Vlog#5 We explore Grays Harbour and have a look at some sea lions. Jess fixes our sail that we ripped along the way. After the gale passes over we head back out into the ocean for an overnight sail down to Tillamook Bay. We were really scared about this bar crossing, everything we could find online about it said it was the most dangerous bar on the whole coast. There has been many crazy storms, and unfortunately many tragic deaths. We were happily surprised that our planning of the tide and weather was perfect. It was completely calm when we went through, there was even fishing boats right in the middle of it fishing!! We motored up the river into Garabaldi where tied up at the marina. It was really quiet at this marina compared to other ones we stayed at as there's no sea lions because they don't allow the fishermen to throw their scraps anywhere nearby! Since this is such a dangerous bar that not many cruisers bother going to, theres not many amenities at the marina. Its basically just a slip, and you pay on the honour system. One of the local fisherman pulled up and offered us some crab as he had caught more than we was allowed! This was the first time Jessica has ever eaten a crab, always been a vegetarian, but now living on the water its time to start eating seafood!! Enjoy our final episode in this series. Our road trip through the United States has come to an end. We have spent 63 wonderful days in the USA, we drove for 14.453 km and crossed 21 states. It was an amazing trip! In this episode, you'll see our second trip to Disney World Orlando. This time it was a long and magical day that we all enjoyed very much! This was our last activity before we had to take our flight back to Europe. But before going to Miami International Airport, we stopped at the biggest Mc Donalds in the World. It is big. It was fun! We didn't have much luck leaving though. After a lot of hours of waiting our flight first got delayed, and later that night it got cancelled. So we got a hotel for the night and got rescheduled on another flight the next day.  It was a long and exhausting way home. We are almost finished refitting our port forward cabin⛵️Cleo goes missing‼️we bake in our little gas oven 🍰 celebrate Mother’s Day and try to figure out how to get out of the Western Cape for winter ❄️ In this episode we take you through our process of getting our forward cabins to a livable state while in lockdown. It took us about 6 weeks in total because once again we had 6 projects going at one time. We started out with bare fiberglass walls, they needed to be sanded and then faired to try and get rid of as many imperfections in the fiberglass as possible. We then fitted the cupboards at the end of the cabin to optimize space, with there being a porthole at the end of the cabin we had to figure out a way of making the most of that space without losing the light of the porthole. After the cupboards were fitted the walls were stippled, sanded down and painted. The bed boards and hatches under the bed were then painted. The cupboards were then painted and electrical wires fitted for the lighting and plug points in the cabin, we have to wait until we fit some of the finishing touches because of lockdown and not being able to get into hardware stores. CLEO WENT MISSING! We thought that Cleo had gotten into trouble while trying to board the yacht, we haven’t seen her in two days and started to worry because in our 6 weeks of looking after her she had never spent that much time away from us. We were her personal search and rescue team combing through the resort and looking for her, Denver on the canoes checking the rocks for a little furry body and Teagan shedding tears at the thought of it. BUT she was found and was okay after all the stress and tears. We make lemon meringue cupcakes for Mother’s Day while trying to relax a little and enjoy the day! We also want to find out if it is possible to leave port and head home for the winter! Riaprono le scuole nautiche per chi vuole conseguire la patente nautica entro le 12 miglia o la patente nautica senza limiti dalla costa. Dopo una lunga trattativa con le Regioni, ed una attesa che ci ha lasciati a lungo con il fiato sospeso, il presidente del Consiglio Giuseppe Conte nel pomeriggio di domenica ha firmato il nuovo decreto con le misure per la fase 2 che saranno in vigore a partire da lunedì 18 maggio 2020. http://www.governo.it/sites/new.governo.it/files/DPCM_20200517_txt.pdf Vediamo insieme i punti che ci riguardano da vicino. Nell’Art. 1 comma 1 al punto Q sospende tutte le attività didattiche i servizi educativi ed i corsi professionali Però leggendo tra le righe dice anche che: "Sono esclusi dalla sospensione, a decorrere dal 20 maggio 2020, quindi dal prossimo mercoledì, i corsi abilitanti e le prove teoriche e pratiche effettuate dagli uffici della motorizzazione civile e dalle autoscuole, secondo le modalità individuate nelle linee guida adottate dal Ministero delle infrastrutture e dei trasporti." Quindi si riparte con le lezioni in aula nelle scuole nautiche autorizzate… Però so già qual’é la domanda che vuoi farmi e la risposta è… "No di esami ancora non se ne parla." L’idea è quella di riprendere le sessioni di esame da fine giugno ma i protocolli non sono ancora del tutto chiari. Appena avremo qualche ulteriore notizia e soprattutto qualcosa di certo ti farò sapere. Nel frattempo però ti posso dare un’altra fantastica notizia…possiamo ricominciare a navigare! Il ministero dei trasposti ha pubblicato proprio ieri le linee guida per il trasporto nautico e la balneazione. http://www.mit.gov.it/comunicazione/news/fase-2bis-linee-guida-mit-per-il-trasporto-nautico-e-la-balneazione Gli aspetti principali che ci riguardano sono: Viene richiesta la massima responsabilità individuale e quindi di - evitare contatti ravvicinati - sanificare gli ambienti - protezione del naso e della bocca con le mascherine - mantenere ad una distanza tra le persone di almeno un metro L’unica deroga a questo punto viene fatta per le persone che vivono nella stessa casa. Anche per i parenti, se non conviventi, è richiesto di rispettare la distanza di sicurezza. E non si sono dimenticati le unità da diporto ad uso commerciale Il numero massimo di persone trasportabili sarà stabilito sulla base della capienza dell’unità e sulla possibilità di mantenere il metro di distanza. Obbligatoria la dotazione a bordo di dispositivi di protezione individuale per ciascun occupante ed igienizzante per superfici. Anche per i trasporti marittimi, rimane l’obbligo di attenersi alla normativa per gli spostamenti nella Regione e tra le Regioni e il rispetto delle normative internazionali anti-contagio durante la navigazione fuori dalle acque territoriali nazionali. Per le società che svolgono, in forma commerciale, attività legate al diporto o allo svolgimento di attività acquatiche, e quindi locazione escursioni in barca e locazione unità da diporto si richiede che vengano potenziati i servizi di pulizia delle imbarcazioni. Entriamo nello specifico parlando di locazione dell’unità da diporto. In questo caso si applicano le stesse norme di prevenzione previste per le imbarcazioni private. Sono consentiti alloggi nella stessa cabina a persone che vivono già sotto lo stesso tetto. Chi affitta la barca è tenuto a sanificare tutti i locali, compresi quelli motori e servizi, prima di ogni nuovo imbarco. L’unità dovrà essere provvista di prodotti igienizzanti oltre che di cartellonistica informativa per sensibilizzare gli ospiti sulla necessarie misure igieniche da adottare. Nel caso di ingaggio di uno skipper da parte del locatario, si applicheranno le stesse disposizioni previste l’equipaggio nel caso di noleggio. In caso di noleggio non cambia molto rispetto alla locazione. Sostanziale è invece la presenza dell’equipaggio: Per quanto concerne l’equipaggio, obbligo di utilizzo di mascherine e guanti e di ogni altro dispositivo di protezione in funzione della tipologia dell’unità in particolare, durante le operazioni di ormeggio, disormeggio, bunkeraggio ed eventuale rimorchio. Last weekend we had a lot of struggles and 1 big highlight was well :) On the 17th of April 2020 we left marina Port Ghalib in Egypt, heading south towards Sudan and Djibouti and finally Maldives. We will take it easy, enjoy the beautiful reefs of the red sea and keep an eye on the corona regulations of the ports we pass. Since many countries are closed we don't know where we will be allowed to go on land again, but we can survive 4 month without seeing anybody :) This journey is only a small part of our trip that started 2 years ago. In Spain we decided to go with our own boat, and in no time we were the happy owners of 'Messenger'.
