How relationships work living on a sailboat - Ep 159 Raising kids at sea is never easy. Now that our sailboat is filled with teens we have to balance family adventure with time spent with their friends. This week we are in Geraldton and as luck would have it so is Declan's girlfriend Chanelle, who just happens to be visiting her sailing family. These two have been snatching time together up and down the coast whenever possible, it's how they make their relationship work living on a sailboat. Unfortunately no sooner had the two love birds said hello it was time to say goodbye again, Chanelle had to return to Uni and we need to resume sailing up the Indian Ocean to Broome to meet with Kayaker Bonnie Hancock. Thankfully at last Ivan has returned to the catamaran, surely nothing more can go wrong now that we have our lucky mascot back on board. And that's when Rob found the chicken. It took six weeks for Rob and rowing partner, Phil Stubbs, to complete winning the inaugural Atlantic Rowing Race. Skip forward to 2014 and, married with three children, Rob and his wife Rachel purchased Javelot, a 43 ft Fountaine Pajot catamaran. Armed only with Rob's 3 years of racing P class yachts from the age of 11 to 13, and Rachel's non existent sailing knowledge, We set off to learn the ropes of ocean sailing. We broke stuff, replaced stuff and got to know their boat before heading offshore with the kids, Finn (then 13), Declan (then 11) and Ivan (then 8), in tow. Through trial and error we have become confident wayfarers, kind of. The plan? To sail around the world. Part of the journey will be retracing Rob’s eldest brother Kerry’s travels at sea. Using Kerry’s original letters from the 1970’s we hope to retrace his movements from Australia through Indonesia and South East Asia to Cambodia where Kerry’s life was cut short after straying into Cambodian waters in 1978. Kerry and two friends were attacked by a Khmer Rouge gun boat, captured, tortured and executed. www.brothernumberone.co.nz ***** Follow us in real time on Instagram and Facebook @thecruisingkiwis @finn_hamill @declan_hamill @ivanhamill #TheCruisingKiwis

Ülkemizin en güzel koylarından ikisini ziyaret ediyor ve pervaneyi an be an kontrol ediyoruz. Bir problem çıkmadığını görünce, içimiz çok rahat etti 😅 Şimdiden herkese iyi seyirler diliyoruz 👍 👩🏻‍✈️👨🏻‍✈️ Sosyal Medya📱 İnstagram: eleven11sailing Facebook: eleven11sailing Podcast: Eleven11 Sailing / Götür Beni Denizlere https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbGrnMRkzYdgdxLVKroa9vys https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHftguUvrkFSjNkjFL0hCJl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHXtj78EaasYMD6PLReS0Jm https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEb5TkeyXqg3Cot2v2w7KEB https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEDV7fLjDGvTcwzgYDyaCmn https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbFZOjbIvU50GNmUy_tgdL1c #denizdeyaşam #eğlence #eğitim #yelkenli #sailing #tekne #sailinglife #boatshow #sailinglife #yaztatili #göcekkoyları #denizifilmleri #yelkenlifilmleri #yelkenli #deniz #mavi #eleven #elevensailing #tekne #eleven11 #sailingeleven #koy #gocek #göcek #solo #solokaptan #hanseyacht #hansetekne #eleven11sailing #bilgi #amatördenizci #solohayat #tuzluhayat #tuzlusu #kadın #kadınkaptan #denizden #denizci #denizcilik #yelkenvideoları #teknedeyiz #turkuaz #açıkdeniz #kişiselblog #sailing #sailingkanalı #koylar #hanse #hanse455 #hanse460 #hanse458 #hanse510 #boat #yelkendünyası #yatdünyası #yatçılık #adb #adbehliyet #kmt #gezi #seyahat #geziyorum #türkiyekoyları #türkiyem #ülkemingüzellikleri #yelkenli_tekne #tatil #ege #akdeniz #tekgövde #monohull #adyk #amatördenizciyiz #flok #anayelken #fullarma #selftacking #otomatiktramola #tramola #kavança #alestayelken #tekbaşıma #tuzluhayat #deniztutkusu #hobi #yelkenhobisi #deniz #denizci #denizcilik #denizler #denizden #yelken #seyir #mavitur #seyirdefteri #sahilgüvenlik #sahilgüvenliği #asayish #denizpolisi #kontrol #emniyet #güvende #akdeniz #kontolaltında #hisarönü #marmaris #direkbükü #dirsek #şanzıman #19mayıs #bayram #kutlama #sancak #turkuaz

REVEAL! FULL DIY Bathroom Build (before & after!) ✨See how we transformed our tiny-home bathroom into a spa! Before, our bathroom was a plywood cubby-hole that housed random clutter and our composting toilet 🚽 It was largely neglected during our tiny home build and remained unfinished for many months. 💦And because our bathroom wasn't waterproof, we've been showering outdoors for the past year! We've been busy these past few weeks giving this overlooked (but very important space😅) a complete makeover! Transforming it from a plywood cubby-hole to a calm oasis! Our goal was to build a tiny home bathroom that was lavish & luxurious! Why? Because who said Tiny Home Living couldn't be luxurious?!!! We'll admit, living in our tiny home without a proper bathroom hasn't been so glam 😅' so we decided it was time to STEP IT UP! Now, showering in our tiny house feels like being at a spa! Our very own shower sanctuary in the woods. Would you bathe here?!🌿🚿🌲 If you liked this video and how it all turned out don't forget to give this episode a thumbs up & let us know in the comments! We love hearing from you! Watch the Full Tiny Home Bathroom Build, in-depth start to finish! Part 1 https://youtu.be/tE38Fax7DsU Part 2 https://youtu.be/O8uljtZxkLE Love our beautiful wooden shower grate? You'll want to watch how we made 15ft of gorgeous walnut countertops from a single slab of walnut! How we made countertops https://youtu.be/52MA8RGs9yk Curious how we built our bathroom walls? Watch these videos Building the walls https://youtu.be/kCPOYv-JRPw Scribing the walls https://youtu.be/YTTl9nnbr_0 Binge watch our Airstream build from the beginning! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWebYM5fbI&list=PLnZU0VokI3bdkYf_p-4rbnp6cIAafQXAC SUBSCRIBE! ► for a new video every single Wednesday https://www.youtube.com/c/allisonjames If you're into outdoor adventures, tiny homes (on wheels & with sails), off-grid living and DIY projects, then you'll want to click that notification bell so you don't miss an episode! WHO WE ARE We are a couple from opposite sides of the world making life together in a teeny-tiny 160 square feet. Our current tiny home is a vintage Airstream trailer nestled in the woods here in the Canadian Pacific Northwest! We like to call her Streamy, our adventure basecamp! Sounds dreamy right? Well let us tell you that it isn't as easy as it looks & the process of building our dream tiny home on wheels (in just 60 days) was a very difficult endeavor! Watch the FULL build from START to FINISH here: https://youtu.be/VljN0LDsHDA When we're not enduring these self-imposed suffer-fests (i.e. our DIY projects & long grueling hikes up mountainsides) you'll find us out on the ocean, living and sailing around the PNW on our little sailboat. She's a Catalina 30 and we've been enjoying the challenge of restoring her & teaching ourselves how to sail! OUR STORY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vt8aijVtK_E I (Allison, the Newfie) met James (the Aussie) while working on a remote island 3 years ago. A decade working in healthcare has helped us both to appreciate the preciousness of this one beautiful life we've been given. Viewing TIME as our most valuable gift, we've been feeling an urgency in our lives to Live All Out! We decided to make some BOLD moves, hit PAUSE on our conventional careers & work full time, turning our DREAMS into reality. This is the beginning of our YouTube journey & over the next few weeks we will be sharing our first steps towards making full-time adventure possible. We'll be posting weekly videos that document our DIY projects, tiny-home living & our land & sea adventures. Thanks for watching! Much love, A & J Connect with us! Hello to our subscribers and viewers. In this episode of Sailing Intermission, we clean our dinghy bottom full Brazilian style. Karen does the monthly maintenance of changing the 5-micron charcoal filter. After having several guests visit, we discovered that it would be best to have a new electric head. Steve changes out the Raritan electric converted head for a Jabsco push button head with a built-in water pump and macerator. It’s a little loud. We think it will solve the poop problem and make future guests happy. Subscribers, we can’t thank you enough for following us! ❤️🥰😘 You can also follow us on: www.instagram.com/sailingintermission https://linktr.ee/sailingintermission Musical attributes: Roy Edwin Williams - Sea Dance Elliot Holmes - Bounce Like That

The reason I did it this way is because dragging a trailer down washboard roads rattles everything and I want things to be as simple as possible, less connections = less maintenance and less to go wrong. But I also wasn’t sure if solar would always work because I’m from Washington and well its cloudy and rainy all the time… But I wanted to be totally disconnected from power so I left the shore power side undone and my experience has been good and long as I had sun and conserved when I didn’t the battery had plenty to offer. To be fair I have been south most of the time where its sunny and if I was just going to be in the northern states I would have multiple ways of charging. Having it hooked up this way at first has caused me to chase the sun and that’s not a bad thing right!

Sailing to Galapagos of the Indian Ocean - Ep 158 The Abrolhos Islands are often referred to as the Galapagos of the Indian ocean. Theses remote islands are one of our favourite places to visit. We only had three days to enjoy the clear blue water and the friendly sea lions of the southern Pelseart Group. Rob and Declan also stepped up their hunter gatherer skills , which wasn't too hard to do, with the impressive number of cray fish hiding under the plate corals. Pan fried in garlic butter nom nom.

Visit our store for the wood collections, posters, and stickers: https://www.acorntoarabella.com/merchandise As we prepare for the boat decking, which can also essentially be thought of as the boat deck flooring, there is a lot of preparation for the lumber involved. Everything in wooden boatbuilding starts here: milling, milling, milling. First, we do more with steam bending wood, specifically the locust which is the outermost of the boat decking material and is of locust to be protective in a place that will meet a lot of docks. Some people have questioned our use of pine for marine decking, however, pine is traditional in this application, rot resistant when properly finished (we plan to use many coats of oil), easy to find for repairs, and, since we have a lot of it, we can select clear stock for this application. We'll begin installing the boat decking very soon. Stay tuned and thanks for watching! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up for our email newsletter: http://eepurl.com/hn3Qyv Acorn to Arabella is a wooden sailboat building project taking place in Granby, Massachusetts. Steve started as an amateur boat builder building a 38' wooden boat in his backyard: designer William Atkin's Ingrid with a Stormy Petrel's gaff rig. These videos follow the journey from tree felling, to lumber milling, to lofting, to the lead keel pour and beyond—sharing details of the woodworking, carpentry, metal smithing, tool building, and tool maintenance that wooden boats command. 👩🏻‍✈️👨🏻‍✈️ Sosyal Medya📱 İnstagram: eleven11sailing Facebook: eleven11sailing Podcast: Eleven11 Sailing / Götür Beni Denizlere https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbGrnMRkzYdgdxLVKroa9vys https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHftguUvrkFSjNkjFL0hCJl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHXtj78EaasYMD6PLReS0Jm https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEb5TkeyXqg3Cot2v2w7KEB https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEDV7fLjDGvTcwzgYDyaCmn https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbFZOjbIvU50GNmUy_tgdL1c #denizdeyaşam #eğlence #eğitim #yelkenli #sailing #tekne #sailinglife #boatshow #sailinglife #yaztatili #göcekkoyları #denizifilmleri #yelkenlifilmleri #yelkenli #deniz #mavi #eleven #elevensailing #tekne #eleven11 #sailingeleven #koy #gocek #göcek #solo #solokaptan #hanseyacht #hansetekne #eleven11sailing #bilgi #amatördenizci #solohayat #tuzluhayat #tuzlusu #kadın #kadınkaptan #denizden #denizci #denizcilik #yelkenvideoları #teknedeyiz #turkuaz #açıkdeniz #kişiselblog #sailing #sailingkanalı #koylar #hanse #hanse455 #hanse460 #hanse458 #hanse510 #boat #yelkendünyası #yatdünyası #yatçılık #adb #adbehliyet #kmt #gezi #seyahat #geziyorum #türkiyekoyları #türkiyem #ülkemingüzellikleri #yelkenli_tekne #tatil #ege #akdeniz #tekgövde #monohull #adyk #amatördenizciyiz #flok #anayelken #fullarma #selftacking #otomatiktramola #tramola #kavança #alestayelken #tekbaşıma #tuzluhayat #deniztutkusu #hobi #yelkenhobisi #deniz #denizci #denizcilik #denizler #denizden #yelken #seyir #mavitur #seyirdefteri #bozukkale #lazyjack #sürpriz #macera #aksilik #kerteriz #loryma #iskele #restoran #talihsizlik #pervane #shukkle #olamaz #inanılmaz #traka #direk #yelkendireği #yüksek #negatif #talihsizlik

We're building an indoor/outdoor shower that makes tiny home living feel like being at a fancy spa!🌿✨💆🚿 Until recently our 'shower' was just an unorganized storage room. After doing some major decluttering and waterproofing the space, it's finally starting to transform into a functional wetbath! We couldn't be more stoked to see it all come together (and be able to shower indoors😄)!! You have to get creative when designing functional spaces in tiny homes (especially mobile ones) and we've seen some pretty snazzy tiny bathrooms out there! We decided to do something a little different then what we've seen.. Instead of using tiles or buying something pre-fab, we're waterproofing our wet-bath and building a custom shower pan entirely ourselves using fiberglass! Join us this week as we work to build tiny home living's most luxurious indoor/outdoor shower! Did you miss last week's tiny home episode (Shower Build Part 1)? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tE38Fax7DsU New here? Binge watch our Airstream build from the beginning: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWebYM5fbI&list=PLnZU0VokI3bdkYf_p-4rbnp6cIAafQXAC SUBSCRIBE! Bu bölümde Köyceğiz bölgesindeki Ekincik koyundan ayrılıyor, Marmaris Çiftlik koyuna doğru seyir yapıyoruz. Her koyun özelliklerini iyi tanımak lazım. Dileriz yine faydalı bir bölüm daha olur, keyifle izlersiniz 🙏🏻 lütfen beğenmeyi veya yorum yazmayı unutmayın 👍☺️ 👩🏻‍✈️👨🏻‍✈️ Sosyal Medya📱 İnstagram: eleven11sailing Facebook: eleven11sailing Podcast: Eleven11 Sailing / Götür Beni Denizlere https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbGrnMRkzYdgdxLVKroa9vys https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHftguUvrkFSjNkjFL0hCJl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbHXtj78EaasYMD6PLReS0Jm https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEb5TkeyXqg3Cot2v2w7KEB https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbEDV7fLjDGvTcwzgYDyaCmn https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLeqD99MDinbFZOjbIvU50GNmUy_tgdL1c #denizdeyaşam #eğlence #eğitim #yelkenli #sailing #tekne #sailinglife #boatshow #sailinglife #yaztatili #göcekkoyları #denizifilmleri #yelkenlifilmleri #yelkenli #deniz #mavi #eleven #elevensailing #tekne #eleven11 #sailingeleven #koy #gocek #göcek #solo #solokaptan #hanseyacht #hansetekne #eleven11sailing #bilgi #amatördenizci #solohayat #tuzluhayat #tuzlusu #kadın #kadınkaptan #denizden #denizci #denizcilik #yelkenvideoları #teknedeyiz #turkuaz #açıkdeniz #kişiselblog #sailing #sailingkanalı #koylar #hanse #hanse455 #hanse460 #hanse458 #hanse510 #boat #yelkendünyası #yatdünyası #yatçılık #adb #adbehliyet #kmt #gezi #seyahat #geziyorum #türkiyekoyları #türkiyem #ülkemingüzellikleri #yelkenli_tekne #tatil #ege #akdeniz #tekgövde #monohull #adyk #amatördenizciyiz #flok #anayelken #fullarma #selftacking #otomatiktramola #tramola #kavança #alestayelken #tekbaşıma #tuzluhayat #deniztutkusu #hobi #yelkenhobisi #deniz #denizci #denizcilik #denizler #denizden #yelken #seyir #mavitur #seyirdefteri #çiftlik #marmaris #lodos #iskele #akdeniz #iskele #restoran #yazlık #plaj #sahil

@SailingKawai This week we leave Australia and fly to Turkiye to be reacquainted with our boat Kawai. We have 2 weeks to get her ship shape before we leave our hard stand and are placed into the water. There are many jobs to do, as we receive new batteries, a new solar arch is installed and Trace heads up the mast to fix the anemometer. We have some last minute maintenance issues before we head to the safe bay of Marmaris. Our friends are arriving in 1 week so we take the opportunity to sail to the beautiful bay of Kumlubuk. With light winds we check our main and head sail and ready them for the season ahead. Kumlubuk is a large anchorage 7nm from Marmaris. The bay has a variety of restaurants and bars, walking trails and some lovely swimming bays. We use the perfect conditions to explore Amos and it's ancient ruins which has an amphitheatre dating back to the 4th century bc. With light winds we cruise back into Marmaris ready to pick up Damien and Nicole before we sail towards Gocek. About us: Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai. We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the last couple years we have sailed to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia. Jase loves making travel videos and we decided to upload to youtube to share our adventure. We really hope you enjoy and feel free to drop us a comment any time to chat or subscribe to follow along :) Instagram Jason: https://www.instagram.com/jase_stephe... This week I've done some DIY on the gas locker - it's a super bodge job but it'll keep the rain out until I can get someone to do a proper job. I also had a rummage under the front deck hoping to find treasure, and recorded some on-board cooking - check out my adorably tiny freezer and oven. Also this week, I tried a new rum!

We wake up to a stormy day in St Ninian's Bay, lift anchor and head out to Otter Ferry! We have steady winds of over 20 knots - thanks to wind inversions. All of a sudden, MONTHS of winter maintenance are worth it! Leave us a like & a comment and don't forget to subscribe! Who are we? We are a family of three with three dogs, sailing the coasts of Scotland, exploring one island at a time – for now! There is no set route or plan. We will go where the wind and life take us. We have two golden retrievers and a bernese mountain dog – Hachi, Luna and Meems who sail with us. We sail on a 1995 Gib’Sea 472 who we are in the process of refitting, making our own and preparing for a big adventure. Connect with us! Sailing is not all 100% extreme adventure all the time. We have learnt to enjoy the smaller everyday things and have gratitude for each day. In this video we show you some of the basic day to day activities, maintenance and outings. The guys service the dinghy outboard, Karen attempts her second ever paddle on the SUP and we adventure off to the opposite side of Cabedelo in search of new beaches. We are preparing to haul up anchor this week, to head off in search of new adventures, and with not knowing what our connectivity will be like, there might be a delay before we put out a new video but we hope to keep up with our weekly schedule as much as possible.

This episode begins at Shelter Bay Marina near the entrance to the Panama Canal. We’ve just arrived after a beautiful two day passage from the San Blas Islands, squeezing in behind the break wall after successfully circling around a tanker in a stiff breeze and choppy seas. First we get measured by an appointed inspector and come In at a whopping 42 feet - 6 feet over our hull length. We learn that 4 line handlers are required for the transit so our friends can now book their flights because we’ll have a transit date in 7 - 10 days. During that time we Bill does some engine maintenance because there is a $1,000 dollar fine if we break down in the canal. He changes the impeller and fuel filters and clears the sea strainer. Next it’s time to refuel so Bill empties the remaining gas into our tank from the jerry jugs, filtering it to remove potential contaminants. Then he picks up Brian & his fuel jugs, and heads to the fuel dock to load up. Soon an important visit from our agent occurs and the fenders and dock lines that we’ve rented are here. We’ll return them after transiting the canal. Finally our crew arrives and each of our line handlers practices tying a bowline because thats how the heaving line will be secured to the canal line. The next day we officially depart and head to our waypoint to pick up our advisor and head towards the first lock. We learn that we will be one of two boats in the nest or raft up so we’ll only really need 2 line handlers. Once rafted to a larger 48 foot sailboat, we move in unison and will remain tied together until the completion of the upcoming three locks which will lift us 90 feet and out of the Atlantic Ocean. Heaving lines are thrown from the canal walls and secured with a bowline to lift back the large blue canal lines. As we move through the first lock the advisor on our neighbor boat issues commands for both of us to proceed at “minimum forward” as he is in command of the raft being on the larger vessel. Our actions need to be coordinated so that we remain in the center of the lock as well as parallel to it walls. And as we make our way through the locks often times one boat will be in reverse and the other in forward to rotate the raft, much the way a twin screw power boat would maneuver. Finally with the sun setting we enter into the last lock of the day and prepare to be lifted the remaining height to Lake Gatun, officially 85ft above sea level where we’ll pick up a mooring buoy for the night before transiting the last three locks the following day. 0:00 Intro 1:06 Panama Canal Agents & Measurement 2:43 Recap 3:50 Officially measured at a whopping 42 feet! 4:55 $1,000 Fine, Check that engine! 6:50 Fresh Fuel 7:14 Shelter Bay Marina 8:11 Line & Fender Delivery 8:48 Crew Arrival 9:55 We Out! 15:48 Bye Bye Atlantic! 19:58 Into Lake Gatun! ~-~~-~~~-~~-~- Enjoying our channel? If you’ve been following our progress so far on Reverie, we appreciate you! In episode 52, our next steps in our marine overhaul is Installing Galley Bulkhead. This episode does not disappoint. To kick things off we discovered some dry rot wood on the bulked that’s separating the aft locker from the galley. :( Following the advice of a Master Marine Carpenter, we removed the damaged portion of the existing bulkhead and replaced it with a patch. The bulkhead was a mess, but we were able to successfully repair it by sister-ing a new piece of marine-grade plywood to the bulkhead, which helps to add additional strength and support. It took a little creativity, and the right tools, but in the end we were able to get it done! Have you ran into dry rot in the galley? Was it an easy fix? Hey Cruisers! In episode 53, I’m sharing a simple electrical repair I did on the Ritchie SS1002W Compass Light. Watch to see what happens! Troubleshooting a Ritchie Compass Light - Easy Fix If you don’t already know, most Richie Compass’ are 99.99% repairable. :) What makes Compass Light so special is there are parts still available today. To kick things off I’ll be repairing the original Ritchie Super Sport SS1002W that came with Reverie. I’ll run some new wiring to the compass to see if that fixes the issue. However, after a bit of troubleshooting it worked for a short time, but then stopped. It appears we will need to order special parts to repair our compass. Have you repaired a Richie Compass?
