even in hot weather. #MostSailing #Pagora #Bali48 #LuxuryYachting #SailingTurkey #ExploreTheMediterranean
