The 437.01ft Custom motor yacht motor yacht 'Al Mirqab' was built by Kusch Yachts in Germany at their Wewelsfleth shipyard , she was delivered to her owner in 2008 and last refitted in 2014. The yacht's interior has been designed by Andrew Winch. Accommodation Al Mirqab offers accommodation for up to 25 guests. She is also capable of carrying up to 55 crew onboard to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience. Interior Design Her richly ornate interior features a grand staircase with sides made from hand-cut crystal panels. The centre of the well is occupied by a suspended glass artwork by Dale Chihuly. Alone in paradise, but trying to anchor in deep water, between acres of rocks, reefs and coral bommies is no joking matter. We weren't going to be beaten because this was the most impressive place we'd found yet in the deserted island group. Tired and fed up after an hour of re-anchoring, we dropped the pick in 21m of water, in the middle of a tropical island paradise and were the only boat there. Not another sailboat in sight, not even a fishing boat or a canoe, this was true tropical island paradise. Sailboat living at its finest! For the first time ever, Liz was lost for words at the beauty of these untouched natural surroundings. And while Jamie snorkeled from one healthy reef to the next coral garden, Liz ranged the area in our kayak. We found paradise, and this is why we live this liveaboard life. Just 43 seconds separated near-sister ships Black Jack (Peter Harburg) and Wild Oats XI (the Oatley family) in the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia’s SOLAS Big Boat Challenge on Sydney Harbour today, when the black Queensland boat, skippered by Mark Bradford, swooped across the finish line first at Fort Denison in a fresh north-easterly breeze. The last time the two boats raced head-to-head on the Harbour was in 2009 when Black Jack raced as Alfa Romeo. That year, Alfa Romeo, then owned by Neville Crichton, went on to claim line honours in the Rolex Sydney Hobart. No doubt Peter Harburg is hoping this is the first chapter in a repeat of 2009, though he concedes it is early days. “It is nicer to win than to come second, but a swallow doesn’t make a summer,” Harburg said. “These are two good boats and two very good crews. It comes down to the roll of the dice.
