There is a misconception that being a Yacht Broker is all about hanging around luxurious boats in exotic destinations. While that is true for some not all of us have that luxury. On this video I show you a day in the life. Today we were picking up a 1997 Hunter. 376. This is a situation where the husband passed away and we are trying to help the widow deal with the sale of the boat. A friend of the family had sent us pictures of the boat which look good, so we decided to take on the job. The boat was located in Venice Yacht Club and we had to move it to Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto, FL. This is a 6.5 - 7 hr trip. Now we have not physically seen the boat. So I brought Capt Danny Blankenship with me to run the boat to Regatta Pointe. The challenge with taking on boats site unseen, is that you do not really know what you are going to find. Will the boat be a derelict boat, will the engine start, if the engine start will it be reliable enough to get us back to Regatta Pointe. All of these are more are questions that run through your head whenever you take on this type of activity. Once you get the boat over, what condition will be it in? There are boxes upon boxes of stuff we will have to sort through to get to a point where we can make a good assessment on the boat. In this episode, we solo sail from San Pedro, CA to Emerald Bay, Catalina Island. Winds and seas are mostly calm, so we motor sail to our destination. Emerald Bay has a mooring field and a small anchorage behind Indian Rock. It can be a bit rolly at the anchorage and some have reported that holding is less than ideal. We drop a single hook in about 48 feet of water. There were no other boats in the anchorage except for a fishing boat which anchored for a couple of ours at a 150 meters distance from us. Séquence à suivre pour éviter les problèmes. D'en bas vers en haut! 1ère étape : Couper le convertisseur 220V (indiqué GEN sur le tableau électrique qui donne du 220V en navigation) situé sous le lit de la cabine arrière Tribord 2ème étape : dans la même coque, cette fois ci dans la coursive, ouvrez le placard technique du bas, et tourner de la position 2 (recharge des batteries grâce aux moteurs) à la position 1 (recharge des batteries par l'électricité du quai) 3ème étape : au niveau du tableau électrique principal dans le carré, enclenchez le chargeur de batterie 4ème étape : sortir le câble électrique rangé sous la méridienne et le brancher en premier, sur la prise situé sur le bateau en haut de la jupe tribord et enfin brancher l'autre extrémité sur la borne de quai. Au cas où la borne délivre du 24V, utilisez l'adapteur 24V. 5ème étape : vérification que la borne fonctionne et que le bateau est bien branché au quai en retournant au tableau électrique situé dans le carré en vérifiant l'indication du voltage sur l'écran de contrôle.

We take a mini cruise and sail from Plymouth to the River Yealm and spend a few days exploring. We stay on a mooring about mid river to enjoy the sights and sounds of this tranquil place. Newton Ferrer's is extremely pretty and really worth the effort, especially in low season. We had a glorious day and we were able to fly the drone capturing the beauty of the estuary. After a few days we make another passage to Dittisham up the river Dart and allow ourselves some time to relax in this picturesque natural harbour. Join us as we sail from Atlantic City to Baltimore on our Balance 482 Catamaran. We stopped for a night of sleep in a sneaky anchorage in the Delaware Bay. There was a 3 knot current which made GoTFO⛵️ face the current rather than the wind while at anchor. After slow-rolling to catch a favorable current, we motored through the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal under numerous bridges. Dennis added padding to our drain to prevent vibration noises when our engines were at low idle. What a relief! We were shocked to see the Baltimore Key Bridge is still not repaired after the impact from a container ship that killed 6 workers filling potholes on the bridge. It's been 6 months since that incident. Our cute dog, Schatzi, was excited to walk on land after 2 days on GoTFO⛵️. And we had the best time exploring an adorable section, Canton, in Baltimore, Maryland. We loved our anchorage and will stop there again but our anchor pulled up a TON of trash. Ick! We enjoyed reuniting with friends we made in St. Augustine, Florida, on SV Meraki and SV Confetti. As we were leaving, we realized we forgot to pass along some wire to SV Confetti. One of our favorite features is the excellent ventilation since we mostly live as "hookers" (aka at anchor) where the boat automatically turns into the wind so we stay cool and we don't need to battle mold. We also have starlink for easy off-grid life. Our 2400 watt solar panel array also means we rarely need to run an engine to charge our batteries. ABOUT US: We saved for a our future boat, sold everything that we owned, and shipped the rest in a container to Cape Town, South Africa. We then flew there and explored South Africa by way of a safari and touring Cape Town before moving aboard our boat. We then sailed to Saint Helena, Ascension Island, Fernando de Naronha (Brazil), Martinique, Sint Maarten (Dutch and French side), the US Virgin Islands (Saint Croix, Saint John, and Saint Thomas), the British Virgin Islands (Anegada, Norman Island, Jost van Dyke, and Anegada), The Bahamas (Inagua, Crooked Island, Long Island, George Town, Staniel Cay, the Exumas, and Eleuthera). We then sailed back to the United States, making landfall in Cape Canaveral, Florida. From there our destinations are endless! Both Dennis and Ann grew up military brats with Army fathers. Dennis (the Colonel) served 30 years in the US Army and his retirement pension helped us retire in our 50s. Ann (the ship's Captain) wrote Test Automation in Python and Java. Dennis and Ann met on Match.com where Ann had in her profile "Do you want to sail the world with me?" Ann easily brought Dennis into sailing, and he loved the GTFOplan of retiring early and sailing the world. After many years of saving, living on one income but earning two, and cutting back on everything possible, they saved enough to buy a Balance 482.
