Vista maravilhosa. Do alvorecer e o por do sol. Baía da Ribeira e de Ilha Grande. Programe um charter e venha conhecer este paraíso…será um prazer recebê-lo a bordo. Bvs

Taking our mast down was one of the first things we did when we arrived in Fiji, to increase the boat's security during cyclone season. Before we put the mast back up, we want to use this opportunity to add a third stay. This will give us more sail configurations and make it easier to sail of the boat double handed. But before we start this work we're first going to move the mast next to the boat. Our mast is 27m and made of carbon fibre and the previous owner informed us that it cost him 250k aud! Something we could never even dream of replacing. So as you can imagine we were pretty nervous about moving it. Let's hope we don't break anything! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Consider supporting us on Patreon https://www.patreon.com/SailingNV If you don't like Patreon but would like to chip in for a coffee, beer, sand paper or epoxy click here https://www.ko-fi.com/sailingnv -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Previous videos in this refit series: 01 Can we turn an Open 66 race boat into a fast family cruiser?! https://youtu.be/Hi4re2-dK2w 02 Quadrant glued to rudder post - how do we get it off without damaging everything??! https://youtu.be/TaDgceTS9bU 03 How we removed our giant carbon fiber rudder with a hydraulic jack! https://youtu.be/1D-eP4EHyIM 04 Life in Fiji, CYCLONE SEASON is coming! https://youtu.be/pDmKJLLgxZM 05 CYCLONE CONTAINER strategy & Solo's ACCIDENT https://youtu.be/YVpMZrN3_WI 06 Boat cradle build https://youtu.be/cWvcQ3LOtk4 07 Building a bow BOAT CRADLE and DOG WHEELCHAIR https://youtu.be/SrF9IHHaHxg 08 Santa came early this year - we can hardly CONTAIN ourselves! https://youtu.be/Z5Eku-QsXAs 09 Just in time! We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple with countless ocean miles under our belts, including sailing half way around the world from Europe to Fiji! Last year we bought an Open 66 ft race sailing boat originally designed and built by the famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa, which he raced in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), becoming the first non-frenchman to finish the race. We are currently in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser, which we'll need to make both dog and baby proof! A sincere THANK YOU to all those who came out to see us at the Miami International Boat Show. We are so grateful for our BENETEAU family and look forward to seeing you all again at the next show! -- About BENETEAU -- The first BENETEAU boats sailed from the shipyards of Croix-de-Vie over 135 years ago. Since that time, the BENETEAU brand has been synonymous with quality and innovation to all those who have taken to the water – first by the fishermen who made their livelihood from the sea and then by the legions of recreational boaters around the globe. Over the years, our commitment to innovating and embracing ideas, no matter how unconventional, has been at the forefront of who we are in order to bring you the best boat possible. BENETEAU was one of the first boatbuilders many years ago to use computer-aided design (CAD) as well as lighter, stronger composite building materials. We’ve also been at the cutting edge of using greener materials and processes to do our part in protecting the incredible world which we explore. However, all this innovation doesn’t mean we’ve turned our back on tradition. One thing we’ve discovered in over a century of boatbuilding is that new-world innovations work best with old-school craftsmanship. This combination has resulted in some of the most iconic sailboats and powerboats in the world – supremely seaworthy yachts renowned for their sense of style, luxury, and comfort along with their creative use of space and new technologies. -- Philosophy -- We’re a lot like you. We love the water in all its forms – the ocean, bays, lakes, and rivers. And we love sharing the boating lifestyle with our family and friends. This love manifests itself in every BENETEAU built in any one of our many manufacturing facilities worldwide. Every BENETEAU sailboat and powerboat on the water reflects the best efforts of the finest architects, designers, and craftsmen along with the highest quality materials and the latest innovations. When you purchase a BENETEAU, you become a valued member of our BENETEAU family. For this reason, our after-sale service is second to none as evidenced by the multitude of National Marine Manufacturers CSI Awards for Excellence in Customer Service. At the core of this outstanding service is our exceptional dealer network. Every one of our authorized BENETEAU dealers will be there for you – from choosing the right yacht to the handover and beyond. Your dealer will be your able guide when it comes to maintaining your boat properly and will help you maximize the return on your investment when it comes time to step up to another BENETEAU – and it usually does! We wouldn’t have it any other way. We live on the banks of the 60 mile long river Tamar, the boundary between Devon and Cornwall in SW England. Right opposite Devonport Naval Dockyard, the largest such dockyard in Europe, one that has been operating since 1691. So that implies two things. First, the river is wide and deep and second, it's very busy with large warships and, in the past, nuclear submarines and even square rigged "Men of War". It also means there are few places where it's possible to cross the river. In my previous Chat 18 video I sailed past the first crossing point, the Torpoint chain ferry. In this video I sail a few miles upstream to sail under the two bridges at the Cornish town of Saltash. The first is the railway bridge, built by I K Brunel and finished in 1859. And right next to it is the road bridge, officially opened in 1962, and which replaced another chain ferry. Both are over 100ft high to allow tall ships to pass under. Surprisingly, Saltash town is older than the much larger Plymouth. So despite the Union Jack painted pub people in Cornwall often say that crossing the bridge is "going to England" The next (and prior to 1962 the most seaward) road bridge is the "Gunnislake New Bridge" - actually built in 1520! - some 20 miles north of Saltash. The source of the river is only a couple of miles from the north coast, so Cornwall is almost an island. Once past the bridges the landscape changes and there are fields down to the water on both sides with no large towns. However the Tamar is still navigable for another 15 miles, as far as the weir at Morwellham, although Calstock is the sensible northern end for most. More on those for another time. For one of the joys of small boat cruising is that you can go where no large boat dare venture, so there's lots to explore without going out to sea. But whatever size boat you sail it's always weather permitting. The heading photo was taken from our house and shows the Torpoint ferries in the storm of Feb 18th. We were surprised they were still running in 80mph winds. And we were very lucky it wasn't a high spring tide or we would probably have been flooded, as the tide was 600mm, 24in above prediction! Once upon a time when I was 11 years old, I became the godmother of a cute baby, and I must admit... I did a pretty shitty job. Thankfully 24 years later (gasp), he still accepts to hangout with me, and I invite him to join us for some adventurous offshore sailing between the islands of Madeira and Lanzarote. After a really fun week of exploration of the wonderful island of Madeira (https://youtu.be/HYfZAID7CW8), I am really close to redemption, and hoping that the passage itself will achieve to turn me into "Godmother of the year". But as per usual, the sea has other plans. Welcome to mission redemption, part II... Today we made the decision that we are going to start drinking the ocean. And that means turning saltwater into freshwater with the help of a watermaker! This is going to be a multi day install and today marks day one. We want to be fully self sufficient some day, at least as much as you can be. A watermaker will enable us to take showers, wash dishes, drink and prepare food and even wash our clothes, eventually. Getting water while cruising is possible by hauling jugs and cans, but the more remote you get the more difficult it becomes. Our next big stop is the Bahamas and there are something like 700 uninhabited islands which means a lot of islands to ourselves and no access to water. Having a watermaker will increase the time we can stay "out there" Our friends Raff and Sascha are documenting their boat rebuild and will be posting the story on their channel @SpearItAnimal **************************************** If you came here looking for our Amazon links, you're a special kind of awesome human. Hi Everyone, Lennie and I are excited about our new build of the Kinetic 54 going in in South Africa. We have some videos in the works for the build and factory tour and look forward to bringing those two you. Here is a short clip to talk about the Miami show and the fact that Warrior Sailing is having their "safety at sea" class in St. Petersburg Florida on March 12th and there is room to sign up. It's required for many insurance companies along with anyone who races so why not get your education now. Plus its a very fun day. Warriorsailing.org or email me and I will get you signed up... randy@svhappytogether.com svhappytogether.com Music: Sailing Lennie and Me by Leisure Cruise

The 13th edition of the RORC Caribbean 600 started on time from Antigua on Monday 21 February. The IRC Super Zero start was nothing short of hell-raising, with Comanche reaching at full speed towards the Pillars of Hercules, then hardening up to take the inside line perilously close to the cliffs. VO65 Groovederci Racing - Sailing Poland, sailed by Deneen Demourkas was in close quarters. As the two leaders tacked out, they crossed with the massive ClubSwan 125 Skorpios (MON) and the Volvo 70 Ocean Breeze coming inshore on starboard. In the MOCRA start, Peter Cunningham’s MOD70 PowerPlay (CAY) flipped a wheelie on final approach before blasting off into the lead in a ball of spray at over 25 knots. Seventy-four teams with over 700 sailors from 32 countries started the race. The Royal Ocean Racing Club’s 600-mile race around 11 Caribbean islands had a spectacular start with 15 knots of wind from the northeast gusting up to 20 knots. #Caribbean600 #RORCracing

Completano l’equipaggio Vittorio Bissaro, Oliver Herrera Perez, Thomas Joffrin, Francesco Pedol e Matteo Soldini. #MaseratiMulti70 #Caribbean600 Sito web: https://maserati.soldini.it/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/giovannisoldini/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/giovanni_soldini/ Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/giovannisoldini/

First a sum up of everyday life across the Atlantic. Suddenly our GPS signal is lost, and we feel lost since we cannot see where we are on the map. Several days with error searching follows. But as the title reveals, we find land!

Michael Hennessy’s Dragon (USA) is arguably the most successful American Class40 skipper having won the Bermuda One-Two, the Miami to Havana and the Marblehead to Halifax races. He will be racing Two-Handed with Cole Brauer. Charles-Louis Mourruau’s Guidi is one of the latest Class40 designs in the race. The Sam Manuard designed Mach40.3 was commissioned in 2018. Charles-Louis is no stranger to RORC racing having competed in the Sevenstar Round Britain & Ireland Race and the Rolex Fastnet Race. #Caribbean600 #RORCracing
