"I was very focused on my task and had a search sector that I had to search very closely - with 600 metres between passages. One passage took me an hour. So it would have taken 15 to 20 hours to search the entire search field that was assigned to me. At this moment, of course, one realises how large the search field is and that one is looking for a needle in a haystack. I was very motivated and looked in all the right places as best I could. At the same time it was of course foreseeable that you would not manage to look for 10 hours. It was extremely cold with high swell and spray coming over the deck. There are limits somewhere. But it was great to see that the regatta management diverted all the boats that were available nearby and that we were able to search together with a fleet. So we gave luck every chance and luck finally led to Kevin being found. This is a great relief and now the tension is dropping. Of course there is also a certain sadness and the thoughts are with him. I am already back to my normal race, but I am not yet back to where the race is with my head, but that will certainly come soon. In any case, I will give myself some time today to let things sink in."

What to see in Lofoten - Norwegian fishing history at Å Fishing Village Museum I took the ferry from Bodø to Lofoten and visit the Fishing Village Museum in Å to see how the fishermen used to live back in the days when they travelled far to join the winter fishing in Lofoten for the cod. It was very interesting and I got to learn about the cod liver production, how fishermen used to sleep in or under their boats in the midle of the cold winter nights and I got to see their boats and equipment. A very interesting day in Lofoten! This video has no mid-roll ads as I find ad breaks terribly annoying. Please help me keeping it so by giving it a like, leave a comment down below and subscribe. Antares women talk about their experiences sailing and discuss everything from why they went sailing, to dealing with roles and responsibilities while cruising the world. Sarah Silverstein of s/v Field Trip moderates this session, and draws some candid advice from fellow female sailors.
Ben and Alie go a bit outside the park near Prideaux Haven to go fishing and score some rock fish. Alie learns to filet a fish while Ben plans the next days sail. Toba Inlet is a glacier fed fjord that's absolutely stunning and the two experience waterfalls and amazing views on the way up the inlet.
finally back in the water: the full refit sailing yacht is coming to an end. We have reached the Final stage full refit sailing yacht with only our sails, batteries and instruments left. A big sailboat project with the biggest part our beautiful new teak deck. The next chapter in our sailboat project vlog of refitting a beneteau 57. Refitting a sailing yacht and living on a boat isn't easy especially when living on a boat with a kid. But the prospect of us sailing a beneteau and being only the business couple sailing around the world on our sail boat Perfect Sense is all we need. No more refit at the boat yard. Vlog#27 We sail from La Cruz to Punta de Mita. This journey wasn’t a long one, just to the tip of Banderas Bay but we saw the most whales we’ve ever seen in that short of time! Every tack we made we were dodging them. The engine breaks down and we have no idea why so we have no choice but to sail into the anchorage and anchor under sail! We’ve done it once before so we weren’t scared. But it’s never something you really want to do. We finally get anchored and trav figures out the problem, thank god it’s an easy fix this time. We snorkel around and clean the bottom of our boat, which is totally disgusting, because we’ve been procrastinating on it. But we finally get it done. Also get bitten everywhere by some weird bugs? Sea lice? Does anyone know what these are? Also Jessica gets stung but a jellyfish for the first time and is not happy at all about it 😂 The waves that were predicted for surfing never really arrived so we decided to just make our own and go dinghy surfing! Catch ya next time! -------------------------------- Instagram- @Sailingdecorum --------------------------------- --------------------------------- *WHO ARE WE?* •We are a Canadian couple, Travis and Jessica. We are cruising around on our 32ft 1981 C&C sailboat. We started our journey in Vancouver, Canada, not really knowing how to sail. Arriving in a new marina can be stressful, but with good preparation and naivily or a good pilot book it's not a big problem. Enjoy! Took the boat out and raised only the jib for a leisurely sail. Karen set a goal of becoming natural sailor. We did a few tacks. Refueled ourselves with some delicious ham sandwiches and then refueled Cakewalk. Went into a dream state. Found a nice cove for some walking exercise and cartwheels. Did some dancing…as always. Had a wonderful relaxing time. #278 Thanks for your support on Patreon (http://bit.ly/SLVPatreon) Being offered 10 million dollars via email. Crazy right? Would you have replied to the email? Are we naive to think it could have been real? We'll never truely know what went on there. We're out on the island of Faial. We're going freediving, making sure we're following the local rules and regulations, and we're joined by the most amazing sea creature which we hear is teeming in the Azores this time of year. We're checking out new volcanic landmass and having a good old time in Horta. Also any diver/science/shark people out there who can tell us whether you can stare down a shark? Link us your scientific papers, crackpot theories or pictures of you personally confirming it in practice. Thanks in advance team.
