En segelbåts-lärdom jag önskar jag visste innan vi köpte vår båt ⛵️ Vi ligger i marinan i Le Marin på Martinique och jag tänker på en sak jag önskar att jag kollat upp lite bättre innan vi köpte båten… De där ynka centimetrarna över 15 meter. På vissa papper är vår båt över 15 meter. På andra är den under. Och det visar sig spela större roll än man kan tro. För i många marinor händer något vid just 15 meter, plötsligt räknas båten nästan som en “lyxbåt” prismässigt. Som tur är ligger vi inte så ofta i marina. Men när vi gör det… då märks det. Så ett tips till dig som letar segelbåt: Kolla inte bara på båten, kolla på pristrapporna i marinor, försäkringar och annat också. Ibland kan några centimeter göra stor skillnad. Day 6 at sea. Day 2 of getting ripped at sea. I’ve continued with my workout program and focusing properly on my nutrition, and honestly, I’m finding the whole thing really interesting. On my previous crossing, I tracked what I ate, but more just in quantity. This time I’m actually tracking calories and paying attention to the nutritional side of it all, making sure I’m getting enough protein and eating in a way that makes me feel good. And one thing that surprised me is how many calories I actually need out here. My first thought was that I should need way less because technically I spend more time sitting or lying down than I would on land. But then I started thinking about how your body is always working at sea. Even when I’m resting, my body is constantly stabilizing itself, adjusting to movement, stopping myself from falling over, reacting to every wave and motion. And I think that constant engagement changes way more than you realize. So weirdly enough, the amount I need to eat is actually pretty similar to land life. Sometimes maybe even more. Which I honestly found fascinating. Other than that, it’s been a pretty normal day at sea. I experimented a bit with food and ended up making some absolutely amazing desserts. Healthy, high protein, actually delicious. Am 4. Tag unseres Absegel-Törns 2018 blieben wir gemütlich im Hafen von Marstal. Ganz früh morgens um 7.15 Uhr gab es einen farbenfrohen und spektakulären Sonnenaufgang zu sehen. Nach dem gemeinsamen Frühstück auf Christine in großer Runde, gingen einige spazieren im Wald, andere an den Strand und manche in die kleine Innenstadt und zum SuperBrugsen (dänischer Supermarkt) Und eigentlich hockte immer jemand auf dem Steg... irgendwann wurden die Gitarren geholt und der Wein geöffnet... und nach dem Sonnenuntergang saßen wir zum gemeinsamen Abendessen (Nudeln mit Pesto, frischen Tomaten und Rucola) wieder an Bord der Christine (da ist einfach ausreichend Platz für so viele Leute). Und wie der Abend so verlief sehr ihr ja im Video😜

We are a family of four learning to live on our 39 ft sailboat with two kids, Bug the Chihuahua, Boaty the sinking lab, and Beans the cat. Life as we know it has been turned upside down so we decided to take off and explore via sail! Our living space has decreased in size from 2000 sq ft to 250 sq ft, the kids schools are going remote, and the cat is learning that the chihuahua is not a rat. With trade winds blowing south east every day, it is rare that when heading south east, you can sail downwind. But it happened! We had the perfect weather, with clocking winds that would give us a chance to sail downwind even while sailing around the Berry Islands. We'll let you find out how it worked out! We pick up my mom in Nassau and make our way down to the Exumas. The scenery is breathtaking, and everything that we'd heard it would be!
