Galina und Stefan planen eine Auszeit unter Segeln im Mittelmeer und wollen für ihr Sabbatical das perfekte gebrauchte Segelboot kaufen. 12 bis 14 Meter Länge soll das Segelschiff haben, soll sportlich aber auch komfortabel sein, im Idealfall mit einem Centercockpit. Ihr Budget liegt bei 150.000 €. Wir sind bei ihrem Vorhaben dabei, beraten sie beim Bootskauf und suchen für sie den besten Kompromiss für ihre Auszeit. Wir haben einige tolle Optionen rausgesucht - zum Beispiel eine Northwind 47, Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 43 DS, Island Packet 45, Hunter 420 und auch Amel (Santorin und Maramu) ist dabei. Letztendlich haben sie sich für die Schoechl Sunbeam 44 als Favorit entschieden. Eine sehr gute Wahl wie wir finden. Wir haben uns also auf den Weg zur Adria gemacht, um in der Nähe von Venedig diese Segelyacht zu begutachten. Die beiden sollten schauen, ob sie sich darauf wohlfühlen können und wir haben den technischen Check übernommen. Hendrik, als Sachverständiger für Sportboote, hat sogar eine ziemliche Überraschung gefunden. Zusätzlich zum Gutachten ging es dann noch raus auf's Wasser für einen kleinen Segeltörn - Test Segeln bei ruhigen Bedingungen war angesagt! Wir konnten alle Segel ausprobieren und auch hier fanden wir ein paar Themen. Ob das Schiff trotzdem überzeugt und Galina und Stefan schließlich das Segelboot kaufen - das siehst Du in dieser Folge BootsProfis! Viel Spaß damit! While looking through his library of cruising books, Ben highlights and highly recommends Annie Hill's wonderful book "Voyaging on a Small Income" Ben Stookey was introduced to sailing at a very young age by his parents. His father sailed a 21 foot sailboat from England to Antigua in the Mini Transat Race in 1977. When Ben was 14, his parents bought a boat in Finland and they spent years cruising all over Europe. Ben's first year of high school was in Spain. Today, Ben lives aboard a Nonsuch 26 named 'Swallow.' He is currently cruising the US East coast, and earning a living from computer programming remotely aboard his boat using a wifi connection. We tested it in Holand's Waddenzee where it was so deeply buried we couldn't find it by digging! Their focus on producing a solar powered yacht has intrigued many, and their sales figures show that intrigue has turned to commercial success in many cases. Delos has sailed to deserted beaches, tropical jungle rivers, and even bustling cities. And now we find ourselves in the amazing State of Maine, at our very own private island! After dodging a mine field of lobster floats we finally arrive at our new home for the next few weeks- our very own private island in Maine! With deep water around us it's the perfect introduction to this magnificent cruising ground and a great place to do our mandatory self-quarantine. We begin exploring the island and planning for Sierra's 1st birthday, only to find that a tropical storm is hot on our heels. We batten down the hatches and prepare Delos for the blow, which arrives during The Little Nugget's party. Es ist wieder soweit - wir sind wieder auf Bootssuche mit einem ganz neuen Projekt! Ein sehr besonderes Projekt, denn wir suchen die eierlegende Wollmilchsau unter den gebrauchten Segelbooten und das für unter 100.000 € ! Jörg möchte sich alle Fahrtgebiete und Routen offen halten und das bedeutet, das Schiff muss gut für's Ostsee Segeln sein, für eine Atlantiküberquerung und eben auch für eine Weltumsegelung. Das ist eine ordentliche Aufgabe! Allerdings natürlich nicht zu schwer, denn wir haben gute Optionen bei der Hand und 2 davon besichtigen wir in diesem Video! Thema dabei ist unter Anderem die passende Rumpf- und Kielform für eine Weltumsegelung und Langfahrt! Da gibt es große Unterschiede und einige Vor- und Nachteile zu beachten. Just in case some of you are newer followers and haven't watched our earlier videos, long before little Sierra was running around the boat, and even before I laid eyes on my beautiful Swedish princess Kazza for the first time, my brother Brady was a part of the Delos story. We had a run of about 10 years living, traveling, working, drinking, and running amok together on the high seas. From crashing weddings in India, diving with sharks in the most remote corners of the ocean, equator crossing ceremonies on multiple occasions, an unspeakable amount of all nighters, and literally thousands of other memories and moments together (too many of which are not appropriate to share 😂 ) we truly shared more than most brothers could ever dream of...Brady was even the officiant at me and Kazza's wedding. But eventually the time came for our lives to keep going on their own paths. And after more than 3 years, we were finally reuniting in Mexico, and this time Brady and Blue were on their own boat with Sharki the wonder dog in tow. We only got to spend a few days together because the weather really wasn't cooperating with us, but man was it one of the most special moments ever. I'm so incredibly proud of everything we have both accomplished together and apart, and no matter how much time and distance separates us, he will always be my best friend. Although it may seem crazy to sail around the world, once you analyze the various wind patterns and hurricane seasons and with a bit of planning it’s quite reasonable for anyone with a sense of adventure to do the same. There’s lots of ways to sail around the world. If you’re racing, you often use storms in the southern ocean to propel you along. It’s a completely different approach. One that requires serious boats that are built for those conditions. We on the other hand sail around the world by staying more or less in the trade wind belts. This stacks the odds in our favour. We often have the wind and waves behind, pushing us along and stay warm in the non-stop tropical conditions. BE BRAVE.
