Episode 2: Warm Creek Canyon - We sailed into a small canyon which had some sand for beaching. The further west you are on this lake, the more sandy beach and anchoring options; however, the further east you sail, the more beautiful! Warm Creek was the transition. When we left Warm Creek, every bend in the lake brought forth an even more heartbreakingly gorgeous landscape! Finding a good sand beach with plenty of places to explore and swim or simply kick back and read, we stayed Saturday and Sunday night as we adjusted our schedules to boat-time! We hike around in Haleakela National park, check out a waterfall and the bamboo forest, do some cliff jumping in Venus Pools, and explore some underwater caves! Impi is a catamaran sailing around the world - right now we are sailing the east coast of Australia having cleared in at Bundaberg, Queensland. In the episode, we are sailing for Tin Can Bay where we will encounter a dolphin swimming up to the dinghy to greet us, but first we need to tack into head winds across Hervey Bay and into the Sandy Straights where we will visit Kingfisher Resort, Garrys Anchorage and finally Tin Can Bay. Come along with us for a quick drive up Coal Creek Canyon in our 1986 Porsche 3.2 Carrera Cabriolet and 1995 911 – 993 Carrera Cabriolet. Shot across a couple days, it has been unseasonable warm so the roads are clear and was perfect for some top down tootling! Along the way we encountered Sabastian who had just pulled over with a flat tire in his Volvo S70. We stayed with him while he swapped out the tire, but the spare was flat! Luckily I had a foot pump in Shamoo and after lots of pumping he was all set. We got back on our way after he was back on the road. Always fun to make new friends out and about. Sabastian: If you read this, I hope you got home ok :). As you were pulling out, I think I heard some noise from your VC joints, so get that along with front bearings, alignment, and suspension/steering bits looked at when you are getting new front tires. Let us know if you want to come by and we can put your car on the lift and take look from underneath. Four-time Volvo Ocean Race veteran and two-time Olympic medallist Xabi Fernández has been announced as MAPFRE skipper for the 2017-18 edition.
