After the tangled anchors drifting out to sea debacle last week we experienced last week, I sent everyone off to have some down time away from the boat. Daniel would go to Athens and then rendezvous with us in Malta, in particular though Elayna I thought needed a bit of a break. She and Kayla went to the island of Ios which is actually where Elayna and I met. It was a shame I couldn't get there myself but we still needed to get the boat back La Grande Motte before leaving the Mediterranean and I knew from previous experience how difficult it gets rushing from East to West in the Med late in the season. Winter Is Coming. To be honest its the least I could do. If you guys could only see how much time and effort Elayna puts into just one episode you would fall off your chair. I can't edit movies like she can but I can sail a boat by myself to keep the team heading in the right direction. I intended to sail solo from Greece to Malta but that was before I met Houmaid, one of the most interesting guys I've come across. In this vid I talk about sextants, how they work, and get into shooting the sun. Then I talk about the basic mathematical principles underlying celestial navigation.

We finish up our talk on the theory behind celestial navigation, then get into computing a running sun fix using the Celesticomp pocket computer. As a conclusion I offer my opinions on celestial navigation in a GPS world. Feel free to comment back with your opinions on this!

We are on our way to Agadir! We were all very excited as we had heard many good stories about Agadir. Unfortunately we had no wind on the way down so it was a 2 day motor. On the way down Rohan caught his first TUNA WHOOOOOOO and Jo caught his first MAHI MAHI... they were both delicious. We had a bit of a scare about 80NM from Agadir when a small boat with 4 guys on it turned around and start following us at a high speed, we locked the cabins up, all us girls went and hid inside and Rohan gave Inspire some gas and heading in the opposite direction! This was SCARY!! But they did not catch us, this was a good reality check that we are in the Ocean and have to be mindful that you can have people follow you and try and board your yacht. Other then that we spent the morning with some beautiful dolphins and arrived in to Agadir around 6pm to find no one around... Everyone was very helpful and we found our berth to stay for a few days. Agadir was a fantastic City to explore, well worth the stop. Morocco is a beautiful Country! if you have a chance, definitely go for a visit. #7 Et oui! Ainsi le remorquage s'impose, lorsque le canal de la Dismal Swamp se remplit d'algues au point où on ne voit même plus l'eau! On ne remerciera jamais assez nos remorqueurs, les gens du Carina, sans lesquels nous serions restés pris dans ce canal plus qu'étroit. Heureusement, il ne nous arrive pas que des histoires terribles😂. Avant toutes ces péripéties, on a passé du très bon temps à Portsmouth, qui se trouve juste à côté de Norfolk. Le quai gratuit auquel on était amarré était bondé de voiliers ayant le même itinéraire que nous. Ainsi, les superbes rencontres s'en sont suivies. Ps: Portsmouth se prononce Port-smooth plutôt que Port-sm-out, ce que j'appris APRÈS m'être filmée en articulant avec assurance ces mauvaises prononciations.
