Living full time on a sailing boat sounds amazing, beautiful anchorages fantastic scenery and the chance to experience so many different cultures. 90% of the time this is all true, but as you will see in this video, sometimes things like the weather can ruin a good time. 50+ knots of wind can rattle the nerves somewhat, but once again we weather the storm and survive to sail another day! You can charter a boat, sail or power, anywhere in the world. You can charter bareboat where you and your crew take full control of the boat and operate it as you see fit. Or hire a Captain to be in charge and direct you and your crew in operating the boat. Or hire Captain and Crew to operate the boat while you sit back and relax. Or add a cook to the crew to provision, cook, serve and cleanup after meals. But let’s bring it all down to earth and say you are looking at bareboat chartering a 40 foot sailboat, monohull or catamaran, in the Caribbean or Mediterranean; what are the things you should know in advance, what preparations should you make before deciding on boat type, where to charter, who to charter with, who to include in your crew/family members, advance study of the area you will be sailing, navigation preps and much more. So, join us for a chat as we explore these and many other question on chartering

We’ve finally made it to one of the most iconic spots in the Whitsundays - Whitehaven Beach. We hiked to the lookout for epic views over both Whitehaven and Chance Bay, then visited Betty’s Beach to take in the surreal beauty of Hill Inlet with its swirling white sand and crystal-clear turquoise water. We’re slowing things down here and taking our time to explore this stunning region and already, we’re completely hooked. There’s just something about the colours, the calm, and the wildness of it all that’s hard to walk away from. In this video, I explain some of the biggest risks involved when ordering a new yacht, from choosing the right shipyard and understanding payment stages, to bank guarantees, build contracts, change orders, delays, quality control, and protecting yourself throughout the construction process. Too often, buyers focus only on the finished yacht and not enough on the journey to get there. But when you are committing millions to a new build, the details matter. A weak contract, poor supervision, unclear specifications, or the wrong shipyard can turn a dream project into a nightmare. We also look at: ✔ Why a yacht should be treated as a lifestyle purchase, not an investment ✔ The warning signs that a shipyard may be in trouble ✔ Why detailed specifications protect you ✔ How change orders can dramatically affect cost and delivery ✔ Why having your own representative at the yard is essential ✔ How delay penalties can help—or create new problems If you are considering building a yacht, or even just exploring the idea, this is a video you should watch first. During my short 4 day visit in Brussels, I was lucky to be there during the European Dog show at the Palais des Expositions, near the Atomium. A fantastic opportunity for me to see the Belgian breeds (amazing for a small country to have so many pure breeds originating from!). Let’s take together some glimpses at the show with some Bergers Belges (Malinois, Tervueren, Lakenois, Groenendael and my favorite, the Schipperke! ), the Bouvier Belges, the St Hubert, the small Griffons, Epagneuls and Bichon Frise . Filmed 26-28 August 2016. Thanks for the welcome by the show organizers and the Royal Schipperke Club without forgetting Marc, my assistant & driver.

Day three of GC32 competition here in Majorca produced yet more heroes. Star performer today was American Jason Carroll and his team of ‘Argonauts’. The longest serving team on the GC32 Racing Tour, Argo today seemed to own the race course, comfortably winning today’s first two races and leading for much of the third. While the increasingly immaculate INEOS Team UK beat them overall today by a point, Argo’s 13 points were some 15 less than Zoulou, the next best owner-driver team, giving Carroll a healthy 15 point lead on the Owner-Driver leaderboard over Erik Maris’ team. The 37 Copa del Rey MAPFRE is the third event in GC32 Racing Tour 2018 season. Racing is held on the Bay of Palma, another of the world’s top regatta venues, renowned for its consistent sea breeze. www.gc32worlds.com

This week I will spend a bit of time and explain why I have been off the boat the last 4 weeks or so. As of the date of this recording, I have been up in New Jersey for over 25 days. I know this isn't typical sailing or boat DIY work, but it is real life and what is going on with us. I hope you can be patient with us while we work on the things that are most important right now and get back to our sailing adventures very soon. While I am up in New Jersey, my lovely bride, Debbie, and the grandsquids are all back aboard SVDreamChaser and holding down the fort there, as they say. Deb has been doing some work but isn't quite as diligent as I am about filming all the stuff we do. She was able to get the boat lines all adjusted in some rough weather that happened over the last week or 2. She also went to get the dinghy from the shop where we were giving her a good tune-up. We hadn't used the dink in over a year since the big boat went into the boatyard and outboards don't do well when they just sit. Sadly that is what I let happen to it while focusing on all of the refit work on SVDreamChaser. Someone had asked me if I could share where I get all the do-rags (Due-rags, buffs, bandanas, headwear). What the heck do they even call these darn things? LOL. I got my first one as an accessory with a polisher for the boat or something like that. I loved the way it fit, but when I went to buy one at a marine supply store, they were $20-$30 each. I went on a bit of a search for cool patterns at a better price. The ones I use are not as good as the $30 jobbers but are fairly close to as good. The best news is they are about $2 per piece and I buy them in themed color packs. Below are a couple of Amazon links (I am not affiliated with this company but have bought all of these and liked them). Each of the links below allows you to select through several different themes (Flags, skulls, flames, dark, colorful, etc) https://amzn.to/2GHNZdU https://amzn.to/2GViOw3 (If you use these links I get a tiny stipend from Amazon, Thank you) Don't forget to like and share this video Please check out our other videos as well and click on the playlist below for a couple we think you may enjoy. We drove to Los Angeles, the city of angels, after we payed a quick visit to the gates of Neverland, where Michael Jackson used to live. Before driving into the crowded city we stopped at Malibu beach for a nice swim in the pacific ocean. Our day in L.A. ended with a lovely dinner in Hollywood and a walk along The Walk Of Fame where we spotted the famous stars. Los Angeles was super crowded when we were there, so we decided to drive on through the desert to Las Vegas. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- INTRO MUSIC by Campfire by Scandinavianz https://soundcloud.com/scandinavianz Creative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0 Free Download / Stream: https://bit.ly/_campfire Music promoted by Audio Library https://youtu.be/9Rfykh-YzCc
