Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach on Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. As of March 20th, China required that all people returning to China serve a mandatory 14-day government-supervised quarantine in their facility. Our friends Janet and Mike got caught up in this extreme quarantine on the way back from Bali and spent a total of 20 days in quarantine before they could get out because the system was so overloaded. On top of that, a week later China totally shut itself off to foreign nationals because their quarantine system was overloaded by the threat of the return of Covid-19 coming from outside the country. Today was our last official day of the quarantine, so we wanted to do whatever we could to help Janet and Mike who just started their 14-day ordeal in a strange place a couple of hours away from Qingdao. In this video I show you how to make your own stylish raised planters for vegetables or flowers. These planters are great for getting your garden up to an easily manageable height. They're real back savers. They are also great if your ground does not drain well or you have soil or insect issues that prevent you from planting directly in the ground. A decisão de ir para Montserrat foi mais ou menos assim: abri o guia, vi que tinha vulcão e disse "Vamos!". No dia seguinte compramos a bandeira da ilha na loja para não mudarmos de ideia e seguimos pra lá, meio sem saber muito o que esperar. Foi do nada e a ideia era ver o vulcão! Queria descer na ilha e fazer um tour pela "Pompéia moderna" que tinha restado após a erupção de 1997 - teve até um show em homenagem à Montserrat. Enfim, chegamos lá sem saber nem se podia ancorar na praia onde pretendíamos jogar nossa âncora! Mas quando avistei o vulcão, dando a sorte de ter um céu limpo, mesmo de longe, com aquela fumacinha... cara! Que emoção! Parecia um desenho de criança, saindo FUMACINHA!!! Depois fomos nos aproximando e assustamos com o cheiro NOJENTO que o vulcão soltava! Aqui (que eu acho que ninguem lê) vou confessar: a gente navegou numa área restrita! Mas só um pouquinho! Ah, não dava pra passar tão longe do vulcão! Queria ver!!!! E eu achei que ele seria a coisa mais legal da ilha! Ah! Encontrei uma alma irmã pelo caminho! A gente não se joga no carro de desconhecidos, mas o Joe em 4 minutos era meu amigo de infância! Ele falava mais que o homem da cobra! E tinha as histórias mais incríveis, fomos pra casa dele, ouvimos música... que delícia de dia! Mas infelizmente pra gente é difícil ficar longe do barco muito tempo, não temos como saber se está tudo bem na ancoragem... Tivemos que voltar! Na volta conhecemos os finlandeses Sari e Markko, do Sailing Olivia. Queridíssimos, mostraram o dessalinizador, o barco, a babosa e a sauna! Quantas surpresas vivemos em Montserrat!

Can you bend wood without steaming? In this episode I demonstrate a procedure called “backing out”. Backing out is the process of scooping out wood from the inside of a plank to give it a little hollow or concave surface. This allows the plank to appear to be bent and sit tight up against a curved frame. The degree of backing out changes along the plank’s length as the curve of the frames it rests on changes. I will do this with the round bottomed hollowing Plane I had created in an earlier episode. This plane, also referred to as a Coopering Plane, is an important tool for a shipwright who is “backing out planks” in carvel planking.
