A month left at the dock and we finally found our Sailboat Dinghy! Finding a new to us rigid ride inflatable boat and not just breaking the bank with a new one was a daunting task. We search from west to east coast Florida finding rubbish or way out of budget. Then we stumbled across Lifeline Marine Safety Services and found the dinghy that was right for us. Funny the shop was just minutes from Cape Marina vs the miles we thought we needed to go to find that jewel. The staff at Lifeline Marine Safety Services was amazing, they helped us with minor issues with our new to us dinghy. They even helped us get the inflatable to the dock saving us time and effort. Ones we had our dinghy she needed a little TLC and we also had to beef up our davit pully system. So in this video we go over how to replace a carburetor on a Nissan outboard. Then we add a 6 to 1 pulley system on our davits. ► Conceived in 2013 to ease the pressure on the traditional ARC, which has been taking sailors across the Atlantic from East to West since 1986, the ARC+ has become increasingly popular thanks to its stopover in Mindelo, Cape Verde. According to Paul Tetlow, General Manager of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers, the Mindelo stopover has many advantages - especially for family crews. The route, although longer overall, is in fact two legs shorter (11 to 16 days for Mindelo - St. Georges) than the ARC's “direct” transatlantic passage and features a generally more clement southerly route. The stopover also serves to strengthen the bonds between the crews. Arriving in Grenada, in the far south of the West Indies, means there are no questions about the Caribbean program: you're heading north until May, and that's that! This year, no fewer than 91 yachts ranging in size from 36 to 72 feet (11 to 22 m) docked at Grenada's luxurious Port Louis marina. Among them were no fewer than 27 catamarans - a ratio that is steadily increasing in favor of multihulls. On the dock, 434 sailors of 26 different nationalities shared their ocean experience. 37 children took part in the adventure: among them, Lauren, Rebecca and Michela, aboard the Dutch Excess 11 AtC, looked after Archie, the ARC+'s teddy bear mascot... The ARC+, deliberately oriented towards cruising, has no racing division, whereas the ARC does, but only for monohulls. All multihulls are therefore authorized to use their engines, but they are required to declare the times they use them, and an hourly penalty is logically assigned. It can be strategically useful for getting out of an area of calms more quickly and optimize passage time. As a consequence of this “motor-driven” regatta, it's the compensated time that motivates the crews and interests us. The dinghy or tender is a separate boat from the mothership. The purpose is to reprovision, explore and adventure ashore. You need gear dedicated to the dinghy. We should be able to drop the dinghy in the water and go exploring rather than transferring gear back and forth from the mother ship. One of the selling points of the UP340 is having the storage to securely store all the dedicated gear. Otherwise the gear will lie strewed upon the floor posing tripping and ankle twisting hazards. In Episode 69 of the Sailing Goat series, we weather 4 intense days of Meltemi winds while anchored in Poros, Greece—gusts up to 40 knots howling day and night. Thanks to our careful prep, we held firm with just a small tear in our bimini, right where one of the solar panel mounts gave way. It could’ve been worse—especially as we watched yet another round of charter boat chaos unfold all around us. 🌀 Meltemi Madness: If you've ever ridden out a Meltemi, you know it’s not just about anchoring—it's about vigilance, checking holding every hour, and hoping your neighbors know what they're doing. Spoiler: many don’t. We stayed calm, laughed a lot, and filmed the action. ⛵ Dreaming Big – A Tour of the Bali 4.8 Catamaran After the storm cleared, we were lucky enough to get a private tour of a Bali 4.8 catamaran—and wow, what a boat. With four double cabins each with en-suite bathrooms, a full-size front cockpit, and the iconic Bali solid forward deck instead of netting, this catamaran feels like a floating villa. The tilting garage-style aft door transforms the saloon into an open-air terrace, merging seamlessly with the enormous aft cockpit. Inside, the galley and living space are on the same level with 360° panoramic views. There’s also a flybridge with loungers and helm station, making it perfect for long passages and social cruising alike. With top-of-the-line systems and ocean-ready design, it’s easy to see why this is now Max’s dream boat... 💸 …if only we had a spare €1.2 million lying around. For now, we’ll stick with our beloved GOAT. 🍷 Winding Down with Wine & Good Company We ended the week with a relaxed night out in Poros, sharing stories and wine with the lovely crews of SV WOLO and Blue Poros Wine.
