Join us as we fly the kite and sail through New England visiting Cape Cod and Isle of Shoals NH along the way! We set sail leaving Block Island in our wake. The conditions are absolutely perfect so we decide to hoist our spinnaker from Precision Sails. We have an amazing sail and stop in Hadley Harbor, just next to Woods Hole, where we switch out to our new outboard engine on Maggie. With wind in our favor we sail to the Cape Cod Canal and then to ProvinceTown (P-Town), Cape Cod where we explore the beach and lighthouse. We make it to Isle of Shoals in New Hampshire where we explore the islands by drone and dinghy, actually making it into Maine waters for the first time this season! Firstly, I am enjoying a few more untroubled days with Heinz, Wilm and Klaus on St. Martin until the pandemic suddenly and hardly catches up with us in the Caribbean Sea. The cruise finds a sudden end on St. Barths because of the escalating situation. Then I am sailing on myself to Martinique to meet Anke. During the two-day cruise down there, France issues a lockdown decree and, in the morning, when I arrive in Fort de France the borders are closed. But I meet Anke there after 2 months. With local help we can take provisions and diesel on board. Fortunately, next day I can do customs clearance and immigrations in Le Marin. Anke and I are lying at anchor during the lockdown for weeks in the bay of Sainte-Anne. But we make the best out of it until Anke finally gets a flight back to Germany in mid-April. Now I am starting preparations for my return trip to Germany. Ahoy, it's friday and we are sailing to the Tuamotus right now. Using the last little bit of Internet to upload this video for you. Many people asked us when we leave the boatyard, some actually offered their help with the projects.. BUT, We left the boatyard quite a while ago, crossed the Pacific Ocean and arrived Happy in French Polynesia. Thanks a lot to all your positive vibes, offers and ideas. We actually would have loved to meet a few of you and work on ZERO together.. maybe next time.. (which is hopefully not too soon..) When we started sailing again we wanted to share our adventures not only virtual but live with real people who like sailing. So we had a few people onboard already and when we crossed over from Mexico to French Polynesia we offered 3 hitchhikers a ride and all of us enjoyed it a lot. Now we have 5 extra crew and even though ZERO is a little packed we make the best out of it and enjoy every day. We're going to talk more about it soon.. but for now we sail.. Welcome you to my sailing boat refitting channel this episode l start making drawers, l receive my hatch also put up the frame for my galley and tons of other stuff.

While we were sailing in Mexico, we got most of our fish while Spearfishing. As we were experimenting and learning, I got my spear stuck at depth and I crushed my depth record twice that day. First time beyond 40 ft and crushed that record right after recovering my spear and the fish @ recorded depth of 52ft. Definitely not a world record but it was a big mile stone for me.

We made it through a road trip across the country, launching and motoring to a new yard, demolition of the interior, dropping the keel, grinding pounds and pounds of fiberglass and gelcoat...and NOW it's time to get cleaning. No way we could sum up the amount of cleaning needed into one video, but that's all you get. I know, I know, you really want 5 or 6 videos showing you how we used the shop-vac, fans, brooms and toothbrushes to clean things - but I mean we just can't film everything! Keep in mind we bought her at auction without ever meeting the owner! The owner was sailing along and ran aground - hard. Hard enough that the keel pivoted and pushed the aft end up into the hull. This force cracked the internal grid in several places and broke a portion of the grid free from hull. At some point an inspection was done, insurance was called and decisions were made. I loved surfing this wave so much, mainly because its a very unique wave that only breaks 30 minutes on either end of the low tide and also only appears when there is 25kts or above coming from the south. the swell(fetch) wraps 180 degrees around the island to create this small but ridable wave. such good fun! We met in the summer 2015, we were introduced to each other by the virtual world. Eighteen months later we were getting married on a beautiful beach in Barbados, bare foot, very simple ceremony with our 4 kids, just like a dream! Two days after the wedding laying on the beach, talking about sailing, Carla suggested... why don't we sail around the world? Guess what Simon said? "Let's do it" He took it with no second thoughts! And here we are, two years after that day in Barbados, we started our adventure in Croatia. We made it happen working through all the challenges on the way. Now we are enjoying this wonderful life, and what a wonderful life it is! As we travel we will cross less fortunate countries, we would love to help to build a school or a health care centre, anything that these people may need, and in our beautiful world this is taken for granted. There are a number of things we did to tailor our #Seawind 1600 #Catamaran to suit our needs as #liveaboards. Those creature comforts you don’t give a second thought to when living in a house on land. Maintaining a comfortable temperature inside the boat, reliable internet access, a mattress to our preference and the ability to make water are the key aspects of comfortable living for us. For the times when we are on anchor for long weekends or vacations we want to be able to make water so we got our #SpectraWaterMaker up and running when we spent a week down in Biscayne Bay. To say that we are not experts is putting it mildly but with a bit of help from JT at Halden Marine Service, even a couple of clowns like us got it working. Oh, and if you're wondering, we have the Spectra Watermaker 330 Cape Horn Extreme https://spectrawatermakers.com/us/us/11125-cape-horn-extreme-330. We received the boat at the end of July in South Florida. That means extreme heat. Since Fabio is still working we are keeping the boat at a dock so the air flow and temperature isn’t what it would be on anchor. We realized quickly we needed to have exterior window shades made to block as much of the UV rays and heat coming into the cockpit as possible. Without exterior shades the window glass temperature got as high as 130 degrees F. Rodney from Rodney’s Marine Canvas saved my sanity. He provided a quality product at a reasonable price, quickly. The fabric used for the window shades is called Soltis96. It has a very tight weave and blocks 96% of the sunlight while preserving the level of natural light transmitted, plus it’s waterproof. It’s installed with self adhering snaps called snads so there’s no drilling in the boat. They adhere with a high bond glue made by 3m. It makes a huge difference on the temperature inside of the boat and there’s still plenty of light. This was the first project we tackled ourselves. We installed the Redport Halo WiFi Extender System which includes an optimizer (similar to a router) and an antennae so we have Wi-Fi on the boat. It works by taking a weak Wi-Fi signal and boosting it. A video detailing the full installation will be coming soon. The mattress that came with the boat was very firm and we prefer a soft mattress so we shopped around and ordered a custom mattress from Handcraft Mattress Company that was made right here in Ft. Im ersten Teil geht es über die Elbe in die Nordsee nach Dover und in die Bretagne.

In Glowe krijgen we familie aan boord en zeilen we naar Sassnitz, Lohme en weer terug naar Glowe. In Glowe en Sassnitz zien we slangen van stenen liggen die in de eerste COVID lockdown zijn gemaakt door mensen uit de buurt. Doordat de haven in Lohme vol is varen we maar liefst 3 keer langs de krijtrotsen van Jasmund National Park. Ben zet Christine achter het roer en zo wordt ze minder snel zeeziek. We verlaten dan Rügen en zeilen naar Rønne op Bornholm. Wij zijn Ben en Felia. Jaren hebben wij de droom gehad om samen over de wereld te zeilen. In mei 2020 zijn we aan dit grote avontuur begonnen. In onze Atlantic43, Eva genaamd, gaan wij waar de wind ons brengt. Eva is een aluminium zeiljacht met ophaalbare kiel. Op onze website kun je hierover meer informatie vinden.
