This week on Sailing Kawai we leave the stunning Island of Milos where we had spent some spectacular days in crystal clear waters and head further North East. The weather forecast is for consistent Southerlies so we head for the Greek Island of Sifnos. We spend a night in the idealic town of Vathy, where we enjoy a great anchorage and some beautiful views. We continue sailing towards Paros where we plan to spend some days. Due to the Southerlies, we decide on an anchorage near Naoussa. The sail to Paros is relaxing with winds between 10 - 25 knots. The island is extremely quiet and it feels like we are the only people in the town (November). Naoussa is a typical Cycladic town, with beautiful white buildings, quaint alleyways and an enchanting atmosphere. With the sailing season coming to an end there are few shops open. The cyclades are known to shut down after September so we manage to get a large provision in out of town and decide to sail to Mykonos. About us: Our names are Jason and Tracey and we traded our house, cars, business, job and security for freedom, adventure, travel and living simply amongst nature and the seas on our 45 foot Hanse 445 sailing boat, Kawai. We don't know exactly where the winds will take us at this stage but over the next year we hope to sail to Turkey, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia. Seguimos alcanzando metas. Es importante fijarse objetivos (realizables) y cumplirlos. Hoy me había propuesto conectar y configurar el AIS, y conectarlo a TIMEZERO, de nuestros socios tecnológicos: MAXSEA. En referencia a las consultas sobre el pabellón del barco. En Francia (y también: Bélgica, Holanda, Polonia...) permiten hacer esto; en España tiene que venir un técnico (homologado por la DGMM) y expedir un certificado sin el cual no se puede despachar el barco y navegar. Por eso en España no llevan AIS todos los barcos de recreo. Y, en mi oponión, es un elemento de seguridad activa ndispensable, y que tendría que ser obligatorio (y no la mamonada de tener que revisar la balsa salvavidas anualmente, desoyendo las indicaciones del fabricante, que no exige algo tan absurdo) ¿Sabemos más de barcos y de navegar en España que en Francia? ahí lo dejo. There are not too many of this style of Autoprop bearings out there so this video will be invaluable to the owners of this propeller. The H5 tab washer (TW) has a similar teardown to the tab screw version, except it uses a lock washer in place of a locking bolt to keep the blade nut in place. It is a straightforward procedure that should take no more than an afternoon to complete. Eigentlich hatten wir alles, was wir immer wollten: eine großartige Beziehung, gute Freunde, gute Jobs und eine wunderschöne Wohnung. Und dennoch fragten wir uns irgendwann, ob das alles sein kann. Nachwuchs ist für uns vorerst kein Thema und so sehnten wir uns zunehmend danach, unser konservatives Großstadt-Leben gegen ein Abenteuer zu tauschen. Und wir begannen von einem Leben auf dem Meer zu träumen... Seitdem ist nichts mehr, wie es war. Wir haben viel gespart, einen Segelkurs besucht und schließlich unsere geräumige Wohnung in der Stadt gegen ein Segelboot getauscht. Mittlerweile haben wir unsere SY Insieme durch das westliche Mittelmeer, durch die Straße von Gibraltar, auf die Kanarischen Inseln und über den Atlantik bis in die Karibik gesegelt. Bis jetzt haben wir es nicht bereut. In unserem Film erzählen wir euch unsere Geschichte: Wie aus einem Hirngespinst ein fixer Plan wurde. Wie es uns dabei erging, mit Anlauf ins kalte Wasser zu springen - von unseren ersten Segelmanövern bis zur Atlantiküberquerung…. A short ride through the countryside in the early spring. Still testing out settings. This came out much better than the first video. Found some new LUTs to try out in Davinci Resolve, put more effort into editing and I think the result is much more natural looking and crisper than the first effort. Well, the original footage was much better too. Still need to get the wind noise sorted.
