The basilica of Santa Luzia is situated on a mountain in the city of Viana do Castelo, at the northwestcoast of Portugal. The building work on this basilica dedicated to Santa Luzia and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, started in 1904 and lasted until 1959. It is the work of architect Miguel Ventura Terra, who was succeeded by Miguel Nogueira, after the death of his master in 1919. You can reach the top of the Monte de Santa Luzia by funicular (elevator), by car or by climbing the steps. This place dominates an important part of the Lima river valley and a large stretch of the seashore to the north and south of the estuary, as well as the green mountain range. This panorama has been rated by the National Geographic Magazine as the third most beautiful in the World.

When Jenny was born, doctors said she would not live past the age of 15…but here she is today, snorkeling on Bonaire with her mom, dad, and teenage daughter! And it felt like the universe conspired to give her an amazing day… The skies were beautiful. The moorings on Klein Bonaire opened up for us, one-by-one, to enjoy crystal clear waters for snorkeling; Jenny‘s favorite activity, and the reason she chose Bonaire for her celebration. And we all witnessed one of the most intense green flash sunsets we’d ever seen. These are the days we love. The days we get to play a small part in someone’s story. In this episode Assarain IV sets out from Puerto Real, Puerto Rico, heading to Samana, Dominican Republic. Off the coast of Puerto Rico we responded to a Mayday call of a fishing vessel being pushed offshore with no propulsion, and stayed with the boat until the coast guard arrived on scene. And then the Autopilot quit just before sunset, so we steered the boat by hand all night! Arriving after a night passage in Samana Bay we are greeted by Humpback whales. These whales congregate in the bay in the winter months to raise their young before returning to colder northern waters. After clearing in to the Dominican Republic we hike with our new friends from SY Papaki from the marina into the town of Samana. Boat Work: - Kevin troubleshoots and fixes the autopilot. -the Takacat Dinghy is having some issues. We do a patch of one weak floor area that's leaking. Later we find the glue on the floor is separating along an entire seam. Scuba Diving: we rent a car and set out for a 2-tank dive off Cabo Cabron, Las Galeras. That's it for now. As many of you can tell, things have changed A LOT for us over the years... To keep it short and sweet, we're splitting time between southern Oregon and northern California, living the woods life and spending quite a bit of time on a cattle ranch! Life is good and we hope that all of you that have followed our adventures are well and chasing your dreams. Speaking of dreams, Kristina has taken it upon herself to become an AMAZING cook! I ate well growing up with a father that was a 5 star chef in San Diego and a mother that learned how to cook from her grandmother (she grew up in the Great Depression) who cooked everything from scratch. That said, Kristina has become an amazing cook and can prepare top level meals easily, many of which have blown away the best meals of my childhood and beyond. This video was her application video for the 13th season of MasterChef, her favorite show. Things were moving along well with her application until the person interviewing her changed positions suddenly. We feel Kristina got lost in the shuffle. Regardless, she is entering the mix again for season 14 and she is submitting a new application video! We cannot share the application video now, possibly never depending on the rules of confidentiality, but we feel this one is ready to see the light of day. We hope all of you are as well as we are! We miss sailing very much but sometimes you have to take a break from the things you love to finish raising children, especially in a blended family where kid exchanges can become really complicated when you have to sail to them! 😆 Our best to all of you and cheers to your future adventures, wherever they may take you! 🥂

We stay at an anchorage on mainland France for the night, in the morning we set sail for Monaco! We put up our Monaco courtesy flag, which is apparently mandatory to have up in all Monaco marinas. We show Monaco from the sea and how exceptionally small it is, full of tall modern glass buildings. We dock in the port of Monaco beside huge cliff. Bayly shows how nice the showers at the marina are compared to most other marinas, then she accidentally floods the entire floor... Bayly does her hair and makeup to go out to a really fancy lounge. Austin takes a wrong turn on our walk to the restaurant and we end up having to hop 2 fences and walk down a highway in a tunnel. A bit of a mess we finally make it to Buddha Bar Monte-Carlo and have the best sushi of our lives! This place looks so cool inside! Austin runs down an up escalator on our walk back to our boat. Show some super yachts. Hike up to the Princes Palace of Monaco. We stop at McDonalds for dinner.

This is a temp installation as we have plans in the works for a new hardtop that was decided we needed to install to have the larger 450 watt panels installed and the hard top would support the weight of those panels. These soft flexible panels are 100 Watts and were placed in both parallel and series and tied down for install and then wired in for connectivity. Pete and Eve had the great honour to crew on the Whaling Boat "Nossa Senhora de Fatima" on the largest Whale Boat Sailing Regatta of the year. Here a few words from our helmsman @ConradHumphreys “To sail in these incredible boats is a privilege and to be part of this wonderful crew is something I will never forget. 30 teams start the final race of the season here in Lajes do Pico. We raise the sails, sheet in and try to find the best route towards the first mark under the lee of Pico Mountain. Our start is perfect, and we manage to get into clear wind. A few good tacks on wind shifts and we round the first mark in the lead. It’s a perfect start, but sailing these boats in strong gusty winds requires a great team and it’s not easy. After a few little mistakes, the second place boat is gaining fast and almost passes us. We round the final mark just ahead and then a huge gust of wind powers us to the finish line. This video was produced for a presentation for sailors in Rio Dulce, Guatemala, who are interested in sailing to Cuba. Actually, it's based on a former presentation, we did a year before in Luperon, Dominican Republic. As a result, last year a small flotilla of twelve boats sailed to Cuba and enjoyed the time being there. The informations, facts and figures we provide in this video are based on our experiences until April 2025, when we left Cuba. In total we spent six month on the island.
