After a hectic cruise since before Gibraltar and to just before Tunisia, we finally hit calm seas with some DOWNWIND sailing for a change!!! What bliss. The check in procedure was horrendous, with 7 Officials boarding the boat, shoes and all, going through each and every conceivable locker, and confiscating all our drones and GoPro's, we were rather annoyed with the system . . . Then it was off to Turkey. We passed a couple of Greek Islands, which was like holding a carrot before a donkey, we looked but could not stop as our Schengen visas had expired. We finally arrived after a 28 day passage, meeting up with our dearest Yacht buddies from the USA, whom we met in Cape Town just before we left. We hooked up in Cabo Verde, and it was great seeing them again, before they pushed off back home, after 11 years of blue water cruising. Our last 4 days were super smooth sailing, it was amazing. Sailing to Les Iles de la Petite Terre; . Petite Terre in Guadeloupe is a National Marine Park full of wildlife such as turtles, tarpon, tuna and reef fish. We sail to Pointe à Pitre via Les Saintes to pick up Jim Poirier, then carry on to Les Iles de la Petite Terre where we spend a couple days enjoying the marine environment. There are always large fish under the boat to watch! With just a few moorings, not many boats have a spot stay overnight and it is a peaceful, relaxing spot for a vacation. This week we take a little road trip across to the East coast of Florida to what is affectionately known as the "Space Coast". This is where Cape Canaveral is located and where NASA and now private companies launch rockets into outer space. We took the girls to see a SpaceX Launch which was exciting for sure. We took the girls to a playground and then off to a surprise for them. They both love to watch videos about Snakes and we found a place that stores and extracts venom from snakes for the production of anti-venom. They do tours, feedings and also educational tours. The girls had a blast and we show you some of the wilder sides of nature like feeding snapping turtles, feeding gators and also snakes. Как, оказалось, нести вахту очень скучно. И чтобы решить эту проблему мы накупили сложного навигационного оборудования. Новейший картплоттер, аис, эхолот, специальные яхтсменские часы, и даже компас. Хотя если честно компас мы не используем. Не разобрались как им пользоваться. И прежде чем мы расскажем о несении вахт, давайте мы познакомим вас с нашим навигационным оборудованием. Часы. Это странно но сегодня часы покупают для всего чего угодно, но только не для того чтобы смотреть время. Кто-то покупает, чтобы подчеркнуть статус, а кто-то, чтобы подчеркнуть уникальный функционал. Мы не исключение, ведь зачем яхтсмену часы, если в море счет идет на дни и даже недели. Мы используем часы как судовой барометр. Якорный сторож, резервный джипиэс приемник, и таймер. Именно таймер во время несения вахт сигнализирует нам, что пора посмотреть вокруг и проверить обстановку. Аис, система, созданная для предупреждения столкновения судов в море. Она дает нам точную информацию об окружающих нас судах, их размере, скорости, направлении и месте где они потенциально могут тебя переехать. Мы используем аис для дальнего обнаружения. Благодаря этой системе мы видим суда за десятки миль. Для примера в хорошую погоду находясь на Майорке, мы видим корабли, которые стоят на рейде у порта Барселоны. Да-да. это первый прибор который мы включаем после бдительности при выходе в море. Для нас эта система ближнего обнаружения. При помощи него мы отслеживаем малые цели. Рыбацкие суда, катера, надувные лодки, байдарки, и всех тех, кто сэкономил на установке аиса. Для надежности мы поставляем в радары два охранных рубежа. Один в радиусе примерно трех миль, второй в радиусе мили. И как только объект попадает в защищенную зону, мы получаем сигнал тревоги и начинаем просчитывать варианты расхождения. Картплоттер. Это, прежде всего наша электронная карта. Без него мы бы никогда не попали из точки. А в точку Б. Но это еще не все. Картплоттер это место, куда стекается вся информация, получаемая от устройств на нашей яхте. Сюда присылает данные аис и мы видим все крупные суда прямо на карте. Здесь можно видеть рельеф дна. Результаты работы радара. Направление силу ветра, и даже собственное отражение. Конечно осознавая всю важность данного прибора для нашей морской жизни, мы дублируем его главный функционал при помощи планшета и карт навионикс. Бинокль для нас просто незаменимая вещь. Ведь на яхте находятся 2 близоруких человека. Особенно он необходим, когда мы подходим близко к береговой линии. Ну, вы поняли. Теперь расскажем вам про сами вахты. Как правило, во время морских переходов вся наша жизнь перемещается в кокпит, но мы продолжаем работать, учиться, монтировать ролики и делать маникюр. У нас нет четкого графика вахт. Как правило, вахтенный тот, у кого капитанские часы. Часы дают нам сигнал каждые 20 минут. И тогда мы выполняем несложные действия. Первое - это круговой обзор в бинокль, на 360 градусов. Для того чтобы размять спину. Второе – проверку в картплоттере ситуацию с окружающими нас судами. Третье - проверка местоположения и правильности курса. Четвертое - проверка силы ветра и его направления. Ну и если стоят паруса, то проверяем их настройку. Ночью все в принципе, то же самое. Мы остаемся в кокпите и спим в нем даже когда очень холодно. Само собой на закате включаем ходовые огни, и чтобы не терять остроту зрения переводим приборы в ночной режим.
