I'm back aboard after spending New Years Eve at my house. My keel stepped mast is leaking water into the boat whenever it rains. The water enters the boat inside the mast. If I want a carpet on the cabin sole, I'll need to handle both the leaky mast and the condensation under the nav station.

Thank you for being our friend. 2014 has been a year of change for me, personally. Shane is still working at a remote office in town. He manages to find a way to get out and enjoy nature while having fun whenever he gets a spare minute. He shares what he's up to on Instagram. Shane started a hydroponic garden where he's growing leafy greens for salads. He and Kelly have been into gardening in our raised beds since Kelly was a baby. Now he's taking that passion year round. I can't wait for year round strawberries and kale! Kelly is doing homeschool preschool with me. He loves helping mom in the kitchen, listening to music, meeting up with friends, and playing with dad. Kelly has transitioned into being a big brother really well. Wyatt joined our family in May this year. He's now on the move and loves getting attention from his big brother. I have been at home full-time with the boys since May of this year. I have been homeschooling Kelly for preschool and doing some video editing for our family videos, but also a few clients here and there after the boys go to sleep. As a family we've been making some strides when it comes to sustainabilty. We're looking forward to growing in the hydroponic space, believing it to be a sustainable farming method. Food product waste creeps into our house on a weekly basis still, but we've created a system for routine purchases and eat a diet that relies less on food products, which helps with that. I pack Shane lunches in the morning using his tiffin still and make a big veggie dinner at night. We were grateful to celebrate Shane's brother Ryan marry Adrea this year, my brother's engagement to Yesenia, and my parents becoming real estate agents with John L Scott. We'll continue to get healthy and eliminate waste waste in 2015. I would love to add in more fitness to my routine, and I know Shane wants to up our green juices. Condensation was a significant issue during the first days of my livaboard test. It may sound a bit silly, but I'm very surprised at how much humidity affects the amount of condensation. I went from having pools of condensation on the cabin sole to having no condensation at all. The only thing that's changed is the humidity inside the boat. I still need more insulation, but this experience may change where and how much insulation I end up putting up.

This was our first trip to Bali, by plane, not sailboat. When a place is as hyped as Bali as the ultimate "tourist destination", we are always prepared to be a little disappointed, but there really is something magnetic and facinating about the place: a mystique and an aura that is distinctly different. The new airport is designed to reflect it's Hindu heritage with distinct architecture. Even in areas like Kuta with designer shopping, or Legian Beach with the young "white" surfers and beer-guzzling crowd, it's possible to find an oasis in the middle of all the noise and traffic, like Adus Beach Inn. It's in the very heart of Legian beach area surrounded by tall buildings and sourvenier and money exchange shops, but the Hindu Balinese owners have built a cosy accomodation with tropical gardens, pool and fountains, and its own family Temple on site. Here you feel peace and hear water bubbling and see calming and beautiful gardens and sculpture. On the streets modern malls intermix with grandiose sculptures of mythic Balinese Heroes. In the evening you can find in the Nusa Dua area, Pirate's Bay, a theme restaurant with tree houses and shipwrecks as dining venues. Delicious Drunken Chicken and Beef Rendang! The Bali Yacht Club adds another dimension to the area just south of the airport with berths and docking for visiting yachts, and a nautical restaurant from where you can admire your own or, more likely, someone else's luxury yacht. Ubud is an area in the interior of Bali Island. It is known to be more of an area for at, contemplation, and temples rather than beaches, mindless shopping, and bawdy parties. Our clip starts with villagers in a street procession celebrating one of the many Balinese festivals that occur during the 210-day Hindu year. We discovered an absolutely unique upscale accommodation that epitomizes the idea of art, contemplation, and a celebration of the senses. The Mansion Baliwood Resort Hotel is an eclectic, almost eccentric, collection of accomodation choices immersed in radiant, pleasurable tropical and cultural surroundings that delighted and facinated us at every turn. There are 6 swimming pools, plunge pools, and numerous public and private reflection pools: soothing, pleasing water just about everywhere that you look. As you see from our walking tour, this place is like Wonderland compared to a boring predictable Raddison or Meridien Hotel. Ubud area itself is a beautiful place for a walking tour. The Hindu Temples are elaborate, exotic, and inscrutable. As with Baliwood, each time you turn your head, you see a facinating scene, be it rice terraces and coolie hatted natives working in rice fields, to buildings and temples hanging on hillsides, to artists working with unusual mediums. Ubud, like much of Bali is a rich and foreign environment to us Westerners, really something unique in our experience, and much different from the Christian and Moslem parts of Indonesia that we have visited.
