We did not enjoy our first day motoring the ICW and were afraid the whole trip was going to be a flop! We were feeling discouraged. On the 2nd day of motoring the ICW we traveled 5 miles south to an anchorage just south of Peanut Island. It was nice to just relax, but we were bummed to find that there were no good places to go ashore to hang out, eat a nice meal, or play on the beach. Peanut Island was way too over crowded and was a MAD HOUSE just trying to motor around it. The next day we motored 26 miles and stopped at a marina for the night. While there we found a chain that we could use as a weight on the anchor rode. The marina office had Wifi which we were excited about, but they refused to give us the password and told us that the internet wasn't working very well anyway. We were really bored and decided to try to do some laundry in the showers! haha it was funny and worked..okay...haha The following day we motored to Fort Lauderdale and seemed to be timing the bridges just right. We had to motor at full throttle though, and felt rushed the whole time, but it was okay. Once we got to Fort Lauderdale we grabbed our very first mooring ball at the Las Olas Marina, but quickly wrapped the keel with the line b/c of the opposing wind and current of water! We didn't have much of a choice, but to let the line free and try to slip it under the boat between the keel and the prop, but it ended up getting stuck on the rudder in the process! Randall got in the dinghy and tried to push to boat off the line, but it didn't work. Randall was able to pull up the slimy mooring ball line just enough to get us free and then was able to quickly get back on board to help grab a different mooring ball. It was very stressful in the moment and we were just glad we didn't crash into the bridge once we got free. Nous avions peur de ne pas pouvoir tout faire tenir sur la kayak entre le matériel de plongée, les palmes, le bidon étanche, mais finalement ça va, tout passe et c'est faisable.

Porto de pedras e apenas para aventureiros, pois sua entrada via mar, e bem complicada. Principalmente em mar alto, pois os recifes formam ondas grandes no trecho critico.

C'est stressant, quand même, partir en mer dans un voilier avec lequel tu n'as jamais vraiment testées les grosses houles et les fortes rafales. Mais on a été agréablement surpris. Le Galway Bay peut définitivement en prendre plus que nous. En tant que jeunes adultes, une navigation comme celle-ci représente, jusqu'à maintenant, la plus grande chose qu'on ait accompli de toute notre vie. The 380’s followed on from the success of the 38’s as the most successful Australian built cruiser / racer and can be viewed as the ultimate cross over yacht. The big cockpit suits competitive racing with the traveller, larger wheel and big self tailing genoa winches while it equally suits cruising and entertaining accommodating six for drinks plus a couple more in the very comfy Princess seats. A swim ladder, anchor winch (new 2016), auto-pilot, bimini, lazy jacks with boom bag are all big ticks for the cruising sailor. Hélitreuillage et sauvetage d'Yves le Blevec par le MRCC chilien. Alors qu’il tentait le record du Tour du monde à l’envers en solitaire, en multicoque, l’Ultim Actual a chaviré au large du Cap Horn vers 4h du matin heure française. L’un des bras de liaison bâbord du trimaran a cassé, provoquant le chavirage de l’Ultim. Le vent de secteur ouest-nord-ouest soufflait à 30 – 40 nœuds au moment du chavirage, il y avait 5m de creux. Le parcours du tour du monde à la voile le plus connu est celui du Vendée Globe qui part de France (les Sables d’Olonne en Vendée) pour doubler les trois caps : Bonne Espérance, Leuwin, Horn et retour. Yves Le Blevec va partir dans l’autre sens, c’est-à-dire qu’il va commencer par doubler le cap Horn, pour finir par celui de Bonne Espérance. Ainsi, au lieu de naviguer d’ouest en est, dans le même sens que les dépressions (et donc des vents et des vagues qu’elles génèrent), ce parcours « à l’envers » se négocie d’est en ouest, contre vents et courants. Pour que ce parcours soit validé par le WSSRC (World Speed Sailing Record Council), il faut couper tous les méridiens et franchir au moins une fois l’Équateur. In 35 to 40-knot winds and mountainous waves during Leg 3 from Cape Town to Melbourne, team AkzoNobel damaged their mast-track and mainsail in a gybe that went wrong. Helmsman Chris Nicholson explains what happened.

My old gas strut is bad so I need to change it to a new. The original is pretty expensive so i order a unoriginal from a Danish firm at www.fjedre.dk At seldén´s site it is mentioned you can get the gas strut in three different sizes for the Rodkicker 10 "normal (600N) - hard (1200N) - ekstra hard (2500N)" Maybe a fault from my site to buy a 2500N. but time will show if it is ok or not for my boat. The "2019" update : I have changed my 2500N strut to a 600N due to the 2500N was so strong it could carry my bodyweight (85kg) and the boom, the other problem was the 2500N was to hard for my ropes and the rodkicker connections. Think the 600N gives a nice balance between the rodkicker and the boom lift, so choose a 600N if you have a 32-40 feet boat.
