But the crew remain in high spirits despite going through 2.5m seas straight on the nose with 30knot winds. I spent a good year refitting it, mostly by myself and with the help of awesome friends, and then (mostly) solo sailed my sailboat around the western Caribbean. In 2016, I crossed the Panama Canal, had a major engine break down, a near sinking experience and a serious foot injury which got me stuck along the Pacific coast of Central and South America. In this Episode, I change my house batteries from 2x 200amp/h AGM to 3x 100amp/h Dakota Lithium Batteries. In the Video, I explain how I calculated my daily energy consumption and how I set up my whole electrical system on my 37 foot sailboat. I split the installation of my new power system on my sailboat Karl in three parts. This is the first part in which I install my new Lithium batteries. The sole of our bridge deck is full of dips, and we need to get it level. But how do we do it without adding weight? We knew this would be a problem when we started, but now it's been 3 years and we forgot about it! Since we're so close to getting paint on, I need to think of all the coves/fillets for our spaces. Mostly our bridge deck has been ignored for fairing because there were so many other things to think of. But since the hulls are coming to a close, I went to see what I could easily work on up there. Then I found out that our cabin sole is very uneven and needs filling! Up to 10 mm in spaces!! What do we do to get a level finish? Bond in pieces of foam? Uses multiple gallons of fairing compound? This was something which was supposed to be a 'later' problem when we started, but now it has come time to deal with it. Follow as we go through what would be the best option for us. We have explored some amazing countries and met some beautiful people along the way. As regular viewers will know we lost our old dinghy so went on a search for the best replacement. We wanted something that was good quality, that was light and good value. We're really happy with our choice, the True Kit Navigator. If any of you are after a very stable, lightweight, quality dinghy then take a look, it's made of a new German material called Valmex thats good in the sun and unlike the very expensive Hypalon, can have the seams thermo welded. Hypalon can only be glued. We tested the dinghy in Southern Sardinia, are those the clearest waters you've ever seen? It was like filming in a swimming pool! In this episode we have been having motor issues and get the experts around to inspect Nandjis motor. We initially thought we had a majour rebuild on our hands but with a closer look it may not be as bad as what we first though. We order new parts to eliminate the problem. Rather than sitting on our hands we decide to go on adventure with our new friends Corey, Jess and Chris to the Cascades waterfall, Efate Island. CONSIDERAÇÕES SOBRE O WIND 34' - O detalhe do encaixe das tampas na cozinha é bacana. Aumenta a área de bancada e otimiza o espaço. - A ventilação é bastante comprometida quando fechamos a porta da cabine de proa, porque são poucas as gaiutas que abrem. Mas se deixarmos a porta aberta, ventila bem - Há bastante área técnica pra guardar defensas, cabos, sacos de lixo, etc [não mostrei no vídeo] na caixa de popa a bombordo. - O visor do consumo de combustível está pessimamente localizado dentro da cabine de popa (é aquela barra vertical na parede da cama) - Pelo vídeo percebemos que a mesa que vira cama não é a maior maravilha do mundo, funciona médio e, segundo o Ektor, não costuma ser usada. Talvez fosse melhor mesa ou melhor cama se não tentasse ser os dois. Mas ainda assim a mesa é confortável. - O espaço externo é bem resolvido, e a plataforma é bastante boa O veleiro é um dos barcos disponíveis para aluguel pra charter na Wind Charter, na Marina do Engenho, Paraty - RJ Obrigada Ektor, por essa voltinha!
