Half way in to crossing the Atlantic the squalls continues and we don't get a lot of sleep. But the days pass fast anyway and when there's only a couple of days left the trade winds kicks in and we start to logg many miles per day. After 18 days we arrive early morning to St. Davids on Grenada after an incredible experience! We are a Swedish couple who wanted a different kind of life. So we moved aboard our sailboat RAN, a custom built aluminium Beason 40, and untied the lines in the middle of the Swedish winter and started to sail south along the coast of Europe. There is no set route and we will go where the wind and our minds takes us. Friends, followers, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from www.HaveWindWillTravel.com! A real treat for you here, available for the first time to my entire audience: my two-hour movie from our trans-Atlantic. For those of you who are new, Phillip and I had the good fortune to be invited as part of a four-member crew to cross the Atlantic, sailing from Florida to France, this past June on a 46’ catamaran and I created my first full-length film documenting our journey. Continuing on our journey in circumnavigation, we leave the Dominican Republic and cross the notorious Mona Passage (2 days & 2 nights nonstop) to Puerto Rico. This video is about our thanksgiving trip in Curacao with our children. As you have seen they don't travel with us much due to busy careers and lives but we get a full dose on this one! Enjoy.

With the Boxing Day morning weather briefing giving little hint of any significant heavy upwind conditions for the duration of the race, the chief concerns amongst most of the fleet appeared to be in getting through the forecast heavy airs running on the first night with boat and crew in tact. Crosbie Lorimer spoke to a number of skippers and crew before they left the dock this morning to see what they made of the forecast and who they thought it favoured for an overall IRC win. As you’ll see, one boat in particular seems to be considered a hot favourite for a Tattersall’s Cup win.

A Single-Handed Sailor's Summer 2016 Part 5 Germany, Holland and Home. In Parts 1-4 we ('Talisker 1' and me) sailed from East Anglia to Shetland. Then on to Bergen, Norway before sailing to the most southern tip of Norway, Mandal. We then crossed the Skagerrak Sea and sailed down the eastern side of Denmark to Germany. This is the final video of 5 which takes us from Kiel, through the canal and in to the mighty Elbe.
