Depois de reiterar por muitos anos que nunca teria um animal na minha casa, uma cadela pariu na porta da minha residência e fui "obrigado" a cuidar da mãe e de dois filhores. Não gostava desse bicho. Mas, a partir do sétimo mês de idade notei que o macho (o THOR) era muito apegado comigo. Então comecei a leva-lo diariamente nas minhas caminhadas. Criou-se, entre nós, uma amizade muito bonita e elogiada por pessoas amantes dos pets. Com o tempo, de forma natural e impeceptível, o cão passou a me obedecer em muita coisa, Inclisive não atravessandoa rua sem minha ordem. No mês que completei 66 anos, e o Thor 2,5 anos, por insistênica de amigos e principalmente da minha filha, comprei minha primeira bicicleta da vida. Quando fui pedalar a primeira vez meu corção partiu ao deixar meu amigo. Tentei coloco-lo no guidão, mas ele é grande e eu muito barbeiro. Então encostei a bike e não andei enquanto não comprei um reboque para puxá-lo. Como sou aventureiro por natureza, resolvi criar um desafio: sair de Morrinhos, GO, e chegar até Paraty, RJ, onde mora minha filha. Lake Bala has an essential role, keeping local homes from flooding in rainy times, so they often empty the lake when they know bad weather is coming. This allows the lake to then absorp the rain so it doesn't break the river's banks both up and down stream. Thats all well and good but is this good for sailing!! Add to this super windy conditions blowing almost 20 mph with 30+ gusts and it doesn;t look good for sailing today. This week we leave St. Augustine and move on to Matanzas Inlet where we stay for a week to wait for the proper tides and to study it treacherous shoals. Antigua was great. Next stop, Saint Martin. One island divided into two sides....one French (St Martin) and the other Dutch (Sint Maarten). This is a jam-packed episode. Upon arrival we clear into the French side and start our exploration, with: - a hike up Fort Louis, - meals in the town of Marigot - a Tuesday "Mardi-Gras"-style celebration in the town of Grand Case - a tour of a "super" 69-meter Motor Yacht named Sherakhan We then meet up with Kevin's old friend Leah, her husband Chris and family. They join us for a day sail, we crash their hotel for a shower, and Chris swims to the boat for our passage through the bridges into the Simpson Bay lagoon. We also spend a nice beach (and dinner) afternoon with them in Grand Case. On the boat project front we work on: - fixing the engine-stop issues that returned. - purchasing and rigging a "riding sail", also known as an "anchor sail" to reduce swinging on anchor. - installing a U-bracket to brace the anchor track against lateral strain. In this video we are in the final stages of preparation for our upcoming g inspection and Buoy run. We had a easy storm with high winds the other night and it parted one of the two bow lines which hold Tradition to her mooring ball. Needles to say, we got lucky. So we improve upon our mooring lines and prepare our anchor and chain setup. The interior gets a good cleanup, and Skip repairs some termite damage in the plywood decking, that surfaced over the last couple years The boat is looking much better, and there is still a lot of work to do. The prefect storm, our dripless was dripping really bad, and the bilge pump stopped working on our sailboat. Danielle was on the verge of leaving the Boat, kidding. We got this under control as we worked through what is sinking our sailboat. Then relax in our new chairs from West Marine. Before the sinking drama happen, we trued up our anchor chain, our goal with getting our sailboat on the hook. We would love your opinion on our chain. Will it work as we travel around Florida?
