Can you live on a sailboat if you’re not a sailor? Yes. And it doesn’t have to be expensive, old, or uncomfortable. In this video, we’re talking about the cheapest modern sailboats you can actually live on. Not performance boats. Not ocean-crossing yachts. Just modern, affordable, floating homes that happen to have sails. If you’ve ever thought about: • living on a sailboat full time • living on a boat instead of an apartment • van life or RV life, but on the water • how to live cheaply on a sailboat • whether you need to be a sailor to live on a boat …this video is for you. We focus on modern production sailboats built after 2000 with bright interiors, lots of space, and layouts that feel more like small apartments than traditional sailboats. These boats were built in large numbers, are widely available on the used market, and are often much cheaper than people expect. In this video we cover: • Why you don’t need to be a sailor to live on a sailboat • What makes a sailboat good for living aboard (and what doesn’t matter) • Cheap, modern “floating condo” sailboats from major builders • Why certain sailboats are affordable despite being very livable • How to start searching for the right liveaboard sailboat This is a practical, no-nonsense look at living on a sailboat as a lifestyle, not a sailing performance discussion. If your goal is freedom, lower costs, and a more interesting way to live, this is a great place to start. Need a consult? When you’re sailing alone, falling overboard isn’t really a situation you “solve”. You prevent it. Being clipped in. Wearing a life vest. And carrying a PLB so someone can find you if things go wrong. Mine never leaves me. It’s from Jotron and it’s one of those pieces of gear you hope you never need… but you definitely want to have. There are other options, but personally, I’m not convinced that’s a realistic option. Out here, the real safety system is simple: Stay attached to the boat. ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. We’re breaking down the 2026 Regal LX4—a platform that redefines cockpit geometry with its "Smart Space Shift" technology. ► We had the opportunity to preview the newest model in the Sport range in Tampa, Florida, together with Alain Raas, Global Brand Director. ► Within the Sport lineup, this new 45 sits above the 32 and the 36. As expected, the double-stepped hull and powerful engines promise excellent performance - close to 45 knots at top speed and 35 knots at cruising speed. At anchor, the emphasis is on modular living. The cockpit becomes impressively large thanks to fold-down bulwarks and a central sugarscoop, while the outdoor saloon can be transformed at will into an XXL sofa facing a screen that retracts into the transverse galley unit. Four bucket seats face the ultra-connected helm station, with full integration of Android and iOS systems. The builder has also fitted a cozy double cabin along with a fully equipped head. ► Full boat test coming soon in an upcoming issue of Multihulls World. ► Technical Specifications: Builder: Aquila Boats Length: 46’6” (14.17 m) Beam: 15’ (4.57 m) Beam with bulwarks open: 19’4” (5.88 m) Draft: 2’ (0.6 m) Air draft: 9’11” (3.02 m) Displacement: 21,970 lbs (9.96 t) Powertrain: 2 x 600 HP V12 Mercury Verado Max speed: 40 to 45 knots Fuel: 400 US gal (1,514 l) Water: 50 US gal (189 l) CE Certification: B10/C20/D29 ► Sign up for our newsletter and win a free two-month subscription to Multihulls World by clicking here: https://bit.ly/48JP1Vk ► Become a FREE SUBSCRIBER to Multihulls World's YouTube page now - https://www.youtube.com/c/MultihullsWorld ► Log on to our website to discover over 600 multihulls tests! Past Bab el-Mandeb, the wind finally arrived. After days of preparation in Djibouti — cleaning the boat, servicing the engines, and loading 900 liters of fuel in jerry cans — we set off toward one of the most notorious passages in the world: the Gulf of Aden. The moment we cleared the harbor, the conditions changed. Thirty knots of wind filled in on a beam reach and suddenly we were sailing fast, pushing northwest to stay clear of Somali waters before joining the Internationally Recommended Transit Corridor (IRTC) used by commercial ships crossing between the Red Sea and the Indian Ocean. With the Bab el-Mandeb finally behind us, we’re making miles under sail — but we’re still on high alert as we pass between the coasts of Yemen and Somalia. Cargo ships share the corridor, naval patrols monitor the region, and the Indian Ocean is beginning to build as we approach the end of the lane. The strait may be behind us… but this passage isn’t over yet. Pacific Seacraft 34 and 37: https://www.practical-sailor.com/sailboat-reviews/pacific-seacraft-34-and-37/ What makes a small sailboat truly seaworthy? In this video, we take a deep dive into the Pacific Seacraft Orion 27, a rugged, long-keel cutter that proves size isn’t everything when it comes to offshore capability. Built by Pacific Seacraft, this 27-foot sailboat has the DNA of much larger cruising boats, with heavy displacement, an encapsulated long keel, external chainplates, and a conservative rig designed for real sailing, not dockside fashion. Inspired by the famous cruising philosophy of Lynn and Larry Pardey, this video explores why “go small, go simple” still makes sense today, especially if you’re thinking about cruising, living aboard, or traveling on a serious small sailboat. We look at construction, performance, comfort underway, and why boats like the Orion 27 are often compared to classic offshore cruisers like the Baba 30, just in a more affordable and manageable size. If you’re considering a small cruising sailboat, wondering whether you really need more than 27 feet, or curious why some sailors deliberately choose older, heavier designs over modern production boats, this video breaks it all down from a Practical Sailor perspective. #tekne #teknesatis #tekneal #teknekeyfi #teknehayati #tekneturu #teknegezisi #teknetatili #tekneturu #tekneask #yat #yatsatis #motoryat #motoryachts #yacht #yachtlife #yachtlifestyle #yachtclub #yachtworld #yachtlover #deniz #denizhavasi #denizkeyfi #deniztutkusu #denizhayati #deniztatili #denizsever #denizaski #denizdeyasam #denizgezisi #luxury #luxurylife #luxuryyacht #luxurylifestyle #luxuryliving #luxurylifestyleblogger #luxurytravel #luxurydesign #luxuryboats #luxuryexperience #boat #boats #boating #boatlife #boatlover #boatday #boatlifestyle #boatshow #boatlife⚓ #boatinglife #seaside #sealife #oceanlife #oceanview #oceanlovers #oceanvibes #sailing #sailinglife #sailinglifestyle #sailingboat #holiday #summer #summervibes #summerlife #vacation #vacationmode #travel #travelgram #travelphotography #travellife #turkiye #turkey #akdeniz #ege #egekiyilari #bodrum #marmaris #antalya #fethiye #gocek #boatsales #boatsforsale #yachtforsale #yachtsales #yachtbroker #boatyard #boatmarket #boatdealer #boatshopping #boatforsale

We headed out by skiff from Port Protection to Point Baker on the north end of Prince of Wales Island in Southeast Alaska after hearing we might be able to find supplies for a foundation repair project. What started as a simple winter supply run turned into a full glimpse into life in one of Alaska’s remote off-grid communities. Fresh snow covered everything, Veronica guided us through the narrow “gut” channels, and we got to see cabins, backwater routes, mail pickup, local ingenuity, and the kind of problem-solving that defines everyday life out here. One of the things this trip really shows is how small remote communities in Alaska come together to support each other. In a single afternoon we were helped by one neighbor who gave us a ride through the gut channels, visited another couple who ended up giving us the timbers we needed, helped them remove a fallen tree from their sawmill shed, and then picked up mail for two different community members on our way back. What started as a simple errand to find a few posts for another neighbor turned into a chain of people helping people across two tiny communities. That’s just how life works out here. Along the way we visited friends, looked for timbers and posts, checked out storm damage, helped with hazard tree removal, explored town, and got another reminder that in remote Alaska, every errand can turn into an adventure. ‘Lost Horizon’ is a 2007 Archambault 32 Grand Surprise listed exclusively for sale with YOTI on Sydney Harbour. https://www.yoti.com.au/listing/archambault-32-grand-surprise-lost-horizon Hailing from the world-renowned French shipyard, Archambault yachts are optimised for IRC rules, delivering a proven track record in both offshore and inland regattas. The Grand Surprise 32 was conceived with a singular, dual-purpose mission: to be fast yet functional. ‘Lost Horizon’ embodies this philosophy perfectly. Offered in true turnkey condition, she invites her new owner to simply step on board and cast off. Her maintenance history is exemplary, featuring new standing rigging (2024), a Volvo Penta 13hp engine installed in 2018 (rebuilt December 2025), and fresh antifoul in December 2025. On deck, the open cockpit—complemented by a deck-mounted traveller and tiller steering—creates a seamless workspace for racing or an expansive lounging area for weekend escapes. Her powerful sail plan is tempered by easy handling, featuring a deep keel, single backstay and a retractable carbon bowsprit for effortless asymmetric downwind thrills. For the ultra-competitive sailor, an aluminium spinnaker pole is included to fly symmetrical kites. Below deck, the interior is simple yet functional. She provides comfortable accommodation for four, including a forward berth with a privacy screen and a chemical toilet under the fill-in. The salon features a galley area ready to be tailored for longer voyages. ‘Lost Horizon’ is the purest expression of sailing: fast, fun, and remarkably easy. In this video we go snorkeling in Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. The water is some of the clearest in all of North Carolina which is pretty rare. Join me for an underwater adventure as I go swimming in the crystal clear ocean waters off Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina. My goal is to explore a civil war era shipwreck, discovering its structure and the marine life that now call it home. The water conditions were perfect for snorkeling, revealing a horseshoe crab and other aquatic wonders. #ocean #freediving #shipwrecks #underwater #marinelife #snorkeling Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): https://uppbeat.io/t/vens-adams/easy-morning License code: FPQVCT94XK18RWJS

This morning I leave Wahine, my boat in Buren Bay on Amami Ōshima, for a few weeks. The next month will take me to an international aging and gerontology conference organized by the International Academic Forum @iaformedia, a birthday gathering with family visiting Japan during cherry blossom season, and a meeting with my literary agent following the London Book Fair to learn the fate of my next book. When I return, this channel will begin its next chapter — focusing more intentionally on the search for the secrets of living long and well in Japan. Today has been a really, really long day. I think traveling through time zones has finally messed with my brain. I never changed the time on the boat after Cape Verde because I thought it didn’t really matter. Turns out… it kind of does. By the time it was 7:30 this morning, I had already fixed my Genoa, reefed and unreefed the sails, changed sail setups, adjusted course a few times… it honestly felt like I had already lived an entire day. Then I checked the time and saw 07:30 and just thought: what on earth is happening here? The day actually started great. I was feeling productive and energized, like “yes, let’s go, what a day.” But then the squalls started coming through. One after another. Reef. Unreef. Change course. Rain. Sun. More rain. Everything felt like it was constantly shifting, and I think at some point it just became exhausting. By the time it was noon, I was completely done for the day. Mentally, physically… just done. The problem was that the day was nowhere close to being done. So from there it kind of went downhill. Not dramatically, just one of those slow fades where you realize you don’t really have the energy to bring yourself back up again. I did yoga, which was nice. Didn’t really change the mood though. Now I’ve been playing Taylor Swift songs on the ukulele, which is also nice. Still not quite there today. And I guess that just has to be okay. Some days out here are full of energy and momentum. Some days are just long. Today was one of the long ones. 🌊🎶 ⚓ Life on the Showgirl is my journey toward one of the toughest solo sailing races on the planet: the Golden Globe Race — sailed solo, non-stop, and without modern technology. In this sailing vlog, we take you behind the scenes of what it really takes to prepare a boat for an ocean passage across the Indian Ocean. Before departure, we explored local markets and some very unusual shopping spots while provisioning the boat. Along the way, we discovered fascinating and sometimes surprising local habits that made the experience even more memorable. Just when we thought we were ready to go, a last-minute decision to inspect the propeller revealed a serious problem — a thick rope tightly wrapped around it. Luckily we caught it before leaving the harbour. Once underway on our passage to the Maldives, the trip quickly turned challenging. Strange noises started coming from the steering mechanism and we began experiencing steering problems. To stay safe, we ended up hand-steering the rest of the journey across the ocean — a real test of endurance and teamwork at sea. After the long passage, arriving in the Maldives felt incredible. Our agent met us at the boat along with officials from the different authorities to complete the formal arrival procedures — a unique part of entering this beautiful island nation by yacht. Join us for the full story of preparation, unexpected problems, and the rewarding arrival after an unforgettable offshore passage.
