Very shortly after waking up to heavy rain and wind, hauling anchor, and sailing towards West End, Grand Bahama, Eric takes a little slip and very nearly cuts his own toe off! It was bone deep and required some flesh readjustment, butterflies, and massive amounts of gauze, but he puts himself together again while Loren assists. Undaunted we proceed to have a beautiful sail (and a Happy Birthday) towards West End, all the while sipping fuel during the light wind spots, keeping our fingers crossed not to run out before reaching our destination. The 180-foot ketch Marie is a sister vessel to the triple award-winning sailing yacht Adele. While featuring an identical hull, keel, rudder and sail plan, Marie has a new and entirely customised interior and deck layout. She was built at Vitters Shipyard and launched in 2010. The fabulous looks and sensational performance of Adele had already inspired the owners of the 174-foot sloop Erica XII and the 204-foot schooner Athos.

Is there anything better than seeing the beautiful lines of a J-Class yacht doing what it does best - slicing through the water? We've been involved in a number of J-Class projects as part of the class' revival, working on Lionheart, Topaz and Svea, so seeing this exceptionally-elegant class on the water is what we live for. This clip of J Classes racing during the 2016 St Barths Bucket does a perfect job of showing why...

The 2017 America's Cup saw the first America's Cup yachts to ever be built - the J-Class - take to the water alongside their modern counterparts. With only ten ever built, spectators are always thrilled to see the class racing, and with seven Js battling it out in Bermuda, it was the largest gathering in the history of the class, giving space for a decades old rivalry to play out.

Take an in depth look at what goes into a J-Class regatta, in this clip summing up the 2017 America's Cup J Class racing - age-old rivalries, splendour and grace in abundance and a brand new vessel, built from eighty year old plans. That vessel, Svea, is a project we were very proud to work on. Taking the original plans and honouring her design while ensuring the end result was a yacht successful in every possible way, was a project we were truly proud to undertake.

This 33' Pilot Classic daysailer Essence 33 is being series-built by Essence Yachts in the Netherlands. The first one is delivered in 2012 and already four yachts are built up to date. Hull no 4 of the E33 was sold to the US and is sailing in New York waters what attracted attention and make the sale of hull no 5. The new J Class Yacht Svea was launched in January 2017 to an original hull linesplan of Thore Holm made in 1937. Fast forward, this spectacular new J took 80 years to finally touch the water and is one of the most promising new J-Class Yachts built to date. This 108-foot design is based on the multiple deckhouse concepts that our office developed for the superyachts Adele, Erica and Athos. Twin deckhouses and twin cockpits have been combined with a flush deck layout. The aft cockpit is used for steering, while the central one is designed for socialising. The aft deckhouse incorporates the navigation station and gives access to the owners' suite. The forward deckhouse incorporates the dining area and lounge, and provides access to the lower saloon. Following on from the successful TC 90-1 Kealoha and TC 90-2 Atalante, TC 90-3 Acadia has been built at Claasen Jachtbouw for an experienced yacht owner. While a number of alternative interiors have been developed for this design, the main deck layout remains identical to all the TC 90 designs. The aft owners cabin is located under the aft deckhouse therefore this cabin is very roomy, light and volumness. The owners cabin also gives access to the aft cockpit. The Truly Classic 85 Velacarina is a ketch with tall carbon spars, a deep draught keel and a spade rudder. She has separate crew quarters, a large engine room and a very special feature whereby the complete tender and outboard can be stored below decks. This allows her owners to explore remote areas such as the Antarctic and Iceland.

Three Truly Classic 78s have been launched so far: Heartbeat, Drumfire and Bontekoning. The TC 78 Bontekoning is based on a hull similar to Hartbeat and Drumfire, although she has a shallower draught of 2.60 m and an aluminium furling mast. In keeping with Truly Classic tradition, Bontekoning has a deckhouse configuration as well as a separate engine room with standing headroom to starboard. The giant schooner Athos, with an overall length of 203 feet and a length over deck of 184 feet, was launched in 2010 at Holland Jachtbouw to considerable acclaim. The design was subject to tank tests with various keels and rudders on a 1:10 scale - an actual 19-foot model was used - as well as extensive wind tunnel tests. Thanks to these preparations, Athos has a graceful aero and hydrodynamic shape, with a deep-V hull, shallow draught keel and integrated centreboard configuration. For one month we explore these amazing islands off the coast of Africa. It was our first of three legs for our Atlantic crossing run and we weren't expecting to be so wowed! Hanging with a whale in our dinghy, climbing massive mountains, watching 200 yachts leave for the Caribbean in a rally, the best zoo in the world (according to trip adviser), famous architects homes, fabulous food and extreme sailing of course. Its all jam packed into the is one episode! We are the Robbins family sailing on our boat named Nikau. We are a family of 5. Our 3 kids are doing NZ correspondence school on board. They are growing to love it! What's not to love about 3 hours of school a day and then a different playground for the afternoon every day! We've traveled from New Zealand to Sardinia in Italy to pick up our boat and we plan over a few seasons to sail her back to New Zealand. We hope you enjoy following us on our adventures!
