Hull number 5 of the Truly Classic 128 series has just been turned at SES Yachts, Turkey

Based on the successes of the first Truly Classic 128 Atalante and TC128-2 Vijonara built at Pendennis, a third TC 128 has been built a SES yachts in Turkey, with hull construction at Bloemsma. The options available for the Truly Classic 128 are clearly illustrated aboard the latest interpretation of the design with the owner requesting a single deckhouse and a steering position set well aft. Her design again shares the same hull lines but has a different sailplan deck and interior layout. In addition, this yacht will be unusual in that she has a fractional sailplan, which should provide her with a sparkling performance in light winds. The spreaders are swept back, so that only one set of runners and staysails are required. The boom will be of Park Avenue type for easy sail handling. Under the water a torpedo-style T-bulb keel has been carefully designed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and positioned slightly further aft so that it relates to the mast step position and the machinery space positioned slightly further aft in this yacht. With a spade rudder and no skeg this yacht, which has a similar righting moment to that of a J-Class, will be a powerful and exciting sailing yacht. Down below the deckhouse saloon has been moved aft and the classical styling throughout is from our own Hoek Design team. Leveraging on all the experience gained with sailing the first Truly Classic 108 Jazz jr., the second incorporated a series of improvements and was delivered in the summer of 2012 by the Proteksan yard. These operational alterations aside, Simba was very much a sister-ship of the first TC 108, with only the soft furnishings being different in the interior.

This elegant 23m motorboat is a new concept by Hoek Design for a chaseboat destined for a sailing superyacht. Key tasks are to get guests from ashore to the motheryacht in comfort and without having to sit in a tender under a sprayhood, serve as a diving platform and to accommodate extra crew or guests. The boat had to have a Pacific range meaning she is able to be powered by engines underway for 750 miles at cruising speed. The boat is designed with two 925 hp SCANIA engines to drive fixed propellers for a cruising speed of 15 knots and a top speed of 25 knots. The boat is built at Claasen Shipyards in the Netherlands.

Last year we had a great time with the Atalante 1 crossing the Atlantic, cruising the Caribbean and New England states and finally sailing all the way down the western Greenland coast. I wanted to share with you a slightly spooky video taken during our Greenland cruising which is a bit special. About Truly Classic 90-2 "Atalante 1" The second TC 90 Atalante was built at Claasen in 2009 as a sister vessel to the award winning TC 90 Kealoha. The giant schooner Athos, with an overall length of 203 feet and a length over deck of 184 feet, was launched in 2010 at Holland Jachtbouw to considerable acclaim. The design was subject to tank tests with various keels and rudders on a 1:10 scale - an actual 19-foot model was used - as well as extensive wind tunnel tests. Thanks to these preparations, Athos has a graceful aero and hydrodynamic shape, with a deep-V hull, shallow draught keel and integrated centreboard configuration. The 23-metre Chase Boat MY Stargazer was launched last Thursday by Claasen Shipyards in the Netherlands. Hoek Design was responsible for all the naval architecture, structural engineering and exterior & interior design for this superb vessel. The Truly Classic 128-2 Vijonara was the winner of the "Best Exterior Award" at the Boat International Design awards in Cortina Italy in February 2019. She is a sister vessel to the multiple award winning yacht Atalante. This shows how well the Truly Classic concept of semi custom building works. Based on a proven hull concept that owners can see and sail / charter and then make their own decisions on interior and deck layout. This highly reduces the amount of decision making. Firefly is the prototype of a new one-design race-classic called the F-class. She is developed as a high-performance racer and optimised to race in the Spirit of Tradition class. The design brief called for "a yacht to be fast on all points of sail, both in light and heavy winds and be able to perform as well as a J-class yacht or better”. With a displacement of just below sixty tonnes and a draught of 5.2 metres, the design is extremely powerful. While the one-design class developed under the auspices of the F-Class Association allows for a lifting keel to be used, the prototype was built with a fixed keel. The deck layout can be customised. The interior of the first yacht is minimal, although a more common interior layout is also possible and accepted under the Class rules. The 180-foot ketch Marie is a sister vessel to the triple award-winning sailing yacht Adele. While featuring an identical hull, keel, rudder and sail plan, Marie has a new and entirely customised interior and deck layout. She was built at Vitters Shipyard and launched in 2010. The fabulous looks and sensational performance of Adele had already inspired the owners of the 174-foot sloop Erica XII and the 204-foot schooner Athos.

The 2017 America's Cup saw the first America's Cup yachts to ever be built - the J-Class - take to the water alongside their modern counterparts. With only ten ever built, spectators are always thrilled to see the class racing, and with seven Js battling it out in Bermuda, it was the largest gathering in the history of the class, giving space for a decades old rivalry to play out.
