After an intense day of spearfishing and then getting swept away by a hurricane force wind storm. I started this day with little to no sleep. Raising the anchor we motored a few miles to a nearby island. Known to be one of the most beautiful islands in the Bahamas. Double Breasted Cay lived up to it's reputation and then some. As we approached the storm clouds seemed to vanish and the day of fun was on! We started out by exploring the island. Then I rigged up my kiteboarding equipment and started flying along over the shallow tropical water. I love this island! And this sailing lifestyle! While kiteboarding around the island cay, several sharks started to chase me. So I decided to chase the sharks right back! It was a fun game of cat and mouse on the water. And added a new level of excitement to and already exciting day. After that we went for a snorkel and then called it a day. My exhaustion was catching up to me from nearly sinking my sailboat yesterday. Of which I had to check the bottom of my boat for any damage. Which was all good! We ended the day with the most peaceful and gorgeous sunset around this already sunny tropical paradise island. With the drone I was able to see the full extent of the beauty that surrounded me. I LOVE THIS LIFE OF ADVENTURE!!! . . . This episode takes place from the sunrise to the sunset of April 12th 2021. . . Alla postazione di guida, due doppi divanetti fronte mare consentono a 4 persone di condividere le sensazioni del pilota. NOW SOLD but a very interesting video to watch if you seek inspiration on how to fit out a similar boat for live-aboard living and independent world cruising. Meet 'Amarillo', the strong, seaworthy and incredibly roomy Moody 425, one of the safest, and most remarkably conceived ocean cruising yacht ever created, and especially sought after by families who don't want a dangerously large boat but still want plenty of room to live-aboard with their family and go sailing around the world. .

Waking up with about 20 knots of wind was no big deal. We had anchored in a place with great protection from the Southerly wind direction. And so I took off on my paddleboard with my spearfishing gear to get Maru and myself some seafood dinner. After about an hour of spearfishing I had two hogfish and was thrilled that we'd have enough for a few meals. Paddling back I saw a storm on the horizon, but figured I had about a half hour before it hit my location. I was wrong! It flew in with terrible speed and ferocity! Changing the wind strength and direction. What was about 20 knots from the South. Rapidly turned to more than 70 knots from the West(recorded by other boaters nearby)! I got thrown downwind and missed my sailboat by less than 20 feet! I was devastated! And completely unable to paddle upwind against the raging storm. Thankfully downwind was the island. So I was not cast out to sea. But unfortunately that meant my boat could drag anchor and go hard aground as well. Or worst, end up on the rocks! On the beach and wondering if at moment I would see my sailboat dragging towards shore through the whiteout conditions. I reorganized my gear and set out on an ridiculously arduous paddle straight into the gale force winds, immense waves and a complete white out of rain. I only had to paddle 1000 feet. But that felt borderline impossible as dug the paddle deep into the water while balancing on my knees and staying no more two feet above the board. Any more and the force of the winds would be too great. After more than a half hour, I was near total muscle failure. About to give up, and only able to look into the torrent of howling wind and water. I finally saw my sailboat. I remember the sweet moment I got in the lee of the wind behind my now sideways to the wind boat. It felt like I'd cross the finish line and finally won this battle against the storm. But I knew there was still more to be done...... Maru threw me a line and somehow, we managed to get all my gear up and into the boat. Haphazardly throwing anything loose into a locker or below deck. I could not come up with a plan to get us out of here..... I took a couple precious minutes to carefully weigh all my options. There was no clear right answer of what to do next. But I decided that this storm was not letting up anytime soon. And the wind was already beginning to change direction again. If we did drag anchor here, there would only be moments to react before my sailboat would be on the rock cliffs that earlier were giving us soo much protection. So I decided to risk raising the anchor..... I do not have an electric windlass! I did this by hand with Maru carefully driving the boat upwind. Even at full tilt, my engine could barley move forward. At any moment it could have all gone wrong......... After making enough progress that I'd have a few moments to react. We once again turned on the cameras. Showing us motoring out of that ship breaking bay. It was a grueling experience. And there was still more to go! . . . (This episode is Part 2 of 2) After a wonderful morning sailing across the bank and anchoring up in Grand Cay. Maru and I hop in the water to checkout what's around. Maru does not get far though, as she makes an adorable friend. A tiny remora she promptly named "Remorita". I swim up current and find my own friend. A slightly bigger remora I named "Remoria Jounior". This fish sticks to me for more than an hour as I swim around and collect dinner. Passing up on many fish and conch I wait to take my shot on a nice Gray Snapper. And then later find a good size queen conch with a thick fully mature lip. (Queen conch is legal to take in the Bahamas provided it has a fully flanged and mature lip.) Ending the day with a nice meal anchored in a tropical paradise. Fishermen Dream of the days of Glass Calm Crystal Clear water in the Florida Keys while fishing for Dolphin! Other wise know as a Mahi Mahi or Dorado, Dolphin are amongst some of the most sought after game fish while Deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys. Not only are they beautiful, they fight great and taste delicious, which equates to the most Epic Fishing Videos in a bay boat! There are a lot of different methods to catch Mahi Mahi, but we spend the morning throwing the cast net for pilchards to add live bait to our arsenal. Once we acquire bait we head to the Islamorada Hump to do some live chumming, which deems to be productive! After that we do some running and gunning, trolling, and share different tips and techniques based on how to catch dolphin fish. Once we tire out we run the boat from the deep sea in towards the shallow reefs to do some scenic snorkeling. Thereafter we head to the dock to clean up the fish to enjoy a delicious Mahi Mahi fish recipe!
