The 128 ft Truly Classic Vijonara crosses the finish line the last race of the st Barth Bucket 2nd in her Class. Congrats! A Port Starboard protest with Gelliceaux was not accepted because the red flag was not shown, otherwise Vijonara would have won the overall Bucket! credits: michaelkurtzphoto

Iltchi is a tough, stylish and fast ketch, designed to reward her owner with a great sailing experience. In terms of appearance, this 76ft centreboard ketch is something of a departure for Hoek Design, but as far as function is concerned, she is very much within our scope of naval architecture. Designed as a long-distance, go anywhere cruising yacht with a ketch-rigged sail plan, she should be powerful and efficient off the wind and easily managed by a short-handed crew. She is destined for Pacific cruising, where her ability to reduce draft to 2.6m should come in very useful. The focal point of the accommodation is a combined galley, navigation and dining area located in the main deckhouse where the occupants can enjoy a superb 360° view of their surroundings. The owners’ cabin and one guest cabin are located forward with two guest cabins aft, one of which can become a crew cabin if required. The interior is finished in white washed oak and features leather upholstered seating. The main cockpit is large and well protected with all sheet winches positioned within reach of the helmsman. There is tender stowage beneath the expansive aft deck and the transom door opens to double as a swimming and boarding platform. Her aluminium hull was built by Alucraft and fitted out and finished by Aluboot, both in the Netherlands. Iltchi is named after Winnetou’s horse in the German novels of the same name – it means ‘wind’.
Our most recent launch, the Truly Classic 128-03, Grace, will be exhibited at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021 in the New Sailing Yacht Area at the Quail'Hirondelle.
Based on the successes of the first Truly Classic 128 Atalante and TC128-2 Vijonara built at Pendennis, a third TC 128 has been built a SES yachts in Turkey, with hull construction at Bloemsma. The options available for the Truly Classic 128 are clearly illustrated aboard the latest interpretation of the design with the owner requesting a single deckhouse and a steering position set well aft. Her design again shares the same hull lines but has a different sailplan deck and interior layout. In addition, this yacht will be unusual in that she has a fractional sailplan, which should provide her with a sparkling performance in light winds. The spreaders are swept back, so that only one set of runners and staysails are required. The boom will be of Park Avenue type for easy sail handling. Under the water a torpedo-style T-bulb keel has been carefully designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and positioned slightly further aft so that it relates to the mast step position and the machinery space positioned slightly further aft in this yacht. With a spade rudder and no skeg this yacht, which has a similar righting moment to that of a J-Class, will be a powerful and exciting sailing yacht. Down below the deckhouse saloon has been moved aft and the classical styling throughout is from our own Hoek Design team. Our office is responsible for the exterior and interior styling and design and all naval architecture work.
Halekai is Hawaiian for ‘house on the sea’ – and what a house! The name of the owners’ previous yacht also has Hawaiian origins, so this elegant, powerful sloop is a natural progression for a highly experienced repeat customer. Based on a Bloemsma fabricated aluminum hull, Halekai, the fourth yacht in the 128 series, was completed by Pendennis Shipyard in Falmouth, UK and is the second successful project we have completed with the Cornish yard. Although based on the well-proven 128 hull design, Halekai is highly customized with a flexible deckplan package for regatta performance, specialized kite surfing and sailboard stowage in the amidships cockpit and a custom navigation station in the aft deckhouse which leads into the working cockpit. Hoek Design is responsible for the general arrangement and all the interior joinery and worked closely with celebrated American interior designer Ken Fulk who has injected a Hawaiian influence. The yacht can accommodate eight guests, including the owners, and five crew.
Meet BLUE II, a collaboration between Turquoise Yachts and Hoek Design. She's truly one of a kind! With an interior volume of 785 GT, the yacht boasts an immense amount of varied and functional space over four decks affording guests comfort for extended cruising. Video by Guillaume Plisson
The exiting new 76' ketch 'Iltchi' was launched this week. She is built to a new design by Hoek Design Naval Architects. The aluminium-hulled yacht has been developed for a European owner as a long-distance cruising yacht that is easy to handle, fast and comfortable for cruising.
The 156'sloop Wisp was conceived following a design brief to create a safe, comfortable cruising yacht, capable of long distances and the occasional gentlemen's race.
Weatherly was designed specifically for single-handed sailing and achieved the highest speed possible from a 65-foot boat. To meet these ambitious targets, this deep-draught boat has a displacement of just eighteen tonnes – equivalent to that of a Volvo 60! No option was left unexplored in the effort to keep the boat as lightweight as possible, and she was built in West epoxy with carbon spars, 3DL sails and a carbon rudder.
Leveraging on all the experience gained with sailing the first Truly Classic 108 Jazz jr., the second incorporated a series of improvements and was delivered in the summer of 2012 by the Proteksan yard. These operational alterations aside, Simba was very much a sister-ship of the first TC 108, with only the soft furnishings being different in the interior.
This elegant 23m motorboat is a new concept by Hoek Design for a chaseboat destined for a sailing superyacht. Key tasks are to get guests from ashore to the motheryacht in comfort and without having to sit in a tender under a sprayhood, serve as a diving platform and to accommodate extra crew or guests. The boat had to have a Pacific range meaning she is able to be powered by engines underway for 750 miles at cruising speed. The boat is designed with two 925 hp SCANIA engines to drive fixed propellers for a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 25 knots. The boat is built at Claasen Shipyards in the Netherlands.

Last year we had a great time with the Atalante 1 crossing the Atlantic, cruising the Caribbean and New England states and finally sailing all the way down the western Greenland coast. I wanted to share with you a slightly spooky video taken during our Greenland cruising which is a bit special. About Truly Classic 90-2 "Atalante 1" The second TC 90 Atalante was built at Claasen in 2009 as a sister vessel to the award winning TC 90 Kealoha. Atalante has an identical hull, keel, rudder and sail plan, but a customised interior and deck layout. Read more: https://www.hoekdesign.com/yacht/tc90-2-atalante
