The American Youth Sailing Force got a chance to sail the AC45 catamarans as part of the tryouts held in November by ORACLE TEAM USA. With some strong coaching they demonstrated their ability to not only get the boat around the course but to learn from the detailed debriefs after each of the on the water sessions. It was an opportunity for the guys to get up close to the AC45's and the people connected to the ORACLE TEAM USA campaigns The tryout wasn't just about sailing. The AYSF guys had to prove just how fit they were. Matt said what they put the team through was just 1/16 of what the Cup sailors do each day. When you see the ORACLE TEAM USA sailors in the gym, you know that wasn't an understatement. The tryouts yielded two teams who will move on to the Red Bull Youth America's Cup next September. The American Youth Sailing Force is Team San Francisco and Team America is representing the United States. Tommy said it best, "There are a lot of talented people trying out and we need to concentrate on our team. That's all that we have control over." It was enough.
