FRENCH tourist visa for 6 MONTHS and travel in EUROPE longer

The SCHENGEN SHUFFLE wouldn't work but a LONG STAY VISA would extend our travel time in France and Italy. Sailing, exploring and sightseeing the Cote d'Azure should not be rushed and we needed boat maintenance time too. Restrictions prevent tourists staying longer than 3 months in the Euro Zone but FRANCE offers a long stay option. The VLS-T isn't impossible to get, but is time consuming.
