A bit more about the sailing side of things - put the new assy up for the first time, (much needed investment after one HUNDRED too many times of being becalmed and going a little/lot crazy…) the halliard broke and fell down, broken winch with no spare parts onboard ... but luckily Jack who is a professional 'bicycle mechanic' back in Australia sorted it out for us (cheers Jack). But we made it across an ocean!! Bye bye Jack, thanks for keeping us laughing and taking the terrible hours on watch. One of our videos for family and friends on our world travel on board Catamaran Impi - here we are still in Fiji and anchored off Viani Bay where we did some snorkelling VIANI BAY - a terrific day with Staffan Ehde and his family on SV SALSA, with Craig Chalker and Leanne Chalker on SV TRUE BLUE V. The local resident who visits each and every yacht by dinghy, Jack Fischer, came out to see us and told us of the good dive spots around Rainbow Reef. SV Salsa family kindly offered that Jack take Salsa out dragging our dinghy behind so we could anchor with a yacht in closer proximity to the reef which otherwise would have been a long dinghy ride. After 18 days through the Southern Ocean and grim conditions, Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, MAPFRE, Team Brunel and Team Alvimedica arrived into Itajaí to finish Leg 5!

With just hours to go until the boats arrive in Itajaí, the sailors are focused and the stress onboard is beginning to show. After over 6,000 miles, this leg can still be won or lost, making every decision a potential game changer.

At the beginning of this video, there is a bit of footage to compare the SJ4000 to the Go Pro 3+ Black (I'm holding the Go Pro and the rest of the video is shot with the Go Pro). The appraisal of my house is just around the corner (a couple of weeks). After two long days, the garden is almost ready. There are still some minor jobs to take care both inside the house and in the garden, but I'm a lot closer to being ready. I've received the Isotherm kit I'll use to convert my icebox into a fridge. Also, I've been playing around with getting the Sail Life logo printed on T-shirts.

Der Soundtrack zum geplanten Film... ..entsteht ja zur Zeit in dem kleinen, aber feinen "rooted music studio" hier in Hamburg Schnelsen. Es wird noch ein langer Weg bis zum fertigen Film, der die großen Emotionen und Erlebnisse meiner Reise dokumentieren soll, aber wir haben es in der Tat geschafft die Basis für 15 Songs zu legen. Die Produktionstage gingen von morgens bis Mitternacht und ich bin nach diesen 6 Tagen total hinüber. Als ich meinen Plan im Studio präsentierte wurde noch geschmunzelt, aber nachdem wir in den ersten Tagen 9 Titel im Kasten hatten, wurde aus dem Schmunzeln echtes Staunen. Und das war nur möglich, weil ich das Glück habe mit den besten Leuten arbeiten zu können. Und einfach einmal alles zusammenpasst. So als wäre das Schicksal einmal ganz auf meiner Seite. Das Gefühl seine eigenen kleinen Ideen bis hin zu einem großen Song wachsen zu sehen, ist absolut einzigartig. Und auch hier lebt die Produktion vom Input und den Ideen jedes einzelnen Musikers und unseres Toningenieurs. Bevor ich nun für eine Woche in die Türkei fahre um dort meine Akkus wieder aufzuladen, möchte ich noch schnell dieses Video als Dank an alle Beteiligten präsentieren. Ich freue mich nun extrem auf die nun folgenden Gesangssessions Ende April!
